Power goes out regularly at night. The whole property is very steep. Lots of garbage piled in stacks along the car path. Desolate, remote location. Beach is only accessible for ‘members’ - the Italians stare at you, shamelessly gossip about you - and you miraculously fall off the ‘list’ (numerous times)- pool/beach attendant very rude - lousy customer services in general. Never felt so unwelcome - left early because we’d rather lose the money than stay another day.
Sicily, Northern Island coast, in front the wonderful archipelago eolie islands, there Is Villa Ridente, excellent in everything, beach, Restaurants, pizzeria, staff, animation and services. Nearest Tindari.
This trip was well needed. I am 19 so i enjoyed spending most of the day by the privet pool and beach but if your not in shape like my grandparents who were with me the stairs can be a deal breaker. Everyone was nice and did there best to communicate with me there english wasn't that great but they still helped in whatever way they could.
We liked all the animation: aquagym, fitness, zumba, spectakel in the arena... dancing... Marina at the reception is very friendly an helpfull! Anja (sport animation) is very enthousiast en friendly! Kind regards to all from room 411 from Belgium
We booked a week's holiday at this hotel through lastminute.com for 21 - 28 April. We arrived at the reception to find it locked, we knocked on the door and a man opened it - we explained we had a booking for a week's holiday and he said the hotel is closed because of an electric problem. Eventually he let us in and we spent an hour explaining our problem - his english wasn't very good. He made some phone calls and told us we could not stay in the hotel due to the electric problem (even though all the lights and computers were on in reception), and he would take us to another hotel. We spent the night in a lovely hotel nearby and went back to Villa Ridente the next morning to sort out our booking. We were met by three members of staff in workmens clothes, and the man from the night before. They told us we could not stay at the hotel because of the problem and they had 'broken' our booking with lastminute.com. They told us they would tell lastminute we had not arrived and we would get a refund!! We tried to explain we would not get a refund and what we were to do? All this took hours, (thank goodness for google translator) and we eventually gave up and rang lastminute, explaining the situation. Last minute actually phoned the hotel whilst we were there and i spoke to them because the staff members couldn't understand what they were saying - the staff would only speak to lastminute Italy who were closed until the next day! Unfortunately, lasminute.com were very little help, and we ended up staying at the lovely hotel where we spent the first night. This hotel was a complete waste of time, we must have spent one and a half days of our holiday trying to find answers - very frustrating and distressing! A waste of time and money, and a terrible start to a much needed holiday. We lost all the extras we had booked, ie, sauna, jacuzzi, pool, plus optional massages and wellness centre we had been so looking forward to. Villa Ridenta offered to transport us to and from our hotel to their private beach as compensation AFTER we had spoken to lastminute - little use as we had a beautiful private beach at the other hotel - and a meal on the last night of our holiday. Hardly recompense for our ruined holiday. It appeared as if they had just forgotten our booking and did not want to help or take any responsibility for the problem.…
