Our local contact booked and recommended this place to us so she booked us here. Was kind of skeptical at first because was not really used to staying in pension houses. But I was in for a pleasant surprise. We were given a 2 room apartment in the second floor which was very spacious and had complete amenities such as a refrigerator, stove and utensils. There was also a dining table and a sofa bed. The place was totally spic and span clean and had no bad odor. Rooms were spacious enough for 4 people each and bed was comfy. There was also hot water and pressure was okay. They also gave basic bathroom amenities, towels and blankets. But I would recommend to bring your own toiletries as their toiletries can be quite small. Only thing that needs improvment is that they should add a toilet bidet and hopefully they could already upgrade their fridge and aircon which was already kind of outdated and rusty. The aircon in our room also malfunctioned on our last night so it was very uncomfortable. All in all a pleasant stay and it is really worth the price since you would just be sleeping in anyway. Will recommend to friends on a budget.

This is a family owned small hotel with fantastic views over the small strait to Panglao Island. It is soooo quiet at night yet it is still in "downtown" just a short walk from a lot of essential services. The owners are super helpful with advice. There is a roof deck where you can relax or bring some food to enjoy while overlooking the water. The price is also quite reasonable. Negatives: no sink mirror in my room for shaving and the water pressure in the shower was weak (but there was hot water). All in all I give it high marks and would gladly stay again.

Stayed for one night but really loved this place. The staff are great. They provided free hot and cold drinking water and helped us out with travel questions. The standard rooms have a nice balcony with pleasure g views over the sea. There is a really nice vibe here and it's super value. The only place to stay in Tagbilaran.

Place is near the center of Tagbilaran, and several tricycles ply the route, making it accessible going around. There are several restaurants around, and it's near the seafood market. The lady at the reception said they have rooms which have cooking areas, but there were only 2 of us, so we didn't bother to buy and cook. Matig-a can be a stop over after the taking the Countryside Tour. With the very affordable price, spending more than three days would not hurt the pocket. Room and bathroom are clean and smell good. Beds are comfortable, airconditioning ok and has hot shower. Most of all, you have a view of the sea from the balcony. Breakfast is served on the open deck, also with a view. However, most tourists go to Panglao Island for the beach and island hopping activities, so it's more practical to book accommodation in the Panglao instead, which was around a 30-45 minute ride. We booked our first night here and transferred to Panglao the next days.

We stayed last week for 4 nights. The staff is very friendly. Our room was facing the sea and no traffic noise. Just 5 minutes walk to downtown. Clean room, a/c, cable tv, big wardrobe. Our bathroom did not have a mirror, but had a full body mirror behind the main door and second one on the bedroom wall. Fast wifi. No lifts- not recommended for people with difficulties to climb stairs.

Great location. From Tagbilaran Pier to Matig-A, it takes about 10 mins by tricycle with a 50 peso cost, plus a 5 mins walk to downtown, where the landmark church across from a lively park, cafe, supermarket, food stands, banks gather. To my surprise, the high-recommended filipino resto Payag just ahead of Matig-A by a 2 mins walk, while Gerarda's just within1 km. The room itself is simple and normal, with an attached walk-in-shower bathroom, aircon, two single beds, a closet, a desk. But the room we stayed on the 2 floor wasn't clean. There was a bunch of ants crawling in most of the room area. The other fault was no hot water, the temp feeling like the water in the sun, a bit cool. The guesthouse opens the rooftop as a lounge and dining area. Here's a bottled water dispenser providing boiled water and water refilled. We camp up here to enjoy our fresh brewed coffee that went with the breeze and clear bluish seaview early in the morning. In result, the price Matig-A charges is a bit higher, compared to what it offers. But the great location is the remarkable but also only advantage it has.

We had a very splendid 3 nights here, the owner was kind and helpfull. We could leave our big backpack when we spent a night outside of the town. The water preassure is poor, but has warm water, a/c and free wifi, see view on a moderate price. I csn recommend this HTL to everyone
