Habitat Guest House offers budget-friendly yet decent, clean and comfortable rooms for scuba divers in Sabang, Puerto Galera, Philippines. Affordable scuba diving courses and fun diving are also offered here through partnerships with top-rated dive shops in the area, all well within a short walk away. Non-scuba divers are welcome to stay too, of course! There are plenty of things to do in Puerto Galera other than diving. But please know and understand that there are no TVs in the rooms and staffing is limited from 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM since this is (just) a guest house and not a full-service hotel with plenty of on-site amenities. The guest rooms are simple yet clean and well thought of. Aside from the basics, there's a shared kitchen/dining room for all guests and an awesome view of Sabang Bay and Batangas from the shared 3rd floor balcony.

This place has got everything you need to have a perfect island vacation. The room is beautiful and has a complete kitchen. The bedroom is very cozy and the view from the balcony is awesome. I'd highly recommend this to my friends especially if DIVING is the goal, because just downstairs the best diving shops can be found too!

I wasn’t really expecting a lot in staying at cheap hotels/hostels/inns but Habitat was a superb surprise. The rooms were clean and new. The bed was comfortable. There was always hot and cold showers. The AC was working well but there is no TV. Free Wifi was good. Service was excellent!
I really love the common kitchen which is always kept clean and organized. Hot and cold mineral water is free flowing.
I couldn’t find any fault in this property. My stay was very homey and I would definitely come back!

Hello Doc and thank you for the raving review of the guest house! It's really very heartwarming to read that you enjoyed your stay and found the accommodation worth coming back to. We're still thinking about putting TVs in the room and I really hope we can within the year. Safe travels, Doc and we hope to meet you there when you come back.

We stayed at Habitat for our dive trip in Nov 2018. Very happy with the place. It is well-located, on one side of the Sabang beachfront. This means that you are away from the noisy and active parts but still within a 5-minute walk to the center. It is a few feet away from the ocean and commands wonderful views, we woke up early every morning to enjoy a coffee on the terrace. Great place to sit for drinks in the evening but we were diving so there wasn't much of that :)

As a guest house, it does not have its own restaurant but that hardly matters because there is a variety of options within easy reach. In any case, we wanted to try the food at several of the nice places around. It does have a common kitchen where you can cook whatever you want, if so inclined. Importantly, there is a water cooler in the open kitchen and you can top up at any time of the day, rather than having to walk to a shop to buy.

The rooms are very nice and comfortable. On a diving holiday, what I wanted was a place with hot water showers, clean bathrooms, air-con rooms. Habitat has all this. There is wi-fi available in common areas, but I did not need to use it so I am not sure of how well it worked. There are safes in every room. The place is quite new and things are in very nice condition. I hope they keep it this way.

The housekeeping staff is friendly and efficient. Don't expect uniformed formality, though.

The Sea Rider dive shop is located just below (the rooms are up a flight of stairs). Mark and his team, Rico and JR, manage the dive shop and are very professional, knowledgeable and friendly. We had some great dives with them. This is a smallish dive shop so you are saved from the experience of waiting around for large groups to coordinate.

Yana and Bryan were our hosts. While I did not get a chance to meet them in person, they were very responsive on email and phone, especially important because I had some troubles with money transfers to make payments and they were very kind and understanding about the whole thing. Yana also provided me with detailed information before our trip, which was quite helpful.

One of the best dive trips I have been on and I will be back for sure, hoping that Habitat doesn't change - will surely stay there again.

Super easy to find and near the Sabang port. Great choice for divers looking for some peace quiet (the guesthouse has a diveshop on the ground floor). Has all the facilities I need- unli drinking water, clean rooms, cold AC, a shared kitchen and friendly staff. Oh! And Great views from the balcony :)

Modern, Simple and Clean that pretty much sums it. Will definitely come back! Hopefully very soon!

Since my friends and I have chosen to dive with Sea Rider, we decided to stay with Habitat for convenience. And it turned out to be quite a nice surprise.

First of all, the rent is very affordable. We shared the room, and each has to pay around 700p for a night which is a really good price. And it's much more spacious than we had expected. Especially considering that we have three big luggages and that we each have a bunch of electrical devices that need to be plugged. For this price and this space, it's just unthinkable.

