My sister and I stayed here for a couple of nights this was after Typhoon Tisoy. So they didn't have wifi or cable TV as advertised (which was all good). Power supply was still not stable.

The resort was nice, it had the view of the sea (which was not suitable for swimming) but they had a pool to compensate which was crowded in the early morning and in the late afternoon. Our room was spacious enough and clean. It had the garden view, overlooking the pool and the bar. The place was peaceful and quiet. The toilet and bath was neat enough, water pressure was okay. The AC was working fine but a bit noisy.

The food and drinks at the restaurant was expensive. Breakfast menu ranged from 90-250 Php (90 for plain pancakes) and was still without any coffee/juice/tea. If you want to have coffee/juice/tea you have to pay around 40-60 Php. If you want to save on food, you may opt to buy or eat outside the resort (i.e., ride a trike for 20 Php one way fare to the town proper).

The staff were helpful and friendly. But have to practice being more attentive to resort guests needs. They were dogs which bothered some guests during meal time. Management should keep them away for the safety guests.

Lastly, they had a nice view of the sunset.

We recently stayed 4 nights. The gardens are lovely , well kept and the pool is clean. the staff are on hand and really nice and helpful. Going the extra mile to help with arranging SIM cards, taxis etc.
The restaurant is okay, the food basic but they do do a lovely curry but the portions are small.
The rooms are very very very tired. Cracked leaking toilets , sinks which also leaked and sheets which had holes in them. Air con is so loud you can’t leave it on and sleep.
The problem is the staff made our stay enjoyable , assisting with the leaks and were so nice that it’s hard to give a lower score.

The owners need to do some serious investment into the rooms instead of just charging high prices due to its location to the Whale Sharks.

Wonderful Resort close to Dive center with very helpful and friendly staff.

Restaurant has a good selection of food ranging from Asian cuisine to western cuisine.

Rooms are spacious and clean however bathrooms could be updated. The shower is hot and has good water pressure .

Room comes with air-conditioner which works great and a pedestal fan.

Travelers to the area beware and bring lots of cash as town has limited ATMs which aren't always working and everything requires cash no use of card.

So far we haven't seen any whale sharks but the pool area has made up for it as it is a great place to relax and catch some sun.

Good reception by the staff and the location is quite quiet and have direct access to the beach with a beautiful pool.

There is a restaurant with excellent service.

The room itself would deserve a refresh as it seems a little old but depending on the reference of all the customers.

All activities can be managed with the very kindness of the hotel staff!

We arrived a day early but they were very friendly and accommodating. We stayed 3 nights, predominantly as we wanted a little R&R in between travelling plus of course there’s the whale shark centre next door to the resort. We only dined in the restaurant for breakfast, which was ok. We tended to dine out each evening at BARcuda where they serve fresh and very delicious fish and seafood, definitely worth a visit. That said, we spoke to other guests who dined in and they enjoyed it. The hotel was good, but a little dated and tired in places but perfectly clean, tidy etc. you do have to request room servicing but for a short stay we didn’t bother. The staff were all super friendly, helpful and smiley. A great spot for 2-3 days but I’d struggle to be in Donsol for longer, although it does depend on how lucky you are when you go out on the whale watching trip (we were lucky that they were sighted on the day of our trip) and we were fortunate to see and swim with them.

Convenient location next to Whale-shark snorkeling center and the meeting point for diving around Manta Bowl & San Miguel area. Good hospitality service and food is tasty. However, bed & bedsheet are pretty much outdated. I think the building near swimming pool may be better.

Based on the cost of the rooms are we couldn't fault the place. Yes, it's a bit basic and the rooms weren't made up in the few days we were there but you know what? It was quite refreshing not having the intrusion of housekeeping entering and making your own bed isn't exactly a hardship. Besides, the room was like a beach hut so it was all very casual. If you want 5 star service and facilities, go to Boracay and pay big money.

In terms of location, The Vitton is right next to the beach where the boats depart for the Whale Shark watching and dives and the whole place was relatively peaceful and quiet.

There are a couple of bars and restaurants and a swimming pool which are all perfectly adequate and the staff were very friendly.

