Up until the 1890's, High Mill was the village corn mill, after which it became a sawmill. In 1912 the Bainbridge Electric Lighting Company took over the site but The National Grid reached Upper Wensleydale a few years later and the mill returned to being a sawmill, driven by the old water turbine. It now has a different role that welcomes the discerning visitor, inviting them to delight in its heritage. We offer three rooms with generous en-suites, the two doubles with Four Poster Beds and a twin bedded room with stunning views, all furnished in keeping with the surroundings. All rooms have hospitality trays, hairdryers and flat screen TVs with DVD player and there is a separate TV lounge to relax and unwind in should you so wish.

Roxana, our host, was superb. She has excellent local knowledge so please do ask her about bedt routes and places to visit. The decor was very artistic and breakfast, cooked to order by Roxana, was excellent. Worth waking up at 8am while on holidays.

Thank you for your feedback. I'm disappointed to see you haven't enjoyed your stay with us, if we would've known about the issues you've had we could've done something about them at the time. We can't do anything about the stairs but we do let our guests know in advance about them and there are also photos of the stairs. We offer a full menu at breakfast with more options than just scrambled eggs and we do a vegetarian breakfast too, you just have to ask. Regards, Roxana C.

Just come back from a two night stay. Room was lovely with tea, real coffee and biscuits provided. Nice shower room even if the water pressure in the shower was a bit weak. Breakfasts were very good and Roxanne is lovely. Parking a bit tight sometimes but overall a lovely stay

Hi Steve, sorry we missed your question, I blame technology. We have a pub, a lovely tearoom and a fancy restaurant in the village. Also about a mile from here there are 3 more pubs. You'll be spoiled for choice when it comes to walks, my favourite is the walk up to Lake Semerwater, about 4 miles round trip.

Are you dog friendly?
I'm sorry, but we don't take pets due to allergies.
