Hotel conveniently located on top of the station. Room was compact but clean. Wifi and wired connections were good also. Shower power was good . Has a cafe at the entrance that helps in case of breakfast. Staff is very helpful and attentive to inquiries in person or by phone. I felt the isolation through windows were not the best as I felt the cold sleeping on the window side despite the heating system. There are some eateries around so eating is not a problem. Good for business people on a budget.

I stayed at this hotel in the first week of May, which is a national holiday known as Golden Week.
First let me say that some of the previous reviews are incorrect as to the location if this hotel. This hotel is located (conveniently) a 5 minute walk from the Toyocho metro station not Tokyo station. The best part about this is that Toyocho station has 2 elevators that bring you to street level within minutes. This is especially handy if you have heavy luggage. Just take the Keisei bus from Narita airport to Tokyo station for ~¥ 900 and then walk to Otemachi metro and take the subway to Toyocho. When you get to Toyocho, take Exit # 1 and use the elevators. Once at street level make a left out of the elevator and the hotel will be on your left just past McDonalds.
The check in process is smooth and painless. The rooms ARE small even by Tokyo standards, but at $57 a night it was a steal. PJs and all the usual amenities are provided along with additional toiletries/ hair care products available in the lobby at no charge.
The infamous Japanese toilet awaits you with all it's electronic gadgetry, enjoy!
Beds are comfortable, linens adequate. My room had a window with plenty of sunshine from the window. This is a quiet area of Tokyo, so street noise was not a problem. If you are a light sleeper, ask for a higher floor as the metro gets going at 5 a.m and will likely wake you up.
There are plenty of food options nearby including a 7/11 and Lawson's that have quick cheap take back to the room food.
I never spent more than $10 on any meal.
The area is very safe and gear for families as there is a large playground a few minutes walk away.
Get yourself a day pass (~$8) for the subway and you will have an easy and economical way to get around the city.
Tokyo can be a very expensive city to visit, this hotel makes it affordable for everyone!
I followed the Trip Advisor City Guides and made the best of my visit.
I highly recommend a day trip to Kamakura to see the giant Buddha and spend a day at the beach if the weather is appropriate. When in Kamakura, stop in at Daisy's Cafe for some awesome local grub and a pleasant beach view.
Please contact me if you have any questions or need specific information about local attractions.

Me and my partner both in our late 20's stayed at this hotel for two weeks (10-24 October 2015).

We arrived here very late and struggled to find the hotel at first, but the help of a map inside the Toyocho metro we found that exit 4 it's to the right when you exit the station or use exit 1 and it's to the left down the road.

We arrived at the hotel reception late in the evening and was seen to straight away. We was given a room on 4th floor (416), you have to use your room key to access the lift and be careful as the lift doors closes fast, my partner was caught in them the first night we was there.

The room was tidy although slightly small I knew this would be the case as I had previously stayed at another Fresa Inn hotel last year. We had opted for a small double bed it fit me and my partner in perfectly, the bed was extremely comfortable although the pillow was a tad hard and felt it had some sort of beads underneath but it didn't bother me and I got use to it.

There is a tv but this only showed Japanese channels however this did not bother us as we wasn't in the room for long most days. The room had a hair dryer and a kettle as well as a small fridge.

The free wifi was a struggle and at times it would cut out. There was a couple of days when we couldn't pick up wifi very well at all, I'm not sure if this was due to the floor we were on?.

There was air con in the room we used it most nights and it worked perfectly, easy to use and looked rather new.

The view from our window was not great there was construction work going on in the building next door but in all fairness we didn't hear any sound at all! the windows are really sound proof from the outside world, only problem we had was when we returned to the room late the road side officer would try guide us around the hotel when the pavement was closed and I had to pre get out the hotel card to show them before they would let us through.

The bathroom was small but again very clean, the toilet seat is heated and we always had hot water when we had a shower. The mirror in the bathroom is also heated so it was a bonus when half the mirror would steam up. They also had amenities such as shampoo, body wash and conditioner, along with toothbrushes, hairbrush, razors etc.

