Bed was super comfy, even compared to other 4 or 5-star hotels. The rooms with the twin beds were bigger size, but they also have smaller rooms with just a double bed for 2 people. I love how the 2 twin beds were big sizes, almost like it was a small queen size. Kids who slept with their parents were comfy enough. Water pressure at the shower was excellent, it's like being in a spa and was perfect after a whole day out walking around Shibuya. The different floors had different themes, it reminds me of the small art hotels in Europe, only that it has Japanese themes.
Location was perfect. I was a bit wary of it being near the bars etc esp since we were a family with small kids but it was pretty safe. We even walked those streets the first night coz we got a bit lost walking back but felt safe. The hotel was also just steps from the restos and shops in the busy part of Shibuya, around Dogenzaka and Udagawacho. There's a Family Mart and 7 Eleven just beside the hotel. Even the JR station Hachiko Exit was just a comfy few minutes walk away. I would definitely stay here again.
The rate for the room was a bit high for a 3-star hotel (maybe bec it was on the end of the year holidays) but given the surprisingly great quality of the rooms, amenities and location, it was well worth it. We were a big group and occupied several rooms, check in took a while as we were a big group and there were additional protocols like taking everyone's temperature, etc, but they actually did a good job considering the amount of work needed to get us all settled. The front desk folks were very friendly, greeted us everyday and even gave us some Japanese snacks on Xmas Day. Also loved that they provided a bottle of water for every single day of the stay, plus a bag of fresh towels, yukata and shampoo, soaps, etc everyday even if we chose not to have them make up our room.
We stayed on the 2nd and 3rd floors while our other parties stayed at the 9th and 12th, and the noise level was acceptable even at the lower floors. The usual sirens and a bit of bar crowd voices but it all ended at the appropriate time at night.
Location is in heart of Shibuya.
Small room but all Tokyo hotel rooms are small - this was slightly bigger than others I have stayed at but still small.
Bathroom modern with very high tech toilet.
Complimentary coffee and pastries for breakfast in morning.
With that said, though, both the property and our room were clean. The staff was very nice, friendly, and likable, but the property seems like a barren building of hotel rooms behind closed doors.
Great location in Shibuya - one can walk to everything, but one late weekend night, we did hear people carousing outside for a few hours even though our room was about midway between the top and bottom floors. Shibuya is energy packed; the place does not slow down. I describe it as New York's Times Square on steroids. Personally, I prefer Shinjuku, which is still action-packed and offers plenty to do, but also offers an environment and vibe that allows one to recharge - at least it did for us.
Where the proprietary can improve is locking the main door at night, and perhaps even during the day so that one can only unlock the door with his or her room keycard Anybody could have entered the lobby but probably could not go anywhere else as one needed the room keycard to ride the elevator to the rooms. And, not all times was the front desk staffed, particularly in the evening. (Maybe the staff member was in the back behind the curtain watching on a monitor, but I can't write this with certainty; I'm just speculating about a possibility. Note, though, there is a security camera in the lobby aimed at the hotel entrance.
The hotel is next to two convenience stores, a vintage thrift store, 3 blocks from Don Quinote (a Walmart type store), a few blocks from the Scramble crossing, Building and as much shopping as you could ever want in your life.
The downside, no sitting area in hotel “lobby” for you to chill or figure out what you want to do next after a long flight or trip, no ice machine and there’s a lost fee charge if you lose or don’t return your room key.
I would def stay here again.
My daughter & I stayed in a twin room which was very spacious for Japanese room size. Definately recommend!!
I'm so glad that I did. I stayed in two different rooms, the first smelled so fresh because of the new wood walls. The window was frosted but the front desk gave me a key to open the window.
The second room I stayed in had a window that opened up to a small balcony overlooking the street. Amazing.
The hallways on each floor are themed. For example one looks like a forest, another has tons of Sakura blossoms. Super fun touch.
You should know that the bathroom walls are completely made of glass. Meaning that if you stand in the shower, you see the toilet and the bed. And if you are in bed you can see into the bathroom. There are blinds/curtains, but not all of the bathrooms have full coverage. I've been seeing more of this style bathroom recently. Not a deal breaker for me, but good to know. Especially for those new couples ;)
