Hostel Hana An would be an ideal place for those who a) are looking for an experience of local life in Tokyo b) want to be foodie in Japan c) loves downtown atmosphere d) need a good sleep e) are trying to explore new things f) aren't willing to master a complex train transportation in Tokyo Although there are many hostel options inTokyo, Don't you think essential requirements are like the same to above?? Specially If you would like to feel and experience local life in Tokyo, Hana An is highly recommended. Guests who stayed at Hana An enjoyed our accommodations and exploring our neighborhood. We recommend you to try Sento (public bath) near our place to warm you up and grab some drinks at bars after. How about kick start your morning with a cup of coffee at cafe WAO next our place?? they have homemade scones. (Sunday closed) it's also good to visit Shibamata temple or walk around Mizumoto park to see the nature. It's direct access to major touristic places like Harajyuku (Meiji-jingu station), Roppongi(Nogizaka station) and Ginza(Hibiya station) without any transfer from our station. Even if you stay in center of tokyo, you can't see everything by foot.Once you use the train, there isn't that much time difference wherever you get from. From Narita Airport, Take Keisei line (Keisei sky access) to Keisei Takasago station and transfer to Keisei kanamachi line to Kanamachi station.(65min) From Haneda Airport, take Monorail to Hamamatsu station and transfer to JR yamanote line to Nishinippori station. take Chiyoda line to Kanamachi station.(70min) Alternatives: take a bus from Haneda Airport to Kitasenjyu or Kameari station and take Jyoban line to Kanamachi station(60min+10min) From the station to our guesthouse, it takes 6min by walking. on the way to get here, you can pass through Sento, bars and shops. We are looking forward to seeing you at Hana An!!!

The place is nice and cute but it was a bit sensitive with sound. The cleanliness was okay.
However, the check in process wasn't prompt enough. We had to wait for a bit until someone came and hosted us inside.
Most of all, we met the owner who was really really nice and friendly.
Our stay was good apart from hearing the snore from the next door.

Hana an is 6 minutes by foot from the nearest Keisei Kanamachi station, in a north east part of Tokyo. keisei Kanamachi is easy access from Keisei Takasago station where both Keisei Line limited express and Sky Access Line from Narita Airport stop. (I was lucky not to need going to central area with my heavy baggage.) Tokyo Sky Tree is just 15 minutes, Just 10 minutes to Yotsugi where is home town of football animation ”Captain Tsubasa”, each by train. If you'd like to go to the central area (for example Tokyo Station), JR Kanamachi station is also convenient.
This guest house was reformed and opened in 2015 keeping atmosphere of typical early Showa era style wooden house. It's calm day and night around the house cause of in a residential area. Guest rooms are small though, clean and comfortable, as well as beds. Shared toilets and shower rooms are separated as Japanese style.
Don't worry about foods. You can find local restaurants, fast foods, Izakaya, convenience stores, supermarkets or Starbacks Cafe around Kanamachi Station. (金町製麺 Kanamachi Seimen is recommended!) The affordable cafe is next door of the house, and you can buy some delicatessen in a meat shop in front of the flower shop.
The owner is very friendly and helpful. I'd join cooking experience of Japanese food in the guest house, when staying next time.

We had a pleasant stay for 3 nights. It's located a bit of a walk from the train stations, in a residential place and you get to feel the atmosphere of a Tokyo suburb. The place was comfortable but we were disappointed because the room we got wasn't what was shown in the photos.

We stayed here for a couple of days, and had a pleasant stay. Its not expensive and the hostel can be found in an quiet area around Tokyo, wich is nice if you want to escape the citycenter. Also, the neighborhood to walk around, and had everything you needed in the area. A small walk to the station.
The lady of the house was very kind and helpful, and spoke a bit of english. She wasnt always around, but we could always email here for questions.
We had a shared bedroom, wich was nice. Altough the room couldnt be locked, we felt safe enough to let our belongings rest in the room. The foto's of the hostel are a bit outdated. The only thing we mist in this hostel, was a comfortable livingroom area where you could sit after a long day of sightseeing. A kitchen, with refrigarator, was avaible for everyone to use.
We would like to thank the hostel again for a pleasant stay!

This is the place for those on a budget or for those who don't mind roughing it a little. Tokyo is very expensive and for our final three days in Japan, we reserved a large room here at the Hana An Guesthouse. We were pleasantly surprised. This is an old house recently turned into a guest house. Each room has either traditional Japanese futons placed onto tatami mat floors or custom-built bunkbeds. There are a total of 5 rooms for rent here. There is a common kitchen on the first floor that is immaculately clean. There are two shared toilet rooms and a shared shower room. Each of these locks from the inside when one person is inside. Though my wife and I traveled with two teenage daughters, neither we nor our daughters had any concerns about the place. It was for sleeping, and we were fine with the clean, no-frills approach. We met the other guests. They were from Korea, China, or the United States. The owner, Kaoru, speaks no English, so her daughter handles the reservations and communication. Both were responsive to our questions, though one should bear in mind that this is not a hotel and that there is no front desk. Much of it runs on a trust system. There is an old-school public sento (bathhouse only a block away), there is a laundromat a block away, and the Kanamachi train station is no more than a 10-minute walk. There are tons of restaurants, stores, and convenient stores in the area, plus the ubiquitous vending machines on every street corner selling soda, water, and beer.
