We were on route from Portugal to Italy and wanted to stop in Ruidere but that campsite was closed and led to a stressful tour of the town before heading to this oasis. But a lucky find. A wonderful place any time if the year for cyclists and hikers. The campsite was busy preparing for the summer so was partially closed, but that was no problem for us. Bathrooms adequate, little bar welcoming, shopping minimal - wine always available! Next morning heading out we were blessed with a sighting of wild mountain goats. Cycling from Ruidere was a pleasure as the Spanish are very considerate and hiking around the Lagunas a delight. A win was harvesting some rosemary for a lamb dish! If you’re in the area, treat yourself by stopping here.
This camping must be very busy in the high season, but we arrived the 23rd of September to find a quiet camping surrounded by brooks which give of a nice sound of running water. Most of the large camping was closed for the season including their swimming pool. No worries, plenty of lakes around to swim in within easy walking distance. Clean and modern facilities. The surroundings are nice for walking and swimming.
The campsite is well situated for exploring the Lagunas de Ruidera - beautiful lakes and wonderful scenery with an amazing variety of butterflies & wild flowers. The site has lots of shaded pitches which are graded on size. We were put on a small plot which we found to be a little tight despite just having a 2-man tent and a small car. There is a beautifully kept pool with lots of grass for sunbathing as well as plenty of trees for shade. Facilities are plentiful and clean. All staff were friendly and helpful, although little English is spoken. The site is mainly used by Spanish as we didn't meet any other nationalities during our 3 night stay. The bar & restaurant is reasonably priced, but the shop is a little expensive so just go across the road to a little mercado. Would definitely recommend staying.…
Arrived 28 May. Plenty of well shaded pitches, all a good size. Need to come with supplies as the supermarket was closed, only bread available. The restaurant was open for meals. Good clean facilities. Friendly staff. Lovely walks around the lagoons. There are cafes which were open around the lagoons. Ideal for 2-4 nights, would recommend this site.
We loved this campsite as it was perfectly positioned to tour the small lakes (Laguna de Ruidera) in this beautiful area. The campervan pitches are large and private and the facilities are excellent. The staff were all very helpful. We visited at the end of October and would love to revisit in late spring but would probably avoid the area at the height of summer because I'm sure the campsite and roads would be packed.
