Sharing my experience at Chardham camp leisure hotels Barkot The camp at Barkot is good, what makes it special is the the camp manager and staff. very responsible camp manager and staff who takes care of everything you need....right from hot water to breakfast / tea / dinner . Highly recommend stay at Barkot camp.Delicious food. Harsil The camp at Harsil is average as compared to Barkot, however the location of the camp is very good, right next to Bhagirathi river. Camp needs to be upgraded. Average staff and average food. they take care of you well, provide you with hot water bags after your tiring day. Little camp upgrade and more attentive staff needed. Camp manager makes good attempt to meet your requirements. Guptkashi The camp at Guptkashi is to be avoided at all cost. Camp facility is similar to the one at barkot, however the camp manager and staff is not responsible at all, for 2 hours even a flask of warm water will not be available and when warm water arrived after 2 hours it was heated in tea kettle and it was tea water ……. they will keep passing on to house keeping and house keeping on kitchen. no warm water available for shower, they will say water motor is started.....after you will wait for 15 mins and then go back looking for them then they will go and drain cold water, be prepared to follow up unless you follow up for an hour no warm water / new towels will be available. Food quality is lowest. Tea / milk / breakfast/ dinner not a single item will taste right. After room service for food dishes will not be picked up unless you tell them 3-4 times next day. Joshimath The camp at Joshimath is average. With Joshimath traffic jam you will not be in a condition to see anything……you will arrive exhausted from Guptkashi to Joshimath camp. Aloha on the Ganges Good property. You will like dinner and breakfast spread available at Aloha on the Ganges as by now enough of same menu for 10 days of poha/ bread butter / paneer / bhindi / dal and roti daily..... One things to keep in mind is all your 8-9 days you will get same breakfast and dinner daily....not a single item change so be prepared to eat daily poha/ bread butter / paneer / bhindi / dal and roti daily..... One things must to be avoided is taking car for your trip from Leisure hotels, highly overcharged / senseless driver who will drop you 1-2 kms away everyday in the name of traffic. Most location only BSNL / Airtel work and even if you somehow manage to get in touch with driver after darshan to pick up he will not come back to pick up, you need to walk back 1-2 kms. Driver will not get ready on set departure time and he will threaten you in the middle of your route that car will be parked at 8 pm, even if you don’t reach your destination and you will be told to make your hotel arrangement even if you have fully paid / booked whole trip with chardham by leisure camps. Driver will not let you stop for washroom breaks or breakfast even though he doesn’t get ready on time, we are expected to have breakfast/ kids milk / tea etc in moving car only.......in the middle of the day driver will start driving at the speed of 20 km an hour because he decides to take night halt at 8 pm in one particular area and he will inform you to find / book room there, so he will purposely drive slowly that by 8 pm we reach that area. The driver will keep telling you that chardham team has made wrong itinerary and its impossible to reach destination and will ask you to talk to booking office to change night stay location which they dont change and driver will keep driving only at 20 kms and make you suffer by delaying your arrival and you spend your travel time literally requesting both parties to make your trip work. We got driver from Tern Travels and this particular service provider must be avoided. Very very arrogant driver. Even when we used local shop keepers phone to get in touch with driver as we had Vodafone and didn’t get network, local shop keepers by taking for 30 sec said that your driver is very rude, neither he will say properly where he has parked the car not he will come to pick you up. The driver from Tern Travels to be avoided. The booking team of Chardham by Leisure camp is not co-operative at all, they claim to do this yatra for 25 years, however the travel time which they say 7-8 hours goes beyond 10 hours with no breaks or max one break of 10 mins. The traffic jam at Joshimath is beyond anyone’s control but if this tour operator is operating for 25 years do they not have any experience for this traffic jam every season, why are the customers not informed, why does the driver not inform that there is a possibility of jam, do you need 5 mins washroom or snack break, they are clueless of the travel time and just make itinerary on paper and gives booking only of their own camps even if its 10 hour distance between camps and the customers are not informed in advance and driver will ask you to get booking changed. There is a complete clash of driver and booking team.

Dear Guest, Thank you for having written a detailed review on your Chardham Yatra. We are extremely happy to note that you have attempted to do the same as it is a once in a lifetime opportunity. We have taken note that you were hosted well at most of the camps and your appreciation for the staff. It is much appreciated. We have taken note of your observations for the Guptkashi camp and we share your concern on delayed services. Rest assured we have taken up the same with the team. It is a rare occasion that you may face something like this at any of our camps as they are known for the services and we at Leisure Hotels ensure the utmost satisfaction of our guests. These are Vegetarian locations and we try our utmost to ensure that you have maximum variety in spite of the Rugged terrain and weather at all our camps. We make it a point to only cook fresh meals with a homely touch in Desi Ghee for all sessions, nonetheless there is always scope for improvement and we shall attempt to improve even further. On the Travel front, you would appreciate the fact that with such a busy Yatra there are bound to be delays on the expressway during the peak period and hence the time sometimes takes a little longer than anticipated while we have no control on such circumstances. Our Itinerary has been developed keep halts and the general time taken to reach the Dhams. Parking near the temples is also a concern during periods hence the Drivers have to park a little further as it is for all concerned. We have nonetheless taken up the issue for the same very stringently with the Travel Agency responsible for this and shall ensure that improvements are made. Again I would reiterate that this is a rare case and we manage the yatra through the season with multiple departures each day and it is not a common occurrence as you have experienced. We thank you once again and hope to have you as our guest in our properties across Northern Indian.

I really enjoyed my 3 nights at Chardham. The tents were spacious and clean. The beds were comfortable, the food delicious and the staff friendly and helpful. The view is amazing. The only improvements they could make would be with the hot water which came out of the tap, once they got it sorted, looking a bit rusty. Also there was no laundry service so I had to hand wash some stuff. Other than that, I am really happy to recommend staying here as a great base to visit some of the old and powerful temples in this region

Nice food and staff, clean and functional accommodations. I had a pleasant and comfortable stay here and really enjoyed the meals. It's right by a helipad that offers amazing mountain views at sunrise.

This camp is a little away from Guptakashi town. It is also a Leisure Hotels property, and the third such one I stayed in during my Chota Char Dham trip in June 2017. The camp has a beautiful view of the Himalayas. Ensconced in the mountains, peace and quite serenade you at this camp. The tented accommodation was similar to Barkot and Harsil. This camp serves as a base for the Kedarnath Dham. The most outstanding feature about this camp (besides its views) is it's exceptional staff. They are really hard working and work overtime to make guests' stay comfortable. Most people leave for the yatra as early as 3.30-4am. The staff is up and about and ready to serve the guests. The food served at the camp is wholesome and appetizing. They comply with guest requests on packed breakfast/lunch options most willingly. The dining room has a television, where guests can watch programmes. The tent was spacious and provided with a fan, but seemed more run down than the ones at Barkot and Harsil. The bathroom and the tent had no stands or provision for hanging clothes and towels. The beds were unusually HARD. Once again, WiFi would have been appreciated to improve connectivity. We had a pleasant stay at this property and I would recommend it to pilgrims and trekkers alike despite it's few shortcomings.
