Detailed Reviews
When I booked the Dao Diamond Hotel, we had to call them on the phone, as they don’t do online booking. They suggested using Facebook Messenger in the future.
We booked a Superior room with a microwave, sink, and refrigerator. When we checked in, we asked to see one of their refurbished Deluxe rooms while our Superior one was being prepared. The Deluxe appeared to be a larger and much better room, though it didn't have a microwave or sink (they both had refrigerators). We'll try the Deluxe room next time.
This hotel has mostly-deaf staff, though the girl at the front desk hears; I believe the organization that runs the hotel is right next door.
A bulb inside the door of our room and another over the bed weren't working. The lighting in our room was dim. The WiFi didn’t work on my girlfriend's phone, but the desk agent was able to get it working. The safe was too small for a laptop. The bed has a sheet, which I prefer to the heavy comforters you usually get in the Philippines. The only water in the room is paid. We couldn’t find a way to turn off the bright TV, with no signal, so we unplugged it. The satellite receiver was still lit up, however. The AC is fairly noisy, and there’s some street noise too. I found a bug on the paper I was using as a mouse pad. There were more towels here than at other hotels we stayed at on this trip: face, hand, and shower ones. There was lots of counter space in the bathroom, but it was otherwise tight. The toilet paper was rather weak.
A la carte breakfasts were 200 pesos each. I liked my girlfriend's hot dog with rice: it tasted a bit like an English/Irish breakfast sausage. When we ate dinner at Kahiki Café the food was well prepared and the fries were outstanding. You have to write out your order for the waiter.
We didn’t try the pool, but it looked nice.
My impression is that this is a superior hotel by Philippines standards, at least if you get the refurbished Deluxe room.
When we checked out of Dao Diamond, they only charged us 1,812 pesos, $33 at the time, not the $41 their website indicated. They had a tuk-tuk there to take us to our next destination.
We ended up rating Dao Diamond the 3rd and 6th (me and her) best hotel of the thirteen hotels we stayed in in the Philippines on this trip, and it was the favorite in Tagbilaran for both of us. It is a ways from the town center, of course, but not too far from ICM mall.

Stayed at Dao Diamond Hotel for about 3 weeks with my whole family :) We are Boholanos from Australia. My husband, daughter (5yo) & i stayed in 1 room & my parents on another :) We really love the vibe. We highly recommend this place if you want to be away from the hustle & bustle of city life & just want to relax and have your own quiet time. They have a restaurant & pool onsite :) Everyday, our room gets cleaned by their friendly housekeeping staff. Great job by the way & attention to details :) Also their kitchen staff who by the way are deaf/ mute, does a great job as well. Although sometimes they dont understand what we mean because of communication barriers ( we try to do sign language by the way :) but seems to be easier if we write on a paper what we want :) Also the all reception staff which our daughter calls, “Ates”, are very friendly, shows good rapports to their guests. They also helped us along with the other hotel staff to set up my daughter’s last minute birthday party in their hall :) Last minute means it was booked 2 days before the party.. thank you! We have also met the owns/ runs the hotel which by the way runs it incredibly by giving opportunities to deaf & mute community. High respects to what you do :) Hope we could comeback again the next time we go for vacation. 10/10 ♥️

It was very nice. Someone directed us to it, before phone service was restored, and I didn't realize that they employed deaf people, until we were in the dining room.
I'm starting a small tourist place, where we plan to have some positions for PWD. So I was very pleased to stumble upon this place, that I see functioning so well.
A few people in our farming community, have suffered accidents. I will attempt to create positions for those with mobility issues. I'm also making the whole place very accessible for guests with mobility issues.

