We had a lovely three nights stay. Some of the rooms have been more renovated than the others but all just as comfortable. Shower had very warm water and the heaters warmed up to room super well! The breakfast was very enjoyable with many sorts of cheeses and meats. They make you eggs in the way you prefer them. They don’t have very many parking spots but you can park on the nearby streets if needed.

Set uo some steep roads on the outskirts of a rather unusual eastern German town, this hotel is a good choice. The decor is rather dated but totally functional. The hotel is spotlessly clean, a tribute to this family run hotel of about 20 rooms. The bedrooms have all you require, the beds are surprisingly comfortable and the bathrooms are sufficiently equipped. Many rooms have a balcony. As mentioned before, the decoration might not be to everyone's taste, it does appear rather 70s/80's but this is not a criticism. Parking spaces for just two cars but there's plenty of on-street parking in the surrounding roads. Breakfast is a good, typical german breakfast - nothing outstanding but more than adequate. Pleasant stay if you're in this part of the southern Harz.

A lovely hotel, with good breakfasts, and good location if you have a car. Parking is inadequate to occupancy, however. We travelled as two families, each with a 1-year old child, and had talked to the owners while making our booking online to confirm that there would be a child-bed for each. In the initial conversations, the owner appeared quite welcoming of our children, and was well aware of their age. Alas, we were not very welcome once we arrived. The hotel did have child beds for us, very nicely made up, but at breakfast we discovered there was only 1 high chair. For the next 3 mornings, one child sat in the high chair, while the other was propped into a backcarrier on a frame. Not a good solution for anyone .... Unfortunately, despite providing child beds and 1 high chair, the proprietor was sullen and rude about our 1 year old dropping food on the floor. The high chair came without a table top, so there was nowhere to place his food than on the table and tablecloth. I asked for a drop cloth to protect his carpet, and the next morning was told to "be more careful" about my son's eating. From that time on, while remaining civil, he never looked me in the eye, and made me and my son feel extemely unwelcome. Nice hotel, and they think they are materially equipped for small children, but don't know how to cope with the actuality.
