I went to book a room after I saw was available in booking.com and all the stuff looking at me like was a alien and saying is nothing available. I call the manager who had little English and she also tell its no room available and looks me like I was naked or something. Left very disappointed and 1 hr later I checked in Booking.com and they posted ( 2 room available) . Useless service , this place should close down due to mental disability management and employee.

This place has so much potential to be such an amazing spot, it's a real shame that cutting corners & apparent laziness just kills its value. The location is gorgeous, right on the water yet minutes from the center. They've got a tasty restaurant that's very affordable, the rooms have windows, wifi, hot showers, all at *extremely* good prices. The rooms are large and comfy. Unlike most places you'll find in the Philippines, there are no barking dogs or roosters in the immediate vicinity. Sounds like a dream, right? Unfortunately, they seem to have no interest whatsoever in actually maintaining the property. Just in my room alone, the shower head mount was broken, the shower nob fell off the second I turned it (+it started spraying water across the room), & there are exposed wires everywhere (patched in some places with electrical tape). Many of these problems could be fixed by a handyman in a matter of minutes, but apparently they don't feel like it's worth bothering. Note: I actually called maintenance about the shower nob, and he sort of just pushed it back on and said to turn it carefully - indicative of this place's approach to "repair." The other (in my opinion much bigger) problem is the WiFi. Many know that the internet speed generally isn't the best in the Philippines, but here it was simply worse than anywhere else I'd stayed (always in the same budget, a month of travel so far). They even knew this when I checked in, saying up front that it's unreliable - but I thought I'd give it a shot anyway. They weren't kidding. Sometimes it would work, and others it could take 20 minutes to load GMail. Clearly there are *much* better connections available in this city, as I eventually moved to another hotel where it was rock-solid and at least 10 times the speed. But rather than rectifying what they clearly know to be a problem, they seem to just shrug it off. Would it really be so hard to spend an extra buck or two a month to get at least semi-usable bandwidth? In the end, I was very sad to leave. I looked at like 10 different places before staying here, as I just liked the location, quiet, & amenities so much. But having to spend hour after hour just trying to respond to a few e-mails ultimately made this place a no-go.

In my experience, I guess Casa Rey Francis is one of the most budget friendly hostel that can accommodate you in Tagbilaran City. The room that we had is an ACC room which only costs us less than P700.00. All complete with toiletries and two (2) single beds. We just have one problem, the heater is grounded at that time we went there. Hope they fix it already. But all in all, its okay.

We stayed two nights at Casa Rey. On the positive side... - The location is pretty good given it's near the town center - If you get one of the rooms with a view, you face the ocean which is pretty. - They do have Wi-Fi which is adequate to check email etc. but not sufficient to stream any video unless you sit near the front desk. - The rooms have little TVs with a good selection of channels. - The day staff are friendly. - The security guard at the end of the driveway is really friendly. On the less than positive side… - it is quite run down - e.g., curtains have falling off the window, taps not working, water heater for hot showers broken, some outlets don't work, floors are damaged etc. - it's not the cleanest place - although the sheets are clean. - A cockroach visited my traveling companions bed during the night. I think for the money – you could probably stay somewhere a little bit better although it's pretty cheap to stay here. Just have low expectations and you will be fine. I would give it a below average rating [but this was not possible on the rating scale]

Our 2nd time around in this Pension house. It's budget friendly. That's all. The management needs to renovate this Pension house. The faucet in lavatory and shower is broken. Interior paint is gloomy and faded already with some stains and even the cabinet handle is broken. You can hear guest in other room talking because of the plywood wall. I have some issue with receptionist who gave our reservation to other customers. I book 1 week in advanced for the room i like and they confirmed it but unfortunately still she gave it to other guest. We caught some male staff lying in bed while watching TV with no top shirts. He said he was cleaning the room and was surprised...LOL! I don't know if this is really a Pension house... LOL again! Attention: Owner and Manager WAKE-UP!!! Pros: - Good Wifi reception in room - Food menu is budget friendly

Decent place with the usual amenities for backpackers and on a tight budget, although don't expect much. Staff were polite. Had free airport transfers (considering their price) which was a plus for me. TV sucked. No phone inside room. Near the town proper; I actually walked from the town going home. Also near a barbeque house which opens during night, a must try.
