It is a beautiful Berber Kasbah expanded sensitively to give a traditional looking building around wonderful verdant courtyard gardens. We appreciated the local skill in workmanship and taste of the owners (who have traveled extensively in Africa) which have resulted in a gem of a hotel.
Our ground floor bedroom had everything one could wish for; a comfortable bed on a platform, a well designed bathroom with traditional tadelakt walls and bath, a very large seating area, ample cupboard space and even a sound system. Even from our ground floor position, there was a view across the Dades gorge to villages on the other side.
Initially there had been concern that we were not in the best location for views of the Dades gorge. But we felt we actually had the best of it; the views from the various roof terraces were breathtaking and commanded 360 degree panoramas. And, fascinating as Boumalne Dades was, we were glad to have the peace of an out-of-town location.
For those who want to get out and about, the Kasbah can arrange trips, walks, almost anything. But after we had toured markets in nearby Boumalne and eaten lunch at a street side restaurant, we were glad to return to the peace of La Perle.
In fact, the major problem was tearing ourselves away. We lounged peacefully in the sun by the swimming pool, but had we wanted the various gardens offered badminton, table tennis, darts, pétanque - and of course, swimming.
The cooking is a delicious fusion of Moroccan and French cuisine, breakfast served in the attractive indoor dining room and dinner on the terrace (with heaters against the “cold”).
It is very much worth noting that on the website all the staff are listed, bearing witness to a low turnover of personnel and a happy, efficient team. Having met Monsieur Eddy, the owner, we could see why; they take their tone from him and operate like family.
We met Monsieur Eddy’s young daughter who evidently has inherited his talent. Still at Primary School she speaks some English, French, Moroccan Arabic and Berber.
An amazing family and a true Pearl of a place to stay. We only wish we had been able to stay longer.
The hotel is large and the rooms are comfortable, spacious and clean with an ensuite and all the usual accessories although I cannot confirm whether there was or wasn't any air con (it wasn't required during this trip). My own room was in a 'tower' like building with two levels and was uniquely set up - I loved it! There is a large pool, bar, and indoor & outdoor dining facilities, games and activities and limited parking. The food was all table service and of a varied and good quality.
One negative point was in relation to external noises during the night which disturbed my sleep a little, this was solved by earplugs and I still had a good nights sleep in a comfortable bed (I must acknowledge that there is nothing that the hotel can do about the noises).
All-in-all a really enjoyable stay and a recommended hotel.

Beautiful building design, especially the ceiling of the dining hall and facade. When the place was opened, I am sure this place was very charming.
But now after 10+ years, interior decor is tired, perhaps, French taste, and lacks tension and care. ( empty CD cases left in the guest room).
We were looking forward to having a proper hot shower in freezing December month. But hot water ran out after one person took a shower.
No wifi in the guest room.
There were two AC in the room. But unlike other luxury places, the staff only turn both of them on after we arrived. So the first few hours after arrival, we were in the bed to keep ourselves warm.
The dinner is so so. Not so fresh, probably frozen pastries, chicken and green beans. The breakfast is self-service, with modest choice and no fresh cut fruit or vegetables.
The driver told us he was frozen in his room. He had no heating source.
All of these experience is bearable, but the staff talking to us about how "tiring" other guests were is absolutely unacceptable.
I had an incredible hammam with Zahra. It felt completely authentic, unlike most Marrakech hammams. She diligently scrubbed and polished me until my skin was as smooth as a baby’s!
The staff went above and beyond to help out - they did laundry for us and adjusted meal times for the kids. They didn’t go into the room to make beds etc during our stay but probably would have done if I had asked them to. The room smelled slightly musty but was nice and spacious. There was a much needed heater in the room.
Our room had a bathtub, which was one of the only places we stayed in Morocco where the kids could take a bath rather than a shower!
The staff is super nice, smiling and always caring for guests. The welcome is warm and you feel at home. It’s a real favorite for everyone you meet in this little corner of paradise that is La Perle. It is with sadness that I leave this place and all these wonderful people but with a real desire to come back. Looking forward to coming back soon.
If you want to be away in a beautiful and warm setting then La Perle is the ideal place go there with your eyes closed you will be charmed for sure!
Thank you to the whole team for these wonderful moments of sharing.
Staff very kind, lovely and big rooms. Very nice outdoor area including swimming pool and games (such as table tennis). The food was also very good (we had breakfast and dinner included, with some available options to choose from).