Second, the accommodation is quite new, and hence the facility is very modern and clean. I only have one point to make is that the water seems quite salty and sometimes we felt a bit sticky even after bath. We don't know if there's anything to do with the water system of the whole island or whether there's something wrong with Habitat's water system. One more small point is that, it'll be nice to have two towels per guest, or if the staff can offer fresh towel each day. They did change that for us upon request. Just that it'll be even more sweet if they can take the initiative.

Third, the staff are very friendly and helpful. Just like anywhere else in Philippines, the staff always wear a big smile and are willing to offer a helping hand whenever we are in need. The only slight problem is that, it is hard to find the staff. We witnessed more than once (even we encountered the same problem) that when a new guest arrived at Sea Rider, the staff at Sea Rider asked the guest to go to the second floor to find the staff of Habitat. Not long afterwards, the guest will come back down and say that he / she cannot find the staff for check-in. Guess this is one of the problems that need to be addressed.

Fourth, the wifi. Oh yes the wifi is kind of a problem but guess every guest house encounter similar problem so we can hardly complain.

Fifth, we LOVE the pantry. Since one of our friends is sick and cannot dive, she used the pantry to cook us breakfast and dinner. It's amazing to have cooking utensil and stuff for us to use. I'm very impressed.

In conclusion, I'm extremely pleased with my stay and I will recommend this place to all my friends who plan to travel to Puerto Galera.

Dear Lam K, Thank you for leaving an in-depth review of the guest house. I'm really very happy to hear that you are pleased with the property and our services, albeit a bit limited and with a few challenges that we are working very hard to overcome the soonest and best way possible. The goal of the guest house is to provide an affordable alternative that is clean and acceptable to most scuba divers in Sabang, Puerto Galera - with that goal, one challenge is staffing effectively without driving operating costs further so we can remain "affordable". Rest assured that I am currently working on a solution that involves self and automated check-in. This is something I'm looking forward to and I'm sure that guests will also find value in this since finding the assigned room and checking-in will be easier and faster. The tap water being salty is indeed a source problem that affects most establishments in PG. Since opening the guest house, it's unbelievable that we have spent a lot of money for 3 water filters to run 24 hours and minimize the saltiness and purify the water further. Fixing this involves the local government to supply us with better water which they promised to do within the next month :) ah the pains of having a business on an island away from the city! To end this - From our emails prior to your arrival and the feedback I received from Kat and Irwin (HGH staff), you were great, "easy-to-have" guests for which we are very thankful for. Safe travels and I'll make sure you'll be surprised with the improvements made when you come back.

A great place to stay after a whole day of scuba diving.
The place is brand new, just along the beach. Rooms are simple and clean. Awesome beach view. Wifi is available on all floors. The common pantry is a plus if you want to cook your own food to save money.
There is no TV though, you don't need one anyways as TV reception in sabang is bad and you went there to dive.
For the price, it is the cheapest i have seen in Sabang. Quality-wise, it rivals other Php2,500-3,500 rooms there.

Sea Rider Dive Center is just downstairs where you can hang out or just return to your room during surface intervals. You dont have to walk far.

Randy, Thank you for the raving review of the guest house. Simple, clean, inexpensive and perfect for scuba divers is what we planned for when we built this -hearing others say that is music to our ears. You're on point when you say that people come to the guest house (and Sabang, Puerto Galera in general) for diving, so having no TV in the room is just fine and keeping the property clean should be the priority. But we've come to a point wherein we also have to consider guests/travellers who aren't diving. It's something that we need to revisit and carefully study as this might drive the cost up. We hope to see you again soon and we're again very thankful for your review. BDP

The combination of diver shop and ammodation is SUPERB, specially designed for divers.

After every dive, we can simply go back to our room and prepare for our next dive. Everything is super convenient: diving spot with 30min boat ride, ordering food delivery right to the dive shop/ guesthouse.

The room is very clean and comfortable to stay. We were lucky to have our room right in front of the balcony with 180° seaview! The staffs are very nice and friendly too. They patiently answer all my questions one by one, making our trip to Sabang incredible!!

Definitely going back soon.

Bryan and Yana aren't lying when they say that this is perfect for scuba divers especially those like me diving with Sea Rider.

After a long and tiring day of diving, there's nothing like a clean and comfortable bed, hot shower that really works and free wifi (that sometimes does not work because of Globe Internet, not their fault ).

It's exactly what we divers need. The price is just right compared to other rooms in the area. It's clean and simple with everything every diver would want.