The litter on the beach was disappointing (but I've seen worse in other locations) but a common enough problem in the Philippines which really needs to be resolved. If they can deal with it in Palawan and Boracay then why not the rest of the country?

We will write about the Woodland resort.
We stayed there six nights to experience of course the "Whale Sharks".

First of all, we like to mention that the beach at Donsol is beautiful. Yes, there can be some trash occasionally, but you have that all over South-East-Asia: and it is a shame and very sad (however, this is a big scale problem). In the time we had there, we saw very little garbage! The sand is of an incredible enchanting dark color. Same, same - but different :-) when you think of all those white sandy beaches in the world (and on postcards).

What we liked most: even though Donsol is the tourist magnet / hot spot of the region, it can be very lonely on the beach. This is also due to the location of the Woodland.

Woodland is in five to ten minutes walking distance to the "Butanding Vistor Centre".
Far enough to get rest and peace. Close enough to take a nice walk in the early morning hours. And there is always a "Tricycle" in front of the resort.

There, in front of the resort is also a little booth were you can buy snacks and drinks from a local family. They are up for a nice chat if you like and there kids like to practice their english skills.

We stayed in a room on the upper floor of the main building, over looking the nice garden towards the sea. The room was immensely big, as was the window. Sure one might find some things to disagree upon - but always keep in mind what you pay for a room in the Philippines.

The included breakfast was nice. You can choose from various dishes and they are pretty flexible when it comes to personal wishes. Veggies will however have a hard time getting some variety - but we had the feeling this is a general issue in this country.

The lady who runs the restaurant is lovely and cute. The service (by here staff) could be certainly more of western standard when it comes to punctuality and the ability to understand your wishes, but who wants that if you are there?

The girl who manned the reception was delightful. She didn't speak to much, but she took very good care. We always had a clean room, fresh towels and she could answer most of our questions.

See you somewhere in this world

I never stay in any resort can be more dirty than the Vitton Beach Resort.
The dust, spider web all over the place on the ceiling just right on top of your bed, ceiling light and also on the wall everywhere inside the shower. And, ants everywhere inside and outside the room. We saw this once we open the room door.

Ever thought, they show us some other room which they claims that they just clean it. But, unfortunately the dust and spider web is also all over the place.

The breakfast experience is also as terrible as the room. The waitess delivered 70% wrong dished and drink to us and the other table. The quality of food in that tiny breakfast place is really bad.

The staff is really dis-organized. Anyway, anything can go wrong there.

I saw some review from March last year for this resort, the customer also had a really bad experience there. Now, almost 1 year laster I also experience the similar bad experience. It doesn't seems like this resort care about their customer so much.

Besides, the bar play very loud music even thought there are only 1 or 2 guest there, and they located just right next to the room, which create a lot of noisy for the guest who want to sleep and relax. And, the poor quality air-condition also very noisy.

Furthermore, they name themself as a beach resort. In fact, they beach is really dirty and tidy, which is mainly for docking the boat. No one wants to swim and sun bathing there.

I bet you won't want to spend time in such a terriable place to ruin your holiday.

Vitton Resort and Woodland resort are two different resorts. We stayed at Vitton resort:

Nice resort with great staff. There's a swimmingpool with a view on the bay.
Convenient location because the visitor centre for the whaleshark interaction is right next door.

We had a single deluxe room with a small balcony from which you can see the beautiful sunset. Ask for a room on the 1th floor, for the view.
Room is basic and dated, but has everything you need.

The resort has a bar and restaurant. Food is good, but nothing special.
Better go to Baracuda restaurant next door.

Hi Gary, there is no easy and cheap way unfortunately. There are two options: 1. Charter a van for PHP1500 (or negotiate - we got a normal car for PHP1300), it takes 60-90 minutes. I advise trying to find people to share with when you arrive (that's what I did) as the second option takes a lot longer. 2. Get a tricycle/taxi to the terminal in Legazpi. Then I think there are jeepneys or minibuses to Donsol town but you have to wait till they are full before they will leave. Finally a tricycle from Donsol town to Vitton/Woodlands. Hope this helps! Enjoy!
