My family and I stayed for 3 days and 2 days in three different Hayahay rooms.
All we can say is we definitely love the ambiance and look of their rooms. Also, the rooms are very spacious and roomy. Each room has its own balcony, shower and bathtub, and smart TV (with Netflix!). They also served complimentary drinks at our arrival.
One of the rooms had a little technical problem with the power, but it was quickly fixed by their engineering team.
The balcony for each room has spectacular views of the pool and beach area. The balcony is a great place to lounge in while you eat breakfast or to just chillax during the night.
Their main pool isn't that deep, but it was cool and clean. They also have a more shallow pool for the kids and two jacuzzis.
They keep their beach area clean, and if you check in at the hotel, you get to use the kayaks or paddleboards for free.
Their restaurant offers delicious dishes with generous servings. Some dishes can get a little pricey for those looking for a more affordable fare, but their price ranges are fairly typical of luxury resorts/hotels. They can serve food directly to your rooms, if you wish. For breakfast, they offer 4 set choices, accompanied with a choice of either hot coffee or chocolate drink.
The hotel is also conveniently located next to Moadto Strip Mall, which has several restaurants for you to choose from for your lunch or dinner out.
One thing I'd like to point out is the excellence service of the resort and hotel staff. Right off the bat they are warm and welcoming, and very accommodating. It was my parents' anniversary, and we were pleased to see that they have prepared a little surprise for them during our arrival. The staff are extremely friendly and approachable, and are quick to their tasks. From their front desk and restaurant staff, to their housekeeping/engineering and activities in-charge, they are always willing to help you out.
So, all in all, a stay at Modala is definitely worth it. Aside from the cozy and luxurious amenities that you get to enjoy, and the easy access the beach and nearby restaurants -- it is definitely the warmth and the hospitality of the people who run the resort daily that definitely makes you feel at ease and at home.
I highly recommend this place, and I am definitely looking forward to spending time here again. I have more amenities to check out the next time I visit them. And as they are still expanding their space and their services, I am looking forward to more activities to do there the next time I stay with them.

We stayed last June 2022 in Modala Beach Resort and experienced the best customer service from the time we were picked up from the airport until we we checked out on our 4th day.
The hotel staff were all so warm and helpful and attended to all our needs graciously. There was no concern left unattended with urgency and hospitality. Shoutout to Nish who constantly attended to all our needs =)
The rooms fit our family of 4 well enough as the 2 queen sized beds are spacious and comfortable. The room was also being cleaned daily and the staff were so courteous and kind to offer this to the guests.
Being on the other side of Panglao, the area is more quiet, less crowded and beachfront was clean and perfectly maintained. We love the fact that we can swim and enjoy the beach and not worry about social distancing.
Modala resort has a nearby mall and this makes it easier for guests to dine and buy essentials/pasalubongs. It has a 711 store and a number of restaurants that guests can choose from.
Though their Spa is still closed, they referred to us a room massage service that gave me the best massage I have ever experienced. The massage relieved my aching back, making me enjoy our trip even more.
Over-all, Modala resort is highly recommended especially to families who would like to spend most of their time in the beach and would prefer a more quiet and relaxing environment. Thanks to Modala, me and my family was able to have a memorable trip to celebrate my 40th birthday.

Travelling during Covid can be scary, but staying in Modala made everything feel safer and gave us the peace of mind that we'll be okay. As soon as we arrived, we were greeted with a cold towel and alcohol spray. Everyone was in a mask and kept proper social distancing all throughout our stay.
Their attention to detail is unmatched, from the personalized welcome note as you enter your room for the first time, to the refillable toiletries and water bottles for the environment, and even to the staff knowing you by name! Every corner and area was also well designed for those who appreciate interiors and enjoy photoshoots.
Another perk is the convenience because there's a strip of restaurants right next to the resort, so you don't have to put yourself at risk. There were so many cuisines to choose from, so we were able to try different ones everyday (we stayed for four days). All were good and well designed, as well! This is in addition to the already delicious food in the resort.

My first trip since March 2020 was to this beach resort with my whole family. And it was great!
Rooms were large, spotless, and amenities plentiful, including bathroom toiletries which were Badgley Mischka (nice!). The hotel is by the beach, snd both the beach and water were very clean; a FAR CRY from dirty Boracay!
The food in the hotel restaurant is superb; can beat any 5-star hotel is Metro Manila.
There is an open-air mall right beside the hotel, with several eating places and a convenience store.
What is most impressive though is the resort staff, who went out of their way to make my whole family feel like they were all VIPs. From arranging all our tours, to organizing a surprise dinner, band, and show on the beach: fantastic customer service! I highly recommend this resort to all!

I have to admit to some trepidation when our group booked the Modala Beach Resort in Panglao. However, this property can compete with the best anywhere. The food and beverage manager, Edwin has clearly done a tremendous job training his people. This is no easy feat in the Philippines. While personal service is generally excellent in the Philippines, at Modala, the staff is trained to anticipate. Training in critical thinking skills are evident in every employee. They all learn your names so they greet you on sight. Errol, a member of the wait staff was almost spooky. He would appear with something before we asked for it. Many times he would notice something that might enhance our experience and quietly provided without asking. Our Valentines Day dinner for our group of 6 was particularly excellent. Food quality is good, but the service just was really outstanding. A shout out to Rommel, who even (although reluctantly) sang his favorite song for us.
The property itself is relatively new and up to par with the best international standards. Beautiful views, well appointed rooms all with first class amenities. The location on the far side of Panglao Island is quiet. It's a bit of a drive to the heart of Panglao's "scene" but if you're not into large group partying, Modala serves up a quiet and relaxing atmosphere.
There are still some things they are working on. The closest ATM is a distance away and as of this writing, one is being installed in the mall attached to the property. However, when I asked Edwin if there was an ATM nearby, he apologized for not being able to accommodate. And the next morning, he informed me that he went into town, withdrew money from his personal account and offered me cash. That's going above and beyond!
Don't be scared off by "mall". It's not a mall like the giant SM and Ayala malls of the Philippines. It's clean with large open spaces and affords ocean views throughout.
All in all, Modala was a pleasant surprise where almost every detail was taken into account. This is not normal in the Philippines, but what we should all come to expect.

