Loved the first visit last year, and returned again this year! One of the most beautiful views and the villas are perfect (especially if travelling with others). Staff at the restaurant are super friendly, and despite a storm that blew down trees cutting power for a good part of the day, they still managed to serve a modified lunch menu.
Beautiful views. Comfortable room. Welcoming staff. Delicious food. These private cottages are little remote and 30 minutes or so from most activities, yet maybe 10-15 minutes to the town of Nuevo Arenal. It's a short walk to the lake where you can spend a couple of hours paddling in a kayak. We loved our stay and felt as if we were among old friends who greeted us warmly every day and did all they could to make our stay one of the most memorable. I cannot wait to return!
Our stay at La Mansion was breath-taking, in so many ways. The view was spectacular, the pool was gorgeous, the food incredible, and the staff were friendly, kind and super attentive. It is quite out of the way (45 min drive into town), but we’ll worth if. I would happily visit again, and really hope I get the chance to do so. An unforgettable stay in the lush and beautiful jungle.
I chose this hotel because it looked like a romantic place to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We were not disappointed! Our cabin was private, comfortable and decorated with colorful murals. We especially enjoyed sitting on our balcony with the amazing view of Lake Arenal. We also were visited by horses, Toucans and 4 huge curassows. The breakfast and dinners were consistently delicious and served beautifully by Louis and Christopher. They even surprised us on our Anniversary with a specially decorated table with flowers and candles and a super dessert. We spent a week at this lovely place and hated to leave. A special thanks to Cesar who found our wonderful driver, Cristian, and who went above and beyond making sure Wi-Fi was working and we were completely happy.
We have just spent a night at La Mansion at Lake Arenal and all I can say is "I can't wait to go back". We had a beautiful cabina with a view of the lake. It had a porch with rocking chairs and a table. The cabina was beatifully decorated and clean. The towels and linnens looked new. Their restaurant was amazing and we didn't have a bad meal between the four of us. The staff were extremely helpful and very pleasant. We couldn't have asked for anything better.
We stayed at the hotel under Air BnB. The host was the manager/owner of the hotel, Peggy. The room was not cleaned or prepared for our arrival. There was no Wifi as advertised. Many of the 'amenities' promised were not delivered. The propane was not hooked up and the towels and linens were not replaced after the last guests' stay. There was zero communication with the host and there was little effort was taken to correct any of the short comings.
The rooms were traditional and clean. Good choice of menu items for the breakfast and you also get a large fruit platter and coffee/juice also. The best thing about the hotel was the view of the lake which can be seen from each room.
This rustic hotel is set on a hill with a beautiful sunset view over the lake. The pool is a welcome refresher after a day exploring the area. The grounds are very quiet, peaceful and generally caters to small families and couples looking for a beautiful place to relax. Far enough from Fortuna to escape the crowds and but still only a 20min drive or so. About an hour to Rio Celeste over a fairly rough mountain road. We booked via Airbnb and got a great rate!
What a wonderful place! We stayed in the Royal Cottage which was such a cool villa with 3 bedrooms and a private pool. The view of the lake was stunning and overall the property is very beautiful. The cottage was extremely clean. It included a kitchen and the cleaning service even did our dishes. Breakfast was delicious consisting of multiple options. All of the staff are kind, patient and professional. Of course, if booking here please realize the hotel is very far from La Fortuna and the volcano park. At least 30 minutes drive. If you are taking shuttles, they will charge more to come to this hotel. One minor recommendation is for the hotel to provide better kitchen equipment and basic kitchen items.
Very clean, spacious, well appointed cottages on a stunning property; the pics don’t do it justice. All of the staff are truly excellent, so kind, patient and professional, the restaurant was perfect, we ate multiple meals there daily. We scheduled activities with Alan who was able to be our guide for some. He gave us incredible experiences (rainforest tours, horseback riding etc) making this a trip of a lifetime. I almost hate to broadcast what an amazing experience we had, as it provides a true getaway experience from the tourist hustle and bustle. I left feeling like I stayed with friends for a week, and homesick for this little piece of paradise.
