Tour guide or Tuk Tuk will take you to these Bungalo rooms in the country. We picked up groceries and cooked in the kitchen, which is shared with two other rooms. We had it all to ourselves. Clean room, with private bath near Lake Atitlan. The Bungalo is surrounded with flowers and coffee bean plants, orange, lime and other fruit trees. The view across the lake of a near by volcano is breath taking. Great place to relax for a few days. The owner lives behind the Bungalos and is a very good and reasonable priced tour guide. He took us everywhere. With him, language was never a problem.

Beautiful, peaceful, and a real deal!

I spent one week at Olga's clean and oh-so-pretty place - then changed my flight so I could stay another week! Kitchenette, sauna, garden, privacy, this lovely, harmonious hideout has it all. Couldn't have been more happy! pros: -HUGE room, everything is artistically decorated, slate floors, large bathroom w. warm water. 1 large, 1 small bed, good matress, curtains, screens, clean! - My own terrace with wicker furniture, shaded by gorgeous hanging flowers. -Well-equipped kitchen just steps away, and you share it only with two other rooms. -Nice seating/lounge area next to the kitchen, with paintings, umbrellas, plantings. -a bit outside the village, so there aren't as many dogs and roosters and general noisiness. -5 min walk to Las Cristalinas, one of the best swimming areas of the lake. -LOVELY, warm, caring hostess that will look after you like a mother. -San Juan was, to me, the nicest village at the lake. Friendly and relaxed, very traditional yet with good touristic infrastructure, and not half as expensive as nearby San Marcos! Cons: -wifi was a bit spotty. I will say Olga was always proactive and the service guy was here every day, and then it lasted a little while. If you really need to work from there, though, check with her if she has found a better provider by now. I would trust her honesty implicitly. -It is a 20 min walk to the village center, or a 5 min, $ 1-2 tuktuk ride (always easy to catch a tuktuk there). To me, that is actually a pro, since it keeps things peaceful and ensured that I got a little exercise!…