The room was cleaned everyday, if you do not wish to have the bedding changed (to be more environmental friendly) the room has this green card that you place on your bed when you do not wish to have the bedding changed, in doing so you are rewarded with a bottle of water, our towels were always changed daily though even if we had placed down the green card on our bed.

Outside our room we had a ice dispenser, microwave, drink vending machines and a trouser press.

There are a few convenient shops (family mart) in the area which we used daily, there was also two restaurants situated in the hotel which seemed fairly priced if you don't wish to venture far.

The hotel was very close to the underground and good for being fairly central, we were able to get to all the tourist attractions through the underground system.

Overall this is my second time staying at the Fresa Inn chain and I can say I am very impressed!

I would definitely recommend and stay here again.

My friend and I are seasoned travelers. As such, we have stayed in many hotels, big and small. Sotetsu is one of those which I will never recommend to first time visitor to Tokyo. Even though this Hotel is 1 minute away from the subway (Toyocho), it is still far from the many attractions such as Shinjuku, Shibuya, Ginza etc. The subway rides are expensive and it ranges from US$1.63 to US$5.70. The worst part of the Toyocho station is that they do not provide elevator or escalator from the platform to the exit. This means that any travelers with big luggage have to carry their bags up a few flights of stairs.

The Hotel was newly opened last December. However, it does not appear that "new" to me. If you are from countries like Malaysia and Singapore, do not expect the Hotel to lend you their adaptor. Instead they want you to buy from them. The room is small and dusty. Not many of the staff could converse in English. We have trouble communicating with them or asking for directions. When I asked them about the costs of a cab ride from the Hotel to Narita Airport, I was given wrong information that the cost is JPY3,000 (US$30.53)!!. Too good to be true!! When I asked whether they could book a cab for me and my friend, I was informed that they will charge service charges of JPY300 (US$3.53)....

Luckily, we do not trust the receptionist who gave us the info. When we asked another receptionist the next day, we were informed that the cab ride would costs JPY20,000 (US$203.52).

I was shocked at first when we went up to our assigned room, usually i only booked for 1 room with 2 single beds for the 3 of us, myself, husband and daughter. But to my dismay only 2 persons will be fit to their standard room, so i immediately went down and asked for a bigger room, Which they gladly granted, of course with an additional payment. Still were fortunate to choose this place aside from its location which is just beside the toyocho station the staff were so accommodating, every time we asked for a direction . This place didn't have an in-house restaurant so a breakfast was not included in our booking, but they do have 2 italian restaurants on the first floor and at the basement operating as a concessionaire and also McDonald and Yoshinoya were just around the corner, and if your planning to buy some souvenirs their 100 yen store is just a 3 minute walk from the hotel. It was also nestled in a business area were just beside a bank and their Post office . What we loved most about our room was their auto toilet bowl equipped w/ a touch button bidet . I just wish that they will extend their checkout till 12:00 pm and not 10:00 am . This place is highly recommended for a first timer in tokyo.

I've stayed in several budget business hotels during my city jaunts in Tokyo and, as with most, there are several positive and negative aspects of the Sotetsu Fresa Inn.

The basic rooms are tiny. This is fairly standard in Tokyo in general so as long as you're expecting it you'll be fine. Baggage will fit at the end of the bed but there's little room to dance jauntily around, if that's your thing.

As far as facilities are concerned there's a flat screen tv, equipped with cable. You'll be lucky if you can find any English programming but there's plenty of quirky Japanese talk/cooking shows to keep you entertained. The bed was a little hard and probably past its prime but still serviceable. The shoebox bathroom boasted a nice deep Japanese bath (as is the custom) along with thd standard well equipped toilet seats you cone to expect here.

The hotel offers free amenities, such as bath salts, different flavoured teas and basic beauty products, in the hotel lobby. Feel free to use liberally as that's what they're there for.

