We stayed here for 3 nights in a very spacious Japanese style room with a private hot tub outside. The booking included breakfast and a kaiseki style dinner that was served in our room. If you are looking for a very nice and private retreat to relax from a stressful time... this

This is a modern hotel which provides some traditional rooms with the tatami mats and futons (made up after dinner and removed while we were at breakfast!). The evening meal was amazing. I cannot tell you the names of all the fish, seafood and dishes that we ate, but the meal

We were able to stay for three nights while on honeymoon last month. The food that Shogetsutei served was some of the best that we had over our two week trip. The first two nights it was served in our room, which was a new experience, by a very patient server. The last night we

Onsen is very modern and contemporary which we liked. However the Kaiseki dinner meals were below expectation. Food quality was alright but nothing to shout about and servings were very modest. Breakfast was a real disappointment! The breakfast spread was unappealing and the

Hi, I am wondering if you allow tattoos? Thanks!
For guests with tattoo(s) that cause discomfort to other guests we may ask that you please refrain from using the common guest-use onsen of our ryokan. Nishimuraya Shogetsutei has a private onsen spa which can be used (separate charge, subject to availability) by guests of Nishimuraya Shogetsutei or Nishimuraya Honkan. There are no restrictions about tattoos for this private onsen spa. To our knowledge, the public onsen in Kinosaki generally do not refuse guests with tattoos.

"Do take a renovated room, preferably with a forrest view."
"Room with bath on balcony is a good choice. Ask for non-smoking as the smoked rooms have a putrid stench."
"Ask for a western room for western style beds"
"We recommend the ryokan rooms with the tub and bathing (a rotenburo) in a small private garden attached to your room. It is worth the price."
"Ask your questions before your trip on the Hotel Website Live Chat Room."
