Detailed Reviews
Lots of pluses. Chose this area as didn't want to be in the centre of Alona .Loved the location easy to get into Alona beach but quiet and peaceful. Our room was lovely, certainly one of the best of our accommodations in the Philippines bed comfotable and large and slept very well.
Very spacious with ample hanging and drawer space. Nice decor on the walls and fitting to the surroundings. Good size terrace where you could relax. The bathroom feels like an outdoor one and is very tastefully done. The swimming pool is large and well kempt frequently saw a man cleaning it and maintaining the property. Villa Formosa only has 7 rooms so it felt a nice intimate accommodation. They have their own trike and so if you want to go into Alona it is easily sorted and costs 200php driver friendly and polite. 10 minute walk down to Dumuluan beach .Friendly staff especially Cham I think she was called.
Breakfast is slightly unusual. There is the choice of western or Fillipino with plentiful top ups of tea/coffee and an Italian desert at the end. It did feel slightly samey after a few days and I would have been happy with another option of fruit and granola /yoghurt . On leaving we took the Villa's trike to the port .
No hesitation in recommending

Nice small place with a secluded and private vibe. Nice pool in the gardens. Comfortable to sit in restaurant and look out to the gardens/pool. Friendly staff. Good simple breakfast with some extra homemade desserts. Room was simple, but clean and spacious, with a good sized terrace for sitting out to chill on. Location is maybe a 5 minute walk to Dumaluan Beach. There's a charge of 100 pesos per person/day to access the beach. Worth it for such a beautiful beach (much better than Alona). If you want to enjoy Dumaluan beach for a few days, this place is very reasonably priced. We did experience a bit of noise from loud neighborhood karaoke singing places, and the nearby go-kart track. If you book tours through the hotel, make sure all the details are clear - we twice experienced the people who took us on tours asking for more money than the agreed rate.

Great accommodation at a very reasonable price. Our villa had large bedroom that had double bed and a single. There was also a fridge to keep your own drinks cool. The bathroom is large and spacious. The owner and staff are very friendly and helpful. They organised a tour for us. There is space to park 2 cars and multiple bikes. The pool is big and a jacquizi too. All food is freshly prepared and speciality is Italian as the owner comes from Italy. Location is 5 mins walk from dumaluan beach. 100 p to enter as 2 resorts own the space. You can access for free via a public beach back along the main road. It is quiter around here compared to alona, Which we find a positive. You can easily get a trike to alona if you want it a bit more lively. There are a few bars and restaurants in the area. We have enjoyed our time at Villa Formosa. We highly recommend it.

Nice place with good service from the staff.
The pool is super clean - we didn't use the nearest beach.
Took a tuk tuk to South Palm for 100p - and walked the few hundred meters home along the beach.
Good breakfast.
There are quite a few mosquitoes and it is important to use mosquito spray.
There is a go cart track nearby but we only heard a little noise on Sunday.

This was our last and worst accommodation during our 3 week trip. On arrival it was clear that villa formosa had been neglected for some time and probably left to locals to manage and muddle thru. No one helped us when we arrived and staff sat watching us drag our bags and first thing they asked for was the 650 pesos taxi money from the port which we hadn't booked but was waiting at the port for us. on entering our delux room we found odd cups (1 large / 1 tiny), just two towels for two people (again 1 large / 1 tiny). Rusty bathroom items, a shower curtain as a real curtain to block outside seeing in. A bin for toilet paper with no lid on it or even bin liner! (not nice or hygienic when a lady is on her period!) wardrobe doors that wouldn't open and then... A large window with a broken lock which could be accessed easily. Within ten mins we wanted to leave as felt so uncomfortable and wish we had. On reporting the window we were told it would be fixed the next day so went out to the beach but when we came back we saw nothing had been done and our room had been unsafe all day! We were so shocked and upset and had to then ask again for it to be made secure. Finally someone tied it up with metal wire whilst we were showering. Everyday for four days the American breakfast wasnt available as they were missing items and again it just showed lack of care for the western guests to which that was all we saw. It was a miserable end to our trip and i really regret booking and staying. The girls were friendly but had limited English and limited answers to questions. it was just very unprofessional and uncared for as were guests. Even our taxi to airport ended up being a pick up truck which was obviously some friend of the staff as had someones mum in it! i really would not reccomend this to anyone sadly.

We spent almost two wonderful weeks at Villa Formosa. The staffs is extremely attentive, service minded and always make you feel exceptionally welcome. The resort is well maintained and has a high level of cleanliness.
After having tried several of the more high end Panglao restaurants I can confidently say that Villa Formosa is in the definite top. One of the managers, Mathias has extensive cooking experience from several top restaurants around the world which is clearly noticed in the cooking.

We stayed six nights at Villa Formosa as a group of four including my elderly parents. Overall, we were very happy with the accommodation. The best part was the staff who were unfailingly attentive, friendly and helpful. They really made the place feel like a friend's country house than a hotel. So thank you for that.
Breakfast included in the stay was just OK, but it was hearty and freshly made, and coffee was very good. Italian food for lunch and dinner was delicious. By local standards it was not cheap, but we were happy to pay given the quality (and it is a great deal compared to what Italian food costs where we live).
The pool is very well maintained and of a decent size for swimming. The hotel ground is big enough to provide a feeling of seclusion.
The rooms, though, were not especially great. We stayed in two deluxe bungalows. They were very clean and spacious but dark. Expect mosquitos, which are difficult to kill because of the high ceiling and all the nooks and crannies. A mosquito net of some kind would be useful should the management consider providing them. The low-flow toilet did not always flush correctly even when there was only water in the bowl and nothing else. In one of the two bungalows water was at most lukewarm in the shower. It was not a big problem as the weather was warm, but some may care about this kind of thing.
As many other people noted, the Dumaluan beach is about 5 to 10 minutes away on foot, depending on the speed of walking. The entry costs 25 pesos per person now. The beach is beautiful, much better than the more famous Alona beach, and you can see locals having a great time, especially on the weekend. Contrary to what some people have written, the two big resorts do not allow paying to use the facilities on a daily basis, at least not these days. On the other hand, the hotel restaurants are happy to have you come for meals.
If you like easy access to lots of shops and restaurants, Villa Formosa is probably not ideal, though there are some local options along the main road 10 minutes away on foot (in the opposite direction from the beach). But if you don't like being in the middle of a tourist hub and would prefer a nice beach nearby over convenience, Villa Formosa is a great choice.

This review is very late coz we visit the place last Aug 2015 but better late than never :-)
The place is really cozy and the service is the kind that you would wish for in every accommodation you go to, either high-end or low-end. I ask them for something special since it was my wife's birthday and I was surprise with the effort they put together. The room was decorated for the occasion and there was a surprise bday cake :-) Thank you po.
The room that was assigned to us was nice but I wanted to try one of those deluxe bungalow and they did put us there with no additional cost. Unfortunately the aircon broke down and it was already 3 in the afternoon and cannot be repaired so they allowed us to spend the night in our original room then transfer to the bungalow the following day.
It was a very relaxing stay, the food are good, the place is nice and the staffs are very very accommodating. I would definitely come back to this place, the only snobbish one is their dog, doesn't want to have his picture taken maybe needs to pay talent fee lol.