Breakfast is available for 430 yen per person at the attached Pronto cafe. It's a basic set meal but decent value for money. There is also a Saizeriya downstairs, which offers basic and inexpensive Italian food with a distinctly Japanese flair.

This place is spotlessly clean and housekeeping is to be commended for the amazing job they do.

As far as location is concerned this hotel is literally just outside Toyocho station (the best exit is 5 as the hotel is to the right, about a 30 second walk). Toyocho is a good hub for most of Tokyo's main tourist hotspots and easily accessible.

Ultimately I know for a fact you can stay in slightly larger rooms that are better positioned for tourists and cost less. However, for what it is this is still a perfectly serviceable, perfectly ordinary and perfectly adequate hotel.

My annual family trip to Japan this year happened in March. Usually our stay is always within Shinjuku - Ikebukuro, the JR lines, however this trip, we booked something out of the ordinary.
Toyocho, an area not very familiar to me, which is abt 20mins from Tokyo station via metro line.
Location: 9/10
If you exit from the metro station, you will see the hotel very nearby! Walk to the hotel in less than 5 minutes! Around you, there is a bus stop, a post office and several convinience stores. So its easy to navigate your way in the area.
Basically with the metro nearby, getting around is not a problem.

Overall Hotel Impression: 9/10
The staffs are friendly and helpful. Check in has been my smoothest ever! Furnishings looked new and well maintianed

Cleanliness: 9/10
The rooms are clean and mantained daily.
Towels were changed regularly.

Space: 8/10
Majority of hotel rooms in Japan are small, so space is never a luxury. However, this room is decent.
With a few minor adjustments of the furniture, it was comfortable enough for us a family of 3.

I would recommend this hotel if you are familiar with the metro in Tokyo and if you are not into the bright lights n bustle of the main Tokyo area!

My family (me, wife, 2 small children and my mother) recently stayed in in a Deluxe Triple (I think). We had 2 double beds and a single futon. The room was in good condition and included a small fridge, kettle, phone charger and a small but modern and clean bathroom. There was also excellent sound proofing in the room. Overall the room was perfect for our requirements.

The hotel has 3 restaurants (traditional Japanese, cafe and Italian). We had meals at both the cafe and Italian restaurant and were happy each time with the food suitable for unadventurous western tastes.

In the immediate area there are a ridiculous number of convenience stores where you can get a wide variety of light meals, a small grocery shop a block away, a ¥100 yen store (for souvenirs), a bakery and an assortment of western and Japanese fast food chains (all within 5mim walk). There is also a post office and bank next door. There is also a small playground with a 5min walk where the kids can stretch their legs.

There is a larger mall a 20min walk (one station) which has department stores, specialty stores and a large grocery shop.

The hotel is directly above Toyocho station which makes it convenient to get anywhere in Tokyo. Arriving from the airport (Narita is 1hr 20mins) you want to exit the Western end of the station where the lift is. From the station you are less than 30mins to Disneyland, Odaiba, Tokyo Central and Ueno. This isn't a touristy part of town but when we consider how quickly you can get to many of the attractions it is actually very central.

The staff were all efficient, pleasant and always willing to help.

For anyone who doesn't want a night club but is looking for a convenient, quite and clean hotel this is for you.

We were staying in this hotel on June 2013, the room rate was great value and very strategic location: 1 minute walking distance to Yoshinoya, Mc Donald, mini market, bookstore and Toyocho subway station. Two thumbs up for the housekeeping staffs. Well Done guys!!

Modern and clean with all of the amenities you need. Room was small but we only booked the cheapest. Saying that it was still good value for money.

The only downside i would say is the metro line this hotel is located on. Not the hotels fault but the line is very busy with business men. It was packed almost to sardine level at 10pm and when we needed to use it at 7am you had guards at each door squashing people in to make the doors shut before it would move off. Almost impossible to use if you have suitcases.

Ours didn't. It had a small couch, but the room was too small for a pull-out in addition to the double anyway.
