Detailed Reviews
Family of three stayed at Cliffside Resort for 4 nights in August and thoroughly enjoyed it. Julia the owner and her staff are genuinely very welcoming and made our stay just that little bit more extra special. We had a few meals here and enjoyed all of the meals we had as well as a few drinks by the pool, food arrived quickly and with good service.
We stayed in Room 8 by the pool side and found the room to be very clean and have everything that we needed including a fridge good Air conditioner and a nice shower & toilet, there was also a smart TV in our room (don’t think all rooms have the smart TV) however ours did so a bit of night Time Netflix using our own login was useful. Our room had a double and a single bed both with nice clean fresh bedding and a good firm mattress that did not sag. Outside the room you have your own table chairs a place to dry towels, and an umbrella rack.
The resort is a bit off the main road via a bumpy road however it’s not a problem as we were either in a Tri cab or a van for a day out ( we took a van to chocolate hills and did some ATV bike adventure while there). If you want to go to Alona Beach a Tri cab at the time of writing was 200 pesos so the three of us could go down to Alona Beach in around 15 minutes, that said after a few days down at Alona Beach it was nice to just enjoy the peace and tranquility of Cliffside and chill out there for a few days. We enjoyed the pool and the view is just outstanding I could just sit and look at it all day, you can see Camiguin Island on a good day when the visibility is good.
There are some steps down the Cliffside so if you fancy some snorkeling you can do so at your own risk, we did and enjoyed it although be careful for sea urchins. While we were there we met some expats who are friends with the owner and we really enjoyed our time with them meeting new people is a great part of being on holiday.
If you’re looking for independent resort that has a nice tranquil relaxing atmosphere away from the big corporate resorts this place is perfect and we can’t wait to go again.

Small hotel literally off the beaten track and if you want peace and tranquility this is for you. Great views from the cliff, 72 steps down to the sea. Staff are really attentive and food is very good for such a small venue. Special mention to Mark,Cristal, Kat Kat and Dory. Had a spacious suite. Main beach 15 minutes away by tricycle.

I have been to Cliffside for meals a number of times now and on each occasion I am equally impressed. There is a good selection on the menu, with a decent variety of local and not so local fare. The view is superb particularly around dusk, especially if you are lucky enough to have any local fishing boats meandering past. The only minor downside is the road coming in from the main highway but a good effort was made to considerably improve this in early December

Don't trust the photos, this 'resort' is showing significant signs of neglect over recent years and now appears tired and rundown. Bare basic facilities, no atmosphere and a lack of customer service from staff. Found empty beer bottles in my room + the 'Free High Speed WIFI' hasn't worked for 2 years according to staff. Look elsewhere

Hello Richard and thank you very much for taking the time and leaving a review here. I am sorry you seem to be disappointed but please allow me to present my view: When you arrived you were disappointed that there was no welcome drink: we promote nowhere that there is a welcome drink. You also complained about the location: we clearly indicate where the resort is located especially that it is not on Alona beach. The resort is definitely not run down - we renovated everything in 2018/2019 - we are still tidying up/renovating after super typhoon Odette which hit us hard in December 2021. If there was some noise from the workers, I do apologise for the inconvenience. It is not true that there was no wifi in the last 2 years. Please be aware of the fact that all the staff are not native English speakers and misunderstandings can happen easily. All our lines and posts collapsed during Odette and we are still fixing it. Yes, there was no internet in all areas of the resort, but there was sufficient internet at the bar/restaurant area. The statement that there is no atmosphere is a very individual opinion and should not be published in a review. Regarding the bottles: I do apologise for that malheur. Actions have already been taken HR-wise. I am sorry this had to happen to you. Thank you again for your time to leave a review here. Your Cliffside Team

I didn't stay at Cliffside Resort, only ate lunch there upon recommendation. I had gotten to know the owner too who is really lovely, so decided to drop by. The place is idyllically located with a gorgeous high view of the sea. The staff are warm and welcoming. The menu was diverse, inviting and hard to choose from - I went for the Asian Pasta plate and I can honestly say it was the most scrumptious meal I had during my whole Filipino holiday. Would highly recommend checking out this place!

Was here on honeymoon with my wife in February 2020.
Clean and nice rooms, wonderful and tropic pool area.
They even made a decoration at our bed saying congratulations.
Food is good and at reasonable pricing. Staff is so friendly and nice.
Nice quiet area but still pretty close to Alona Beach. With a scooter or tricycle its 7 min. drive and easy to get there. We rented scooters at the hotel and they where fine.
The ocean can be reached by a ladder from the hotel. Swim 80-100 meter out and you have a really nice coral reef with a lot of fish. There is also some diving boats going there, so the spot is really nice.

Quiet place with nice view. Friendly staff. We were there for dinner on the Friday Steak Night. The sides were amazing (very nice salad with great topping). Unfortunately, the 250g Angus steaks that we ordered medium-rare were different sizes. The larger one was medium, the smaller one well done. Make sure to order your steak more bloody than usual.

I spent 5 nights at Cliffside Resort. All including weather was perfect. Motorbikes are included in the price. Getting to Alona Beach and village takes 3-5 minutes by motorbike.
There is an ATM in the village. It is 47 km to the famous Tarsier Conservation Area on Bohol Island. Getting there will take you 1 hour. 20 km further down the road and you will see the famous Chocolate Hills. Begin your trip no later than at noon if you want to see trasiers and Chocolate Hills and return before it gets dark. There is a hanging brigde just a few km before the tarsier park. Also worth walking.
There is very good food offered at Cliffside Resort. Bar open until very late. Laundry service, good and reliable wifi. All you need in one place. And the place is very quiet and clean. You wake up in the morning, open the door and there is a swimming pool right in front of you and the sea. In the night, travellers from the northern hemisphere will enjoy the view of the Southern Cross low over the sea. As in the Australian flag. Then you turn 180 degrees to see the Great Bear and the Polar Star low over the palm trees. Actually you don't need to drive to Alona Beach to buy anything except petrol. Travellers from the UK, Australia etc should remember: in the Philippines you drive on the RIGHT !
