We booked here at Bohol Sea resort for 3 days 2 nights. The staff are very accommodating with all our requests. The location is good because it's serene. There's 1 small resto and a pizza parlor nearby and ATM machine too. Bakery is just across the resort. Soda prices are reasonable than the resorts, but it's still best to buy your groceries in Tagbilaran (which by the way we chose to stay there one night).

Though the resort is beach front, you wont be able to swim as it is rocky. The place is a bit far from Alona beach. You have to take habal habal which will cost you 20 pesos each, one way. This is cheaper than taking the tricycle as they charge 100 for two one way, per the staff. The pool is clean, but be careful with the gigantic mosquitos. Make sure you put a repellent before sunbathing.

The room is clean but incomplete. They don't have a phone, to call the reception to order or ask for anything. It's quite a hassle as we were situated a bit far from the reception area. They don't have kettle or coffee cups available inside the room. Comfort room is clean, but there's no bidet, so we have to ask for a tabo (dipper) and pail (timba). AC is working and cold. They clean the room everyday and will replenish soap, shampoo, toothbrush and water. They have cabinet,tv, table and chairs (in and outside the room) and a mini ref.

I would recommend the resort for the best service, but location wise, if you are looking for a beachfront, this is not the resort for you. But if you want to be far from the noises in Alona, this is the best resort to book.👌

Lovely and very colorful hotel.
The room was clean and very comfortable - as it's all in bungalows, you feel a lot of freedom, if you don't feel too sociable.
They have a nice pool (though we didn't use it), and whilst it is set on the beachfront, it's not the nicest one, and whilst we were there you couldn't walk or swim there. If you're after pristine beach, you do need to go to Alona.
It's not too far from the main stretch of the beach and town, though not quite walkable (we had a bike)
If you don't mind the extra drive, and want nice, comfortable and peaceful hotel, this is certainly a great choice

Been stayed here for 1 night, and it was excellent, the place is peaceful and clean, the staffs are very good and responsive. Our standard room is very clean and comfortable also fresh. Just that time they use generator to supply electricity and water. Due to typhoon odette. But Overall we love to stay here and planning to come back again. We hope we can get promo rooms again 😊

The hotel was nice, staff nice, BUT do not get the motorbikes at the hotel. They offered to call some company and brought it. We returned them and left to the airport. Then once we were in the airport, the lady who we rented from got someone to get us, they said that “the bottom plastic of the bike was broken.” They charged us 5000 php!!!!!! They said they called the airline and that they wouldn’t let us board until we paid it. Who checks the bottom of the bike when u rent? I guess that’s a lesson learned. And 5k is out of this world. Extortion.

Very nice resort in walking distance from Alona Beach, close enough to walk or take a tricycle there, far enough to escape and have a relaxing holiday. We had a standard room, it has everything you need and was clean and modern. The (bigger) bungalows looked amazing. The food (fusion philippino-european) is delicious. Friendly staff.

We did not plan to stay that long and to be honest we were a bit disappointed by the ”beach” as we arrived. However we ended up staying 9 nights at the Bohol Sea Resort and it got better for every day.

Just to clear out the “beach” thing before we head over to the more positive parts. We hoped that there was a white beach that you could sunbathe from since the hotels is located just by the beach, but this is not the type of beach you really like to go swimming from – then you need to join some of the divers or head into Alona Beach. However the positive sides heavily outweighs this disadvantage. Let us tell you why.

1) THE STAFF
The resort has some of the friendliest staff you could ever imagine. We had some great chats about life on the Philippines and in general. Every time we needed something they were there to sort things out.

2) THE PREMISES
The resort is beautiful and you can easily spend a full day just hanging out by the pool, by the bar with a pool table or at the lounge just by the restaurant with great wifi. The beach is also a great place to go jogging, especially in the early evening when the sun is setting.

3) THINGS TO DO
This is a place just a 5 minute ride from the busy Alona beach so once you like to get some action you are there before you know it. However at the resort you can join the divers on their tours for some snorkeling. We set out to Balicasag Island and we both agreed that this was one of the most beautiful island we have ever seen. We saw an amazing amount of fish and also lots of turtles. If you get here you just have to visit that island. During three days we also rented one of the Resorts mopeds and set out into the center part of the island to see the chocolate hills.

4) THE FOOD
The food on the resort is delicious and the breakfast is of the better sort with plenty of options. The happy hour between 5 and 7 pm is a great way not only to get cheep bear and the cocktail of the day – this is also a great chance to meet other people who stay at the resort.

All in all – what was supposed to be just a few days stay became our “headquarter” for discovering Bohol. We could really recommend Bohol Sea Resort to people who are looking for a relaxing time in the Philippines with amazing nature just around the corner.

