Just a WARNING to fellow travelers. Alona de Tropicana in Talawa, Panglao, Bohol will nickle-and-dime you EVERY chance they get, and generally treat you like garbage. My wife was yelled at by the owner for sitting on a plastic lawn chair, near the algae, frog and mosquito-infested 'pool', while our baby played in the grass. They shouted, 'This is not your property!' I was yelled at for sitting on a plastic chair in the dining area to use the internet while the internet in our room was down. After they fixed our internet, they CHARGED us for fixing their modem cables! We quickly learned NEVER to go anywhere outside of our residence for fear of being charged for something. When we told them we were moving out, they said they would charge 500pesos cleaning. On the day of moving, they wanted 1,000 pesos, plus charged 500p per day until this was PAID. Absolute money crabs.…
Alona de Tropicana is a good, affordable option to stay on Panglao, Bohol. The staff was warm, welcoming, and eager to help ensure our stay was positive and all of our needs were resolved. They helped to book transportation to and from the resort, motorbike rental to explore the island, and had great advice for our stay on Panglao / Bohol. The room was very clean, spacious and well-equipped. The location was within walking distance to a variety of tasty restaurants, pharmacy and convenience stores. Pleasant 25 minute walk to Alona beach down the main road, but was more difficult at night without lighting and traffic. Short (10 minute) trip from the airport, but no noise interruption from flgihts overhead. Happy to recommend as all of our needs were met. Best wishes to all of the staff at Alona de Tropicana.…
Very friendly people, clean room, GREAT shower. Due to a major jetlag we woke up too late for checkout, this was no problem at all. We booked a room via Agoda and this saved us some money, so check this in advance!
My husband and I booked this hotel because it looked good in the photos. The rooms were comfortable because its new. 1)There was a dead gecko in the bathroom under the towels. 2)You can choose to stay here if you dont mind dogs barking and chasing after you. We reached in the evening and I there were so many dogs belonging to the resort roaming around without a leash! I was told that the dogs dont bite. It doesnt matters if the dogs bite or not, but I wasnt comfortable with the dogs roaming about. I have lived in Europe and dogs are everywhere but well trained (always on a leash). 3)The lady who checked us in the night wasnt very pleasant when I told her to tie the dogs. The receptionists in the morning were courteous. 4)When we came for breakfast, we were served with a slice of bread! The kitchen ran out of bread. They sent the housekeeper to get some bread for us but we were almost done with the eggs and sausages by then. We were going to stay longer for a week but we decided to check out after a night. Try and make your guests comfortable. By all means, keep dogs but have them on a leash far away from hotel guests.…
