After attending the Hunter Valley Culinary Association "Food Fight " event at the Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley, we enjoyed a great nights rest at the resort. The room was a good size, very clean, complete with a comfortable bed and well appointed bathroom (with the hottest strongest hotel shower I have ever experienced). The friendliness of the staff added to our enjoyment - they were happy, friendly and most helpful. The breakfast would just about be the world's best hotel breakfast we have enjoyed in any country- the range (so many choices), the quality of produce, the barista coffee station are all exceptional. We also enjoyed a couple of tasty cocktails in the Lovedale Bar + Grill. Special mention to some of the great staff members - Emma and Mallory at the front desk, Kade in the Bar, Kaz and Tracey at breakfast. We also felt the "Foodies Getaway" package we purchased was also good value. Congratulations to all at the Crowne Plaza for making our stay a very enjoyable one. The one minus of our visit was that the highly rated Redsalt Restaurant is not currently open every night of the week.…
Recently my husband and I booked a few days break at the Lovedale CrownPlaza Hotel and Resort. The accommodation was very good and the staff ever cheerful, helpful and obliging. However, with the exception of breakfast, the food was appalling. The Bistro and Grill at night was over crowded and with a noise level that made conversation impossible. It would be most unacceptable at any time but in a time of Covid, this place was surely a 'super spreader'. We retreated to our room and ordered Room Service. Our room did not have any spot suitable to eat at but the ever-helpful staff at least provided us with an extra chair so we could eat sitting down. My husband's pizza was served in its box with no eating utensils or table napkin/serviette. The food brought was expensive but inedible. Most of it was left uneaten On our last night the fine dining Red Salt was open. It offered a pretentious menu but the food, again, was unappetising , poorly cooked and very over priced. The very poor standard of food made our stay much less enjoyable than it should have been. We spent all of our first day looking for alternative restaurants/cafes to eat at. This to some extent spoiled what we had hoped would be a relaxing, comfortable break. I do not recommend the Crown Plaza Resort…
Brilliant base for a few days in the Hunter Valley! Great staff, great facilities, if I played golf I’d have been even happier - ha! Breakfast was great and the buffet style was plentiful!! The hotel bar had a nice vibe to it and the homegrown beers were great. Try the tasting paddle if you go!
Arrived to a fresh and open atmosphere, after a busy weekend for the hotel. Very relaxed and claim surrounding. The check in was great and easy. The room was great and close to the main entrance of the hotel. Easy to and from restaurants, gym and other facilities of the hotel. Clean and big room. The only comment is, the rooms are not serviced by the hotel attendants, during the day. Like bed making and a quick clean. Perhaps over a longer period of 2 nights, it may occur. A great stay and happy with the staff and atmosphere.
Last weekend I spent three nights here celebrating my dad’s 80th; with my kids aged 3 and 5. Overall, an amazing weekend! But I wanted to leave a detailed review, as I call on these myself before booking anything. PROS: - room size: we booked a 2 bedroom apartment and it was essentially two interconnecting one bedders. Absolutely HUGE !! Kids had so much space to run around, play hide and seek - and never get cabin fever! - I didn’t bring my baby monitor as my kids are pretty much old enough now in a hotel I didn’t think it necessary - BUT with the layout of this accom, I wish I’d brought it. - The kids activities are insane!!! The water park was definitely a hilight and draw card to come back. But don’t be fooled - the large swimming pool is not heated. The spa is heated to warm enough, though I think could and should be 5 degrees hotter. - The water park is tepid…it’s not inviting at first, but once you get in the spa it’s impossible not to go in there, and once you’re in it’s hard to get out !! I had hours of fun in there with my kids, and then when you get back in the warm spa it feels hotter!!! - The major attraction that I didn’t even know about was the sauna, next to the water park - but the perfect way to get kids out of the water park and dried off in the warmies! First time for my kids in a sauna too! CONS: - price…..it’s a very expensive option; and then to learn they don’t service your room unless you pay extra? I thought that was just rude! And they gave us one tube of