We enjoyed walking around the neighborhood which was very quiet and pleasant.
There are several train stations in the area. The closest station just about 3 minutes from the hotel but Google Maps kept recommending we use the Marunouchi line or the JR Suidobashi station across the river (about 10-12 minutes on foot depending on how fast you walk). Google Maps usually suggests the most direct routes so if we'd used the station closest to the hotel, we probably would have had to change lines to get to the places we wanted to go to (Tokyo Station, Akihabara, etc) whereas using the JR Suidobashi or Marunouchi lines, we could go to those places without any transfers.
The rooms are admittedly small (we got a small double room which is probably roomy for 1 but snug for a couple) but after re-arranging our things, we found that the room did not feel as tiny as when we first checked in. Room size is actually indicated on booking sites so make sure you check that information before you book. Those who want more space might want to book the double room or the double room with the couch. In our case, hotels.com only offered the small double so that's what we booked.
The rooms are small but there are some cozy seating areas by the breakfast corner. You can also sit and relax in the internet corner. The hotel has a very relaxed vibe and with free coffee, tea and soup packets from their drink bar, we enjoyed spending some time sitting and reading travel pamphlets in the lobby when it was too rainy to go out.
I believe this is a business hotel but the cheerful wallpaper made the room feel nice and homey. Our room was very comfortable but on the first afternoon (our flight got in really early so we took a nap once we checked-in), I had a minor complaint about the bed. The mattress was comfortable but for some reason, the box frame under the mattress was a little smaller than the mattress. If you're just one person sleeping in the middle of the bed, this should not be a problem but we were two in the bed and I could feel like my side of the mattress tipping. The staff was thinking of finding something to prop up the mattress to make it more stable but I asked them to just remove the bed frame and after that I slept like a baby.
The room was very clean and tidy. When they removed the bed box frame as requested, I did see some dust in some areas under the bed that are extremely hard to reach but they vacuumed the carpet before putting our mattress on the floor. I'm sensitive to dust, mold and mildew and I did not sneeze at all in our room.
The room came with the usual amenities (air-conditioner, tv, electric kettle, luggage rack, mini fridge with no freezer compartment, alarm clock, and a small sort of open "closet", etc.) including some extras like an air purifier and an extension cord with several sockets. I think some other things like irons are available upon request but subject to availability. No in-room safe but you can leave your valuables with the front desk staff but the staff is very trustworthy so you could actually leave your valuables in your room and you won't have to worry.
Another reviewer likened the bathroom to an RV bathroom and that's a very good description. It's a modular bathroom so it's very compact. Despite being small, it was very clean and well-designed to make the most efficient use of the small space. (For example, for example, the faucet for the sink and tub were the same but you just swung it over from the sink to the tub if you wanted to fill the tub. The same knob controlled the water temperature for the sink and shower but it was surprisingly easy to figure out and operate.) Just a note: since you have to take a step up (about 8 inches to get to the bathroom), I would not recommend the place for people with mobility issues.
The bathroom was well-equipped. Like most Japanese hotels, it had a washlet :D We had bath and hand towels, bath gel, shampoo, conditioner, hand soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, hair brushes and razors. Additional toiletries like cotton pads, ear buds, bath sponges, bar soap, shower caps and even Q10 men's face cream were available at the lobby. The hotel has a "shampoo bar" and you can try out different shampoos and conditioners. I tried a few like Ascience which was recommended by a beauty site on the internet but I found that the shampoo and conditioner in the room worked best for me. For some reason, I had not one, but two hair dryers! I think the one attached to the bathroom wall was a regular hair dryer and the other one was an ion hair dryer. Anyway, it was convenient that I had an extra hair dryer because I could blow dry my hair in the room instead of in the bathroom. The bathroom also had two trashcans. I kept forgetting to ask if one was for a certain kind of trash.
The complimentary breakfast was simple (hardboiled eggs, different kinds of bread, coffee/tea/juice/milk, and things like cheese, jams, butter, mayo and catsup) but delicious. I don't normally like hard-boiled eggs but Japanese hard-boiled eggs are brined so they're tasty straight out of the shell. Lots of guests were making mozzarella toast using mayonnaise and grated cheese (pop that into the toaster for just a few minutes till golden and bubbly then squirt on some catsup) and I really recommend it. If you want something more substantial, I suggest you head over to Jonathan's which is just about 5 minutes away on the corner of the main road (it's on the second floor, on top of 7/11) which offers both western-style and Japanese options at very reasonable prices.
Coin laundry prices are reasonable but please note that unless you do a very small load, the dryer does not get your clothes very dry after one cycle (30 minutes). Just hang your damp clothes in the room for a few hours and they should dry out. In the Philippines which has a long rainy season, some companies manufacture laundry detergent for slow indoor drying. I think I should bring some of that the next time I go to Japan.
The best part about this hotel is the staff. Everyone was very kind and service was very warm. Based on a previous review, I thought that English might be a problem so I made it a point to brush up on some Nihongo basics but I felt silly trying to use my clumsy Nihongo because several staff members spoke English well and I found that all of them understood English well enough.
We had a bit of a funny mix-up with our schedule. We had a company-booked hotel room for our 7th and 8th nights in Tokyo. We had to book our own hotel for the first part of the trip though and because of some miscommunication on our end, we booked Hotel Wing for one night longer than we had to. My husband and I laughed at our mistake and since I felt so at home at Hotel Wing, I decided to stay there and my husband stayed at our other hotel. He just visited me at night and came to pick me up and check us out the following day. He agreed that while Hotel Wing was a smaller hotel, service was very warm and that made it such a great place to stay.
Thank you for making our first week in Tokyo very comfortable. We look forward to staying at Hotel Wing again soon.
Just two suggestions I hope you will consider:
1) maybe you can have hooks in the room so that guests will have more space to hang their coats, etc. since the closet is rather small
2) many of the appliances have signs in kanji, maybe you can make small signs in English (ON/OFF) to make it easier for non-Japanese guests
Thank you!
The free services that was a nice surprise to hear about when we arrived such as free cotton buds! free drinks and free breakfast made our trip so much better saving our time and money for a whole week.
A big thank you to the staff members on me and my partners behalf!
all the best!
