We LOVED staying at Dar Jnan Tiouira!! I recently visited last week and stayed for 2 nights and wish we had more time here! This hotel is truly amazing - definitely a boutique hotel with amazing decor, architecture, and family run which makes it even more special! Mostapha and his family are so kind, amazing hosts and AMAZING chefs - the food is all homemade by him and his family and honestly some of the best food we had while visiting Morocco. The free breakfast was honestly a feast and I am still dreaming of the omelet and fresh Msemen bread that I had there.. I was SO impressed! The rooms were super clean and the location is also incredible if you are looking to explore the Dades Gorge area - right in the heart of a small village so it feels like you are getting the true, authentic Morocco experience and doesn't feel touristy at all which we loved. Again, cannot recommend enough!!!!

This small hotel is an absolute gem! The proprietor, Moustaffa, built the traditionally inspired building himself with exacting attention to detail using locally sourced materials and craftsmanship.

The rooms are comfortable and water pressure is excellent. Notices in the rooms alert guests not to waste water or electricity. It was good to be reminded to be mindful of this.

There are many reasons to praise this fine small hotel, the cuisine was chief among them. Dinner consisted of 4 course meal with delicious local flavors artfully presented, and graciously served by the host family. Second helpings were offered, and choices of herbal teas to finish the evening. Breakfast was also beautifully presented with excellent coffee, pancakes, yogurt, fruit and local preserves.

When we continued past the town and were on the road to the hotel we asked ourselves why the agency had booked us in a place so far out of town. We understood the minute we sat down and we’re served the most delicious coconut cakes just out of the oven. Our host was meticulous, gracious and speaks several languages fluently. Our room was comfortable and exceedingly clean. The hot water in the shower was immediately available and there was tea, biscuits and a kettle available in the room if desired. We were served an amazing 4 course dinner freshly prepared by an excellent cook and an exquisite breakfast the following morning. It is a place to which I would definitely return and highly recommend. The 20 extra minutes to arrive are worth it. If you would like to enjoy wine or beer During your stay you will need to bring it with you, there is none available at the hotel and as mentioned is if quite far from the town.

Mostapha has built the most welcoming and unique riad! I loved all the unique touches that set the riad apart from others and truly showed the dedication to making guests feel at home. To top it off Mostapha and his sisters served some of the most delicious food I had during my entire stay in Morocco. It was absolutely phenomenal and so delicious. I highly recommend this riad as it feels like a home away from home.

Out of all the places we’ve stayed at during our 12 days trip in Morocco, Dar Jnan Tiouira was one of if not the best.

The kasbah itself is beautiful, really well decorated and tidy. The room we stayed in was big and comfortable, again with great taste in terms of decoration.

Mostafha and her sisters, who run the place as a family business, are truly welcoming. Right from the start they took care of us and brought tea and homemade pastry.

The dinner was even better, more than excellent. All the ingredients were fresh and organic, personally bought by Mostafha at the local market. The menu itself felt personalised, and we totally appreciated it. Each dish coming out of the kitchen was better than the one before.

To top it all, they offered us a relaxing herbal infusion, which we enjoyed while having a conversation with Mostafha.

They really wanted us to feel at home, and we sure did!

This was the first night in a 3-night tour from Marrakech to Merzouga, so I wish we'd had more time. This lovely inn was made with a lot of thought and care, as was the dinner that we enjoyed. Our room was very comfortable in a traditional way and we really enjoyed the setting along the creek with the blossoms around us in the valley. The rooftop offers beautiful views. This is a family-run business and one can feel the love. We would love to return.

I consider myself quite lucky as I’ve travelled a lot and stayed in many nice places… but this is maybe one of the best places I have ever had the chance to stay in. Even in Morocco, I’ve visited 5 star hotels in a couple of the cities, and this surpasses them all. The hotel building alone is incredibly gorgeous, many kinds of local architecture beautifully mixed together. The rooms were comfortable, spacious, and the decor was stellar.
The food was some of the best I’ve had in Morocco, we had dinner and breakfast there. The owner was personally serving everyone and explaining all the (delicious) dishes. The owner alone is a reason to visit this place. He is kind and friendly, and takes pride in the place he has (as he should). When we arrived (my brother my cousin and I) had a room with three single beds booked, but he gave us an an adjoint room with an extra bed so we could have more space. (And so I could have some space from my male relatives!). Even while we were waiting to leave, he stayed and talked with us for some time.
Overall an amazing stay. I wish I could have spent longer there!

Room Tip: The road down to the entry is a little small and steep, but not too concerning.

Everything in this house invites visitors to relax: the warm welcome, the cleanliness, the attention to detail, the comfort of the rooms, its location in the Dadés Valley. This house is managed by a family who puts all their heart into satisfy travelers. The homemade food is delicious and refined. A cuisine that is both modern, inventive and refined. It is one of the best houses visited. Only one regret: our stay was too short to be able to enjoy a hike on along the Dadés. A big thank you to Mustapha and his family.

We arrived at Dar Jnan, having no idea of what awaited us. As we entered Mustapha greeted us with open arms, invited us for tea and showed us around. Mustapha turned out to be an incredibly open minded and generous host. The room he gave us was well heated and had good bed linen. Our trip in Morocco was hardly organised, Mustapha gave us all of the information we were missing for the rest of the trip, At this point he had already earned the excellent review. Then, for dinner he treated us with an incredible dinner, every ingredient was thought of. I could go on and on writing good things about this place having been there one night. But the only thing I can recommend is that you there and see for yourself. Thank you Mustapha.

Quick review: A must-visit!

Staying here was such an experience I don't even know where to start.

The hotel is run by Mustapha and his family and it is actually a kasbah built by his family over many years. It is incredibly designed with amazing attention to detail and beyond beautiful. Every part of the hotel is a feast for the eyes. The rooms are very comfortable and well-equipped. There is a rooftop to gaze at the stars at night. Behind the hotel is the gardens/fields where you can walk and feel like you're in the Garden of Eden with different wheats, fruit & nut trees, rose bushes etc.

Mustapha's level of hospitality is unparalleled and he is a superbly gracious host. He is an integral part of the experience here. He also helped arrange us a full day walk in the desert/mountains with a guide which was really beautiful and special.

Finally, the food here is simply amazing. Forget about couscous and tagines, the dinners here are creative, beautiful and delicious... haute cuisine but done honestly and without pretense. The best dinners we had in Morocco were here!

My one suggestion would be to try to call them to make a reservation as booking.com doesn't always reflect the full availability they have (they're working on this).

Long story short - stay here if you can!!
