Detailed Reviews
Traveling here for work about 16nights, we were a big group.
Pros: Room in the new wing is perfect. Breakfast is great for me. We had wifi trouble and they were ready with a repeater. When we requested for a new room, we were easily given, perhaps because it was more expensive.
Cons: upon check in we were advised we could use the pool and gym upon request so they could have someone "guard" the vicinity. Lies. Not once in the over 2 weeks were we able to use the facility. Then, I was driving a car. Had to wait for some odd minutes for the car to be picked up. The guards refused to let me wait in the lobby area. When we asked if we could wait in the parking area, manned or unmanned, guards say no not acceptable. We are guests they could easily call us up to move cars but no. When asked where we could wait then, they asked us to wait by the main road. MAIN ROAD. I dont think thats snart. When i refused (cause hello), the guards (by this time there were 2) started their drama about losing their jobs and having mouths to feed, because it's hotel policy to not let anyone wait in their car by the lobby. Later on, another female guard let me park in a smaller area at the end of the parking lot, thank goodness someone had brains. Takeaway from this is they care about the security of the hotel and security of their jobs, but not about the clients. Subsequent to this, as in days after, my friends were saying the guards were looking at me unkindly. I thought long and hard about my security and safety and decided to hold it and not complain anymore, one more night I sai. It will never be ok to ask your clients to wait by the main road cause its not smart. So no, as much as possible, i would rather never stay here again.

In the middle of the city of Tagbilaran we have Metro Centre Hotel.
A good hotel, me and my family slept well in a two bed room with a quite big toilet.
We took a dinner the evening we arrived and they had a lot of choices to select from.
Very serviceminded employees.
It was also one guy playing fantastic piano songs during the dinner which gave the dinner one extra touch of elegance.
Breakfast, filipino breakfast + chef who did omelettes. It was good and our family was happy and ready for a new day to explore the philippines.

been here from this hotel couple of times already, and boom! was shocked and at the same time happy when i saw the buffet area was full of food! because the last time i was here, it was okay but the food is limited. but now it has a lot to choose from. from the pancakes, congee station and egg station. yes! egg station! they have it now, i can finally choose what kind of egg dish should i have.
the hotel itself is good and improving, they are still under construction but they are getting there.
Food in the resto, something is new also. i ordered rice bowls and some of the asian food choices. it was really good! i ordered soup birds nest my favorite since before and some indian dishes.
I will be back with some friends! nice improvement!

We checked in to this hotel for a recent business trip. I used my corporate card to check in. When I returned to Manila, I was surprised that my card was used in online shopping and was charged over 170k! It was my first time to use my corporate card since getting it from my office.

Response from MetroCentre_Hotel, Manager at The Metrocentre Hotel
Responded Dec 18, 2017
Dear wandermomcc, Greetings from MetroCentre Hotel and Convention Center! Please allow us to respond to your comment regarding your credit card concern: First, the title of your review, “Beware! They clone your credit card!!!!” is a serious allegation that accuses the company and its staff with theft. As a professional and legit business entity, we still conducted a thorough investigation regarding this matter. We did not find any irregularities that the company made in its transactions through your credit card. May we, therefore, demand indubitable proof that the company “cloned your credit card”? It is imperative that we gather tangible information that would validate this allegation. Second, the insinuation that the company or one of its staff “used (your card) in online shopping and was charged over 170k!” is mere speculation and logically faulty in its conclusion. Please provide concrete documents (e.g. billing statements, receipts, or photos) that would support your claim. Third, your accusation, without any solid evidence, is tantamount to libel. We will take all the necessary legal actions that would clear the name of the company from the wrongdoing with which you falsely charged. Your defamation resulted to undeserved discredit, and reputational damage to the company and its staff. Respectfully, The Management MetroCentre Hotel and Convention Center

The web site of this Hotel shows you a paradise. Once you stay here, you will realize that, this Hotel is nothing but a glorified lodge sold as a Three star Hotel. The hotel rooms are too small, untidy and the approach to the rooms is dangerously narrow. Hotel staff are friendly, but the restaurant staff are totally unfriendly and exploitative. For all this stuff, the price one has to pay is simply exorbitant.

I visited Philippines for 2 weeks with my wife and 3 year old son, and while the whole trip went off very well, the only sore point was my one day stay at this hotel. The location is no doubt convenient (though there are quite a few beach resorts further from the airport which are much better for a vacationer who wants to relax), but thats the only thing postive about the hotel.
The first thing i noticed upon entering the room was that the room and the interiors were quite old (more like a cheap motel) and definitely what you would expect for the rates charged.
The second thing was a notice from the hotel about the presence of sugar ants in the room, and advising guests to avoid keeping food outside.
The bathroom wasnt very clean and the shower curtains didnt even cover the shower completely leading to lots of water falling out, leaving the whole bathroom messy.
Even worse, there were a few cockroaches (not one or two, but quite a few) in the bathroom
When i turned on the shower, the water was not even lukewarm and i had to call houskeeping who came in and increased the water temperature.
The water then was slightly warmer but even that relief was shortlived, because when my wife went to the shower after half an hour, the water was once again colder than luke warm.
We called housekeeping once again but the next morning when we we used the shower, the same problem occured and by then we were so frustrated that we just used the luke warm water and checked out as soon as we could.
At night when we turned on the aircon, we found that the aircon remote wasnt working, so we called housekppeing for the third time that evening. The person who came up was friendly but of no help. The aircon remote's batteries had died and instead of just getting 2 new batteries, this person came up with a whole bag of loose/ used batteries and started trying them one by one. This trail and error method would have taken so long that after the first few batteries didnt work, i just asked him to leave, deciding that we would adjust as well as we could.
To our horror, during the whole night, the aircon switched off by itself 6-7 times, which meant i had to get up everytime to switch the aircon on, so we couldnt even get a good nights sleep and rest.
It is appaling how cutting corners on maintenance and small things is pursued at the expence of inconvenience to guests. The rates charged are not cheap, so we would expect that the hotel management gave us our moneys worth and ensured that regular maintenance is carried out and basic requirements are met.
One last thing - i had listed all the above points in a feedback form, where i listed my contact numbers and email address, but i never heard anything from the hotel.
I would not stay at this hotel again and would recommend all my friends to avoid this hotel.

an average hotel, the price is not commensurate to the services and facilities. Wifi is so slow, smelly carpet and difficult reservation through phone. I called this hotel five times in 3 days just to ensure that I am booked, see how stressful that is? During the first to fourth calls, they did not sent me the confirmation of my booking, so on the fifth call i told them to cancel my reservation..immediately, they send me the confirmation. However, when I called again to provide my flight details for the shuttle service, AGAIN, they said that I am not yet booked with the hotel. stressful!
For the management of this hotel, may I suggest that you will look on the foregoing matters as your subject for improvement.

I will firstly say the good bits about this hotel
+ Staff are very kind and friendly
+ The hotel is in a very very good location (Right in the middle of the city)
+ There is a nice shop next door selling food / drinks / souveneirs / clothing
+ Quite close to the airport (We got a free transfer if I remember correctly)
+ The floor we stayed on had free wifi which was quite fast compared to the other hotels I stayed in.
The bad things about this hotel are
- Carpet in our room was stained and smelt very damp
- On one occasion we got one rude staff member (The bread served with breakfast was stale, apparently thats what filipino bread is like ?)
- Make sure you ask for a window room because the rooms without windows are dark and have a wierd window looking into where all of the aircons are.
Overall an average hotel which was comfortable enough to stay in, the location and price are the hotels best features.