body wash for three nights, we called house keeping to request more, but it never came. - The breakfast restaurant is far too small for the size of the accom. On our first day we arrived at 9.20 and had to wait 30 mins for a table. Hardly ideal with young kids who were starving. On day 2 we arrived at 8.30 and still had to wait 15 mins. Just seems really badly planned when you know the number of guests you can accommodate? Other comments: - we were in the east village. The distance from reception to our accom was quite far as the car drove. No one explained the proximity of the layout on check in, so we figured to get to breakfast, and / or the on site restaurants we had to drive back up there. Turns out there is a short cut around the back, just a few mins walk - but no one thought to explain this to us when checking in.…
I booked two King bed deluxe “spa” rooms. These have the potential to be great rooms but sadly let down by terrible management/decor/amenities. I went to have a bath in the spa and was horrified to realise there was no soap or products to use in bath like body wash, shampoo or conditioner. One had to get out of the bath or dangerously lean out of the bath standing to plunge a combined hand wash/face wash/ body wash concoction out of a canister that was locked down to the basin! Like I want to use hand wash on anywhere but my hands. The shampoo and conditioner were locked down in canisters on the other side of the bathroom. When I complained I was told this is their policy now to reduce plastic, as if it was to be commended. What a ridiculous excuse for not providing basic personalised personal hygiene products that are safely accessible during bathing. There was also no top sheet - just a doona. The room smelt like strong cleaning chemicals. It was cheap and low class and a very unwelcoming and droll experience. Definitely not worth the $1200 I spent on both rooms.…
Could not fault this resort. Not just a room we stayed in a full 3 bedroom townhouse. Our Villa was one of the furthest from the main building which made it nice and quiet and an easy walk up to use the facilities of the restaurants, bars, spa etc. Villa is huge, every bedroom has a big screen TV. There is a full bath in the main bathroom. Our view is of a cute lake with water fountain and assorted ducks. We are on a girls holiday but the facilities for kids looks amazing. On nights when we didn’t want to walk back the concierge drive us home in a buggy. We dined at Red Salt on our first night. Excellent food and service. The buffet brunch was amazing. The pub grill was lively with a deck overlooking the golf course and the kids entertainment area. Concierge helped us to get the wifi going and TV’s tuned on our first day. The Villa kitchen is well stocked with utensils, glasses and crockery. The main building has a nice gift shop and art gallery.…
So we just had dinner in the resturant and to say it was average would be a complement not only was my nachos burned as per photos my wife’s lettuce was on the verge of being rotten . It was a massive let down and took 40 minutes to arrive. To be honest this place is overrated and overpriced ..
Just had a lovely 2 night stay at the Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley. We are a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 kids aged 1 & 5) and stayed in a 1 bedroom villa. The villa was perfect for us as it had a separate bedroom with 2 double beds, a lounge room and kitchenette, plus the bathroom had a bath which was great for the kids. The villa was clean and lots of space for all of us. The highlights of the resort were the pool and waterpark and the buffet breakfast was amazing!! This resort is definitely a winner for families as they cater for kids so well, the kids even received a plush frog toy on arrival which I thought was lovely. The only downside, which isn't too bad if the weather is fine, is that the villas are a distance away from the resort and facilities. Maybe when booking ask for a villa close to the resort. Oh and don't forget to get up early at least once to watch the hot air balloons 👍 . Thanks crowne plaza for a lovely break ❤…
We booked this on points at the last minute as it was a busy weekend in the Hunter Valley. We were pleasantly surprised to be upgraded as platinum members from a base room to a 1-bed apartment, which is probably bigger than where we live. The check in staff were friendly and informative during checkin. The apartment was well located looking out onto the golf course, although given how busy it was, finding a parking space close to the room was often a challenge. Inside it was spacious, kitchenette and dishwasher were god send, it was comfortable, if a little dated. Would recommend
