Nestled in the bustling city of Tagbilaran, Bohol, sits a humble home that embraces 1950's Filipino architecture with hints of modern touches. Restored to its glory days, Casa Genaro is the lolo's (grandfather's) house you always want to come home to; welcoming, unassuming, and always a good time. Casa Genaro is conveniently centered amongst the pulse of the city. It is an easy 10-15 drive away from the airport, seaport, and shopping centers. It is also about 30 minutes from the beaches, and other tourist sites such as The Chocolate Hills, The Loboc River, The Baclayon Church, Panglao Island, and The Blood Compact Site. At the same time, visitors can also take a quick 10 minute walk from the hotel to the heart of downtown for local restaurants and nightlife whenever they please. Casa Genaro is your cozy island cottage home away from home. It preserves tradition through quality, and is able to keep up with the changing generation by providing familiar comforts and modest amenities. Casa Genaro is your hip lolo's house, and it would be our pleasure to show you around.

Positives -nicely restored old ancestral home - along the causeway road - spacious rooms Negatives -paid for a 3rd bed. It was very uncomfortable. I had to sleep on the sofa instead. - overhead shower was clogged with calcium deposits due to hard water. They should clean the shower heads. -Hot water was not really hot. Little water coming out of shower. - soap provided does not “bubble” diento hard water - breakfast is mediocre, weak coffee- but I guess you get what you pay for. - no blanket provided for the spare - should provide drinking water dispenser for the rooms upstairs not the thermos bottlers -staff should clean and make up rooms daily without being told If they improve on these negatives, I would recommend this place because it’s a nice house on a good location

I stayed in Casa Genaro for 3 nights, waking up to fabulous breakfast by the lovely Ate Susan, and sleeping in an enormous, plush, comfortable bed. The days were filled with activities, but always began with a full, well laid out breakfast, real coffee, and useful tips on how to get around. The house is a beautiful refurbished colonial home with spacious rooms, wooden floors, and artistic accents of the family heritage. It is located smack in the center of Tagbilaran town, a short walk from the church, shopping centers, and action. The bathroom and shower were luxurious, rooms were spotless and private, and everything was thought of, including yummy snacks in the room. I would recommend this very conveniently located, comfortable, safe, and clean accommodation to everyone.

Residence turned into a bed and breakfast place, it's prime location in the city allows one to have a good staging point to visit the many wonderful sites of Bohol island. Coming home to a quite and comfortable place after a tiring day of touring the island makes Casa Genaro the perfect place to rest and relax. The staff were very accommodating and attentive to our needs.

It is like a vacation home with your own household help. Rooms are neatly renovated to modern styles are the air con is powerful. It was a bit haunting since I was the only customer in the whole house but the caretakers made me feel at home. You can walk to town and the local mall. The street could be busy though with tricycles. Very close to airport and ferry port. No pool though. And if you venture to the back of house, it's not a pretty sight.

My fiancee and I stayed here in July 2014 and had a wonderful time. It's very central and close to restaurants in the city. We rented a car and drove around the island, and there was no problem at all with parking. Our hosts were extremely nice and accommodating, cooking us an amazing breakfast every morning and it was relaxing to just enjoy being indoors in the air conditioning. The house had an authentic old fashioned style which I loved. Thanks so much for an unforgettable stay.

It's like staying in a museum that has comfortable beds, rooftop terrace and wonderful staff who look after you from the moment you arrive till you leave. Beautiful wooden floored rooms upstairs painted lovely rich colours and with art hanging from each wall, shelves of old books, knick knacks everywhere - if you'd designed it yourself you'd be proud. Downstairs rooms have no wooden floors but are also home from homes. We stayed (my mother, me and my 2 year old daughter) just one night as we were meeting my wife before going to Pamilican Island, but this is the only place I would stay in Tagbilaran - tried the recommendations in the Lonely Planet, including Sun Avenue and they were soulless and overpriced. Our daughter loved pottering around the huge upstairs area, opening cupboards and bouncing on the bed (sorry!). Breakfast was huge - eggs, rice, sausages and lots of bread and fruit plus limitless tead/coffee/juice. I think they should ask you what you want for breakfast and how much as we ended up with a few things we didn't want and just a bit too much food. The staff looked after us faultlessly, including helping to arrange excellent and reasonable onward transport. If you are getting the boat in/out of Tagbilaran stay here or use it as a base for exploring Bohol. A Taxi from the ferry port should be 250 pesos (seems a lot but you are not being ripped off at 250) and a tricycle would be around 100 - we took a taxi as too many bags for 1 tricycle.

Hands-down one of my most favorite places to check-in to! The staff were very helpful, the prices quite reasonable, and the rooms were very spacious and well-appointed if you ask me. It has a very homey vibe in a way that makes you feel like if you ever had a dream home/room, this would be it. It is also very close to the city center, you can take a 5 minute walk and be at the Tagbilaran Cathedral in no time. Would definitely recommend this to anyone.

Location is close by a bridge. A lovely house with a great homely interior. Unfortunately a fishing community has appeared close by over the years since the house was built but this is not a problem other than the noise from a constant stream of traffic going from Island to town centre. Bedrooms are large and spacious. The AC was not really up to cooling such large rooms. Breakfast was normal downstairs in the court yard. There is a nice roof area for enjoying the sun. Easy to walk 10 minutes to the Cathedral and restaurant served by deaf waiters. Great food at a reasonable price.