Bohol Sea Resort is away from the hustle and bustle of Alona Beach. This is a plus or minus depending on your needs. A tricycle ride for about 100 or 150 pesos will get you to the Alona Beach and business area in about 3 minutes, or you can walk it in about 20 - 25 minutes at a leisurely pace. The staff is polite, sweet, very humble and accommodating. Shout out to Sheila, a multi-tasker, who was always friendly, smiling and helpful. She arranged for our Chocolate Hills/Bohol tour and transport to Tagbilaran port on our departure.

The on site restaurant is convenient, staff at the restaurant are courteous and always pleasant. The menu Is limited, but prices are reasonable and if you don’t feel like taking the tricycle out to Alona, it fulfills its purpose. They have happy hour 5 - 7 pm. Their cucumber lemonade is yummy and refreshing - you are greeted with this on your arrival. Thank you, Catstevens, Bryan, and all of the other attendants at the restaurant for your kind service. Everyone always made us feel at home.

The pool and grounds are clean. Others have commented on the beach, but as I mentioned, it depends on your needs. On the positive side, the beach will never be crowded like Alona, as the only people patronizing the beach appear to be resort guests.

We used the dive resort on the premises and the dives did not disappoint. A determining factor to using the dive resort for our dives was that our trip to Alona Beach found the Sea Explorers of Alona Beach staff to be disinterested, bland, and not particularly friendly. On the other hand, Hans, on site at the Bohol Dive Resort was warm, honest, friendly, and very engaging.

We stayed in a cottage, which was roomy, charming, and clean. Wi fi is great if you need it. Air con functions fine and so does the tv if those are factors in your resort choosing process.

Great place to relax. Wish we could have stayed longer.

The resort is run by a german guy and the service is also really ... german.

Let me say the positive things first: The diving teacher HANSCHI is really excellent:

He is friendly, funny, and he can show you how to dive and also takes you to nice diving spots.
For him: 5 points plus!

The rest is so-so.

The small "beach" is covered with sea-grass and waste. Swimming is impossible, because the ground consists of sharp rocks. which all come out at low tide.

My room was quite small. Either you could use the aircon OR sleep. It was not a split aircon ist was one big machine in the wall, bloody loud.

No evening entertainment, bar wasn't opened yet, but charging full price for the room.

The resort is far away from the white beach where you can also fine some nightlife. But don't expect that you can walk there on the beach. You have to walk there half hour on a dusty road. If you want to use motorbike ("huble-huble") it's not much faster but due to the holes in the road really adventure.

If you just want diving-diving-diving it's ok, I wouldn't spend holidays with family there.

This is really a place for divers. Not a place if you're a snorkeler or if you just want to beach it. There are better options available. The location isn't great either. You need to taxi or motor scooter any where you want to go which costs. I would have left early, but I had prepaid.

Rooms:
Rooms are clean, but my cleaning staff generally came late in the afternoon. One day, by 6pm they hadn't arrived, so I had to go up to the front desk and see when they would show up. The only rooms with a beach view are apartments #1 & #2. They are two bedrooms each. #2 is on the second floor and the more advisable one. The other so-called seaview rooms only have sidewise views. Sheets weren't changed, just made up.
Good WiFi up until the Dive Shop closes and then the WiFi is shut down. No house phone in the room.

Beach:
The beach is small and at low tide, not very appealing. Lots of boats are moored there. I thought it would be better. Again, better to stay along Alona Beach.

Pool:
Pool was small and disappointing. Not as nice as the picture on the website. No towels readily available and just 4 lounge chairs. The jacuzzi was never on.

Staff:
The staff was a mixed bag. The dive guys were ok. Since I'm a snorkeler I was aloud to go out in the dive boats, but basically ignored after that. Room cleaning staff was not so good as I mentioned previously. Restaurant staff was slow. Also, when I asked to have a taxi for the following morning to go on a tour, it never arrived. I suspect it was never ordered. If wasn't for a friend staying at the Henan, I would have missed my tour. She had the Henan pick me up.

Food:
Food was good, but you have to order your dinner at least hour in advance. The menu is put up around 3 in there afternoon and you let them know what you want and what time you want to eat. Very inconvenient. Service stops at 8. The hotel is far away from anything, so going somewhere else to eat isn't realistic.

Bugs:
The mosquitos and sand flies are extremely bad. Nothing seems to prevent them from attacking.

Snorkeling:
Well, this was disappointing too. I mainly came to Bohol to snorkel Ballcasag Island and see the Whale Sharks in Oslob. I was led to believe that the resort offered trips to Oslob, but they didn't. I had to book an outside tour. The resort did offer a trip to Ballcasag Island, but it was geared more for divers. The boat stopped quite a ways from the beach and if you weren't a confident swimmer or snorkeler, then you wouldn't go in the water. Big disappointment.

If you're a diver, this might be the place for you. Otherwise, not so great.

We didn’t know any better & paid 600 pesos but if you walk to the entrance, you can hail a tricycle for 300 pesos to the resort. Don’t be afraid to offer a reasonable price but 300-350 is fair.
