Detailed Reviews
We got great Mt Fuji view (make sure to ask for such rooms at the top floor while checking in). Overall excellent service. Except for the service at the OVEST Restaurant, with the menus quite confusing. The prices on the menu displayed on the wall before entering the restaurant and the menu inside are different. Our dinner took so long to arrive on our table. We only wanted a quick dinner, so ordered the Grilled chicken (not the full a la carte meal) as we were very tired from a full day trip to Mt Fuji. Besides, we've just finished a 20 days cruise with Diamond Princess with so much food available and we just wanted a light meal for this dinner. It was quite a surprised when we got the bill, and also we were charged two beers instead of one beer (corrected after checking with the staff)..

I've been a guest at the hotel in the past month of February 2023 and the experience was very positive.
The location is great, a few minutes away from the JR lines and access to all other lines on the Ikebukuro train station through the LUMINE entrance.
There's also an airport limousine bus stop at the hotel and it's possible to get a taxi straight from the entrance.
The superior queen room was spacious for the Tokyo norm, the bed was very comfortable, there was store space for cloth with hangers, the desk was very nice to have to use the laptop on and the bathroom was well equipped. Would prefer a shower to the bathing tub but I know these are very popular in Japan, so it's fine.
The stave was very friendly and helpful, always available to answer the silliest questions.
There is a coin laundry on premises but I found it always in full use during my stay. The laundry service from the hotel worked perfectly though.
The breakfast works on a buffet model from 6 a.m to 10 a.m and the selection is pretty good, the space is comfortable and spacious.
Will definitely try stay here again on my next visit to Tokyo.

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveler reviews.
We stayed in the superior room with queen size bed. The room size is slightly bigger than a standard hotel room in Tokyo. Room is comfortable but not great. One side of the bed is against the wall and this may affect some people who are used to have space on the side of the bed. There is no English movie channel. So if you want some entertainment at night, you will need to find other options.
The best feature of this hotel is its location. Its a short walk to the Ikebukuro Train Station. The area around the train station is highly commercial with many shops and restaurants. So its very convenient if you need to go to other districts in Tokyo or Japan, and need to so some shopping. The airport luminsine bus also stops at this hotel so that is another convenient feature.
I would consider staying in this hotel again if i go to Tokyo again.

We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Metropolitan. Staff were very attentive and went out of their way to upgrade us to quieter (and bigger!) rooms after hearing about our stay in a very noisy hotel just prior. We appreciated this so much! Our rooms were very spacious and well-equipped with lots of extras provided - pyjamas, toothbrush, toothpaste, hairbrush, shaving equipment, face and skin creams etc The mini-fridge was restocked with water daily. The bathroom featured a small but deep bathtub which also doubles as a shower. There are lots of restaurants and eating options inside the hotel, we particularly enjoyed Ovest on the 25th floor with views to rival Tokyo Skytree. The location was perfect for us, Ikebukuro has plenty of shops, malls, cafes and restaurants and the subway is just steps away from the hotel. We found anywhere we wanted to go to be easily accessible from there, suited us perfectly. There is a gym/fitness club which can be accessed for an extra fee of 2200 yen and it was very well-equipped, I did not have time to use the pool but it looked nice. The hotel is also a stop for the Airport Limousine bus which made getting to and from the airport very straightforward. What sets Hotel Metropolitan apart is the staff, they seem to be everywhere and appear at your side like magical fairies whenever you need help. They could not do enough for us and went above and beyond helping us to book dinner reservations, a trip to the Gotemba outlet mall and luggage forwarding. The pride they take in their work is evident and really made this a lovely stay. If I had to make one criticism it would be that the rooms could be a little more soundproof but I would love to come back to Tokyo and stay here again.