I am writing this today, july 19 2018.
I checked in yesterday ang checked out this morning.
I admire what they do- supporting and hiring the deaf and mute.
My problem is the hotel itself.
Our rooms were rilled with mosquitos.
The bed was not comfortable.
The worse part is the food in their Chico restaurant.
We ordered the rice tippings for dinner last night...and it was disgusting. It was like left over food that stirred in a wok and out it in a bowl of rice..the price is abt $4.
Needless to say that we did not eat our food.
I did not want to be rude, so i jyst asked the one on the front desk, who is not deaf nor mute, to place another order for us as we were still hungry. That was about 8:45pm.
The hotel staff jyst kept on walkung to and fro the kitchen until she just went back to her station.
I aporoached her and asked if our new order has been placed. She looked at me and said that the kitchen no longer wanted to cook since their last order is at 9pm - we were not informed of this.
The only remedy they can offer is that they will not charge us for the disgustingly awful dinner.
After realizing that it was pointless to argue, my staff and i went to bed hungry and disappointed.
This morning, we had our complimentary breakfast...the night before, we were told that it would be a single-line buffet. It was not.
I wish i could have taken a photo. Their ham breakfast was a piece of ham so thin that i was afraud tgat the wind would blow it off my plate. A small egg, a cup of steamed rice, a small piece of watermelon, and orange juice diluted in water. Luckily it came with the room charges as this breakfast for the birds costs $5.
The worse part is that when we were checking out, THEY CHARGED US WITH LAST NIGHT'S DISGUSTING DINNER, even if they said they wont, because according to their manager, who was not there last night,we should have complained earlier. We paid for that awful dinner because i did not want to give the impression that we only wanted a free meal.
We had arranged for AIRPORT transfers both to and fro
We were fetched at tge AIRPORT yesterday.
The incompetent front desk staff had us for SEA port for today. Luckily we overheard her giving instructions to their driver.
What they do employing the deaf and mute is commendable. I admire that but...
DONT BE FOOLED. The hotel looks nice but the rooms had mosquitos, the food was very very bad, the staff were inconpetent, and their manager was clueless.
I use tripadvisor before i book any hotel be it domestic or international. I appreciate the reviews previous guests give as it helps me decide.
Thats why i took the time to narrate my experience for the first time.
I wanted to return the benefirs i fet from using tripadvisor.
But hey, its your money, right?
Good luck on your next stay in this hotel.

Response from AprilleGeniston, Manager at Dao Diamond Hotel & Restaurant
Responded Jul 19, 2018
Mr. Edward, I am just amazed as to how people used social media for venting their anger . I would like to remind you that when you first checked in, you never bothered to listen to general instructions given to all our customers upon check-in which includes the time a food order is accepted which is no later than 9 PM. Our front desk informed your staff about that. You ordered almost at 9 PM (our front desk staff even reminded you that we will only accept orders before 9 PM) and you ate almost all of it before you complained. What we understood as customer and business owner is that when you taste the food and if you don't like it, you complain right away and demand for replacement or refund and if it was disgusting as described in your review then why eat most of it and then complained. I don't understand how you went to bed hungry? By the way, our rice topping is one of our bestseller food. Regarding mosquitoes, every now and then, they get inside the rooms but if you only called the housekeeping to spray the room then the mosquito issue will be resolved right away. You're a big guy (almost 6 footer) for a Filipino and you bullied the front desk staff and even our manager who are three times smaller than you, yelling at the top of your lungs. You are for sure not a gentleman and seem to be mad at the whole world. There was no reason for you to go WILD and browbeat to small female hotel staff. Does that really make you a big man? We will be really happy if you will not return to our hotel ever! In fact we have black listed you if you ever do try to come back to this hotel. One more thing, 99.9% of are guests are very happy with our hotel and services. Your opinion matters little. Marilou

