Only stayed one cold night in January. I can not fault this hotel. After staying in several main stay hotels over Xmas period it was great to get traditional caring service. Staff and food first class. Room very warm considering it’s a very old building. Unusual to stay in such an old hotel with so much character in a great location. Well done to all at The George for making my stay very enjoyable

Not going to lie, we went here because we wanted a day away from the city and because we thought it might be haunted. Turns out it's just a really cool old building with a great restaurant for dinner and breakfast, a lovely beer garden, as well as old charming guest rooms. I only took away one bubble because while the rooms were clean, there were spiders and spider webs which could've been taken care of, but let's write it off to the charm of an old tudor building.

Lovely room with a 4 poster bed and amazing old beams and boards… spotlessly clean (there isn’t a shower in the bathroom we had but it didn’t worry us) Breakfast and dinner were excellent and the front of house team were delightful. Special mention to Alice. Will definitely return.

An absolutely wonderful stay. We stayed in the Samuel Pepys room which has a four poster bed and the most incredible old features. Everything you needed was there and everything was spotless. The chrismtas decor was traditional and beautiful too. For our evening meal we had an incredible festive pie, and lovely bottle of Riesling. Staff were helpful and friendly, and the whole atmosphere was faultless. Worth every penny for this experience. Thank you, the George!