My husband and I wanted to stay at a hotel that was not in Alona Beach since we wanted to have a quiet relaxing stay, and upon seeing the excellent reviews, we decided to book Modala.
We availed the hotel’s airport transfer (cost us 800php for 2), and found that it was a 10 minute ride from the new Panglao Airport. Van was new and driver were very welcoming.
Upon arriving at the resort, we were in awe of the interiors. Everything was beautifully designed, from the infinity pool, the restaurant, and the rooms.
Our room was overlooking the pool, had a very comfortable king bed, and was very very clean. Bathroom was clean, too.
All the staff are courteous and always willing to see if they can do anything to assist. They made us feel at home and at ease.
Breakfast buffet had a good selection of viands, breads, fruits, and spreads. Their hot chocolate, and bacon were to die for, and the view while having breakfast is excellent.
Water sports equipment are also available for use for all guests.
The hotel is also located beside a small open-air mall, Moadto Strip, which housed a few restaurants, a pharmacy, and a convenience store. This is definitely a plus.
All in all, it was a stay that we will never forget. We are already thinking of going back.

I just returned from spending a wonderful week at the Modala Beach Resort! It's located on a very nice beach on the west side of the Panglao Island next to a lush Mangrove forest that can as well be explored by canoes. I had a beautiful, quiet, always clean room facing the ocean with breathtaking views of the sunset that I could enjoy from the large balcony.
The pool area is very nicely done and clean with lots of flatbeds to relax. From there, it's just a few steps down to access the beach. Again, plenty of flatbeds there. Right next to the beach is the dive shop (thanks again to Brian for organizing an amazing dive-trip to Balicasag island) and the restaurant area.
The breakfast served there was delicious with a great selection of both Western and Asian style foods. I also had lunch there a few times and can't complain at all.
Right next to the hotel is a mall with even more restaurants and shops which is very convenient.
And most importantly a big thank you to all the very helpful and exceptionally nice staff! Especially Nish and her team from Front Office, who really made the difference while helping me organize tours, calling me a ride, picking me up at the ferry and bringing me back there, handling everything smoothly from check-in to check-out and always greeting me with a big smile. I felt very welcome, will definitely come back and recommend to my friends.

If you are planning to visit Panglao and unsure where to stay, look no further than Modala!
The pickup from seaport was arranged by the resort and it was overall very smooth. Once we arrived at the resort, we received a warm reception and was immediately stunned by the beautiful infinity pool and sea view. Our room was very spacious and clean and there’s really nothing much else you can ask for. Room service was also excellent and prompt.
We stayed here for two nights and both days the breakfast was super delicious and the view was just amazing. The staffs were also very friendly and always strike a conversation with us on our stay in Modala and things to do around the area. We also spent the afternoon at the pool bar and we have to commend Markie for his excellent and professional bartending service. We had a really good time.
The resort was also located in a very convenient place with a small shopping mall right beside with a couple of restaurants with different cuisines, some smaller shops selling souvenirs, as well as a 24-hour 7-11 where you can get all the stuffs you need even in the middle of the night. There was also a pharmacy beside but it wasn’t open during the time we were there.
At the end of our stay, the resort also helped us with booking the Oceanjet ticket back to Cebu as well as arranging seaport transfer. We could’ve also booked some tours via the reception but we just wanted to relax all day because of what the resort offers!
If you are in Bohol you definitely should stay at Modala, won’t regret it! We really wished we were staying longer!!

Despite booking two Lantaw Sunset View rooms, the check-in team assigned me a panoramic view room without any mention. Even though I sent an e-mail saying that I was going with my family, we went to separate rooms!! When I checked the room and protested, he made an excuse to give me a room close to it. Even though you've assigned two rooms diagonally across the hall!! In the case of the panorama room, it was really the worst. The excuse of giving the worst room without privacy if you don't have a curtain that shows the car coming up was really ridiculous, and there was no apology for changing the reservation at will. I made a reservation last year because I had such a good memory, but it was so disappointing, and it was hard to see smiles or any greetings on the staff's faces. Also, I didn't receive a letter to evaluate Modala Resort before checkout. In addition, even though three people stayed in a room with added money, there were always two towels or emanatee settings, so I had to call housekeeping. Later, we left a message with a tip that we booked '3 people' before coming to the right towels and eminence. It's such a mess how to manage reservations. If this is not fixed, Modalarizot will never stay again.

It was raining and cold in Bohol when we arrived but we had a great stay at Modala Beach Resort. The room was really nice (exactly as shown in their photos!) and larger compared to other resorts. The room had a soothing, blue-grean ocean theme which made us not want to leave the room. There’s still no electricity in Bohol but they had a 24-hour generator running in Modala and also netflix on their TV. We couldn’t really swim in the beach because of the weather but we were able to entertain ourselves at the pool and Moadto Strip. Breakfast was also great - they had both Filipino and Western options and the servers were very attentive.

There are tricycles which can take you to several nearby places. But you can also rent a car/van with a driver for a reasonable price. We rented a van for the whole day (10 hours), it took us as far as the tarsier site and the Bohol Choco Hills,and several other places, there were 10 of us in the van, and we paid about Php 7,000 (approx US$134). A good deal.