This is a very nice hotel in a fantastic location being a short flat walk from Ikebukuro station which is a huge station on the JR loop line one of the major lines in Tokyo so getting around is easy as is getting to the hotel from either airport as the hotel is a stop on the airport limousine bus service.
The area around the station on both sides has every imaginable shop, café, restaurant and some big department stores.
Check in for my six night stay in July was easy and I had a room on the 17th floor with fantastic views over the city.
Rooms in Tokyo tend to be on the small side and this room although it was a single was a bigger than most single rooms I have stayed in before in Tokyo and was in perfect condition and kept that way during my stay by the wonderful housekeeping staff.
The room has a lot in it which takes up a lot of room and doesn’t leave a lot for luggage especially if you have two big check in bags and a carryon. The bathroom was a typical basic Japanese hotel bathroom with electronic toilet and a full set of amenities which was replaced each day if they had been used.
There is a very small closet with a curtain but there are a a few drawers and shelves in the room for some more storage and a safe in one of the drawers. There is also a small fridge but it was also a drawer type one which I have never seen before but did a good job of keeping things cold during my stay.
Near the lifts on the ground floor is a well priced convenience store and a self-service laundry with washers and dryers and you can see which machines are free on your room TV but I didn’t find that to be very accurate as they would show machines available but when I went down within a few minutes they were all in use and you could tell by the remaining time they were in use when they showed free a few minutes earlier.
All the staff I dealt with during my stay were great.
This is a very nice hotel in a great location and I enjoyed my second stay here and would stay again.

Vast hotel on the outskirts of Tokyo in a business area, we stayed here for 3 nights as part of a land tour before a cruise.
Despite its size, the hotel was very quiet and well organised the staff were very polite and efficient considering the large number of people there. Breakfast was fantastic, so much choice and very tasty and well organised.
The room didn't have a great view, but was quiet very clean and comfortable.
The toilets were on another level toilet and bidet in one, and the bathroom had a lot of helpful accessories, toothpaste, brushes, razors, etc.
The area was busy being near a large railway station, but felt very safe. Lots of restaurants and bars, I enjoyed the time we spent here.

We like to stay at Hotel Metropolitan Ikebukuro when we visit Tokyo however it is booked up most of the time. We like to stay there because it is in a convenient location, the rooms are clean and the staff is friendly and efficient.
Convenience: The Airport Limousine Bus goes to and from this hotel. The hotel is next to the Ikebukuro Train Stations and the Lumine, Tobu, and Seibu Department Stores are in the Station. A huge Daiso is on the 6th floor of Tobu as well as Uni Qlo on the 9/10 floors.
Rooms: Although the hotel was built in the 1980’s, the room is well maintained and is clean. We are comfortable in the room. The hotel has a coin operated laundry room on the first floor so we don’t need to pack a lot of clothes.
Staff: The staff is always friendly and helpful. There is a baggage delivery service at the concierge’s desk so if you need to ship your suitcases to your next destination or to the airport they can do it for you.

This hotel was recommended by friends who were also on vacation with me and my husband. There were a total of 5 of us each in 3 separate rooms which I'll only review on our hotel room.
Hotel Metropolitan is located in Toshima Ku, Metropolitan Tokyo, Ikebukuro. It's just one block away from the JR Yamanote & Marunouchi Lines. Metropolitan Plaza has 2 large department stores, Tobu & Lumine. Ikebukuro is just minutes walk from the hotel and there are many stores, shops, restaurants and bars in the surrounding area.
I've noticed and hear that this is a very popular hotel for both Japanese, foreign, and people from Hawaii who come to Tokyo on holiday.
There are other restaurants on 2F as well as on 26F which none of us visited. Although there was a day where we used the Jexer's Fitness Club which was an additional
·2,200/day. I'll include in a separate post.
Hotel is very safe and secure. Elevator needs your hotel room key to activate. And when entering the hotel lobby, there are facial recognition cameras.
Rooms are standard small Japanese style rooms but includes a Western bed(s). Like all Asian Hotels, toiletries are included in the bathroom. In-room safe and a small closet. Self-service laundry room is on the ground floor near main elevators. It's an ideal hotel as the Airport Limousine Bus takes you from Haneda Airport with one stop at Ikebukuro Station.

My wife and I spent two weeks in Tokyo. With all but one night at this hotel, all we have to say is that this hotel is incredible. The rooms are huge, the multilingual staff are attentive and helpful. The room was cleaned every day by the meticulous cleaning staff. The bed was a fantastic size and extremely comfortable. The bathroom was as expected, a typical Japanese toilet with all the bells and whistles and a shower/bath, plus your amenities such as shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, toothbrushes and toothpaste (new ones every day). We cannot fault our stay here at all and will definitely be returning to this hotel on our next Visit.

This is my second stay at this hotel. The reason I chosen is their room could view Mt Fuji and the airport limousine stops at hotel. Also, it is close to JR or subway with convenience store nearby.
The room I booked was small double for 2 adults and it’s good enough.