We went to Bohol last June 5 to celebrate our 5th year anniversary. We stayed there til June 8. At first I went with a travel agency to book us everything. It just so happen that it was too heavy for the budget. A friend of mine suggested to just have our vacation on a mano-mano style...contact directly to the resort or the hotel. No more agencies for us to get a much lower rate. As I run thru the sites of hotels and resorts in Bohol I found this unique place...Dao Diamond Bed and Breakfast Hotel. It operates with deaf impaired person as its employees. By booking with them, we are also helping deaf impaired persons get a quality education, training and support. Their place is not that big but we had a great time staying there. The place is so quiet although it is in the city. The room we stayed is so clean and complete with tv, aircon, microwave and mini-ref. Their food is also great and with very reasonable price. Dao is a good place to stay to enjoy a vacation. You and your belongings are definitely safe there. The staff are very courteous and energetic. They are always smiling and that realy makes to brighten up your day. Their manager, Wea Gutierrez...wow! simply terrific in handling the operation and the guests itself. Ms Wea is the one who provided us our day tour to different tourist destinations in Bohol. One whole day is not enough for a tour. But still...it is a wonderful experience.
So when you think of visiting Bohol, try booking at Dao Diamond Bed and Breakfast Hotel. You'll definitely enjoy your stay in Bohol.

Stayed at the Dao diamond hotel on way back from panglao island and what a nice place it is for a good rest from the somewhat commercial area of alona beach. This place is so laidback its almost horizontal, most reviews on here tend to centre on the fact that its run by a deaf charity, but the memory I take from here is just the relaxation of the place, late checkout- no problem sir, extra towels- no problem sir, book a free airport shuttle-no problem sir and so on. Now we come to the food, when we saw the low cost of items there was the fear that the standard would be low, no such thing here well done to the kitchen staff as it was excellent.they also have a little fish spa in the garden for a nominal fee, great stuff after breakfast. So my suggestion is don't concentrate to much on the fact that its run by deaf people, just visit this place and chill in the laidback atmosphere of this most excellent little hotel

This place is run by a local NGO supporting hearing impaired children and many of the staff are deaf. It's professionally run, clean and secure. The front desk staff all speak and will translate if necessary, but it's fun communicating with the deaf staff; they have a lot of patience with us. The hotel is on the outskirts of Tagbilaran, but handy for the airport and close to ICM shopping mall. It's quiet and has a nice atmosphere. Wifi and breakfast included. TV has a full range of channels.

This is one of te best guesthouses i've ever been to. 20% of the staff is deaf and that makes a very rich experience to communicate, they are very impressing. The rest of the staff speaks sign langage perfectly and are a delight to talk to. They were very elpful during the -sadly only- night we spent here.
Prices are great, the rooms are really clean and the restaurant is very good and cheap. I strongly recommend, considering it doesńt looks at all like a normal guesthouse. More like a big resort , with a guesthouse vibe.

Dao Diamond is my first choice after I've read so much reviews of different hotels where to stay at Bohol. Mainly because staying here will serves for a cause.
They responded so quickly in every emails that I sent to them. And on my reservation they didn't asked for any amount in order for me to be reserved for our accommodation instead they gave me an option to made my initial payment once we arrive. we traveled with 4 adults and 2 kids. Staff are really friendly, and accommodating. Our room are very spacious and my kids really love to stroll around the vicinity of the hotel. We stayed at Family Room 110. They love the fishes and the turtles in the front of the reception. No mosquitoes. Foods are great at the Chico Cafe, very affordable and in reasonable price. Everything in the menu are available.
Our tours are great! If you stay at Dao Diamond and asking for a tour at the reception, I am highly recommend Mr. Tata Perez, one of their driver/tourist guide. He is really great, friendly and give so much information about Bohol.
On our trip going back to Bohol, still Dao Diamond is our first choice.

A great way to learn sign language. I admit I didn't know what to expect at first but turns out I was worried about nothing. The staff, both deaf and non-deaf, are super nice, friendly and always smiling. They have pictures of sign language gestures that come in handy. My room on the 1st floor was spacious and my bed was huge! The only thing I didn't like was how loud my neighbors talked. The people at the front desk helped me book a city tour. I needed to go withdraw some cash so I asked the front desk where I could withdraw money. One of the workers was getting off work and offered to take me to the mall. I ended up riding on a dirt bike with 2 other people in front of me. The scene was like from a movie!
