The place looked classy, our room looked great, security was visible in many places and staff was accomodating.

You need to arrive abour 11 to 11:30am to avoid waiting for a long check in process. We had to wait wait 30 minutes to be given a room.
The bidet in the toilet was too strong that it hurt your skin. We tried to close it but the lever did not work.
The toilet also smelled bad when we arrived until we left.
Our room was far from the beach but we appreciated the exercise.
It took us 20 to 30 minutes to be seated during breakfast. There was a long waiting line during breakfast which irritated many guests. Management should have at least prioritized seating for senior citizens. When we got seated at breakfast, we shared a ten seater table with another couple, which was okay, if privacy is not an issue for you.
We had to eat at the nearest fast food during dinner which was about 15 minutes ride away due to pricey menu in Canyon and long cooking time. (We waited for more than an hour during our past visit for our food. Restaurant cooking and service was slow.)
Check out took less time because we checked out early.

We stayed at Canyon Cove from December 30, 2019 to January 1, 2020 to spend New Year.

We were given room 504. The room was big for a couple. It was relaxing to stay in that room except that there are a few things that management should attend to. The sliding glass door to the balcony was jammed. The bathtub is already rusting. The bidet holder needs replacement. The television set needs replacement too.

All of the above were compensated by their hardworking, friendly Ang helpful staff. They have a nice and clean pool. The beach was also clean. It was fun just sitting in the Cabana.

Breakfast was superb. I love their Champorado, Corned Beef, Pancakes and Tinapang Galunggong.

Lunch or Dinner was P 550/person (less 20% for senior citizens) but food was not to my liking.

We had our New Year's Eve dinner at the penthouse. It was P 1000/person ( less senior citizen discount). They served Spaghetti, Salmon, Pork Knuckles, Pork Wellington and a few others which I don't eat.

They have this Gala Dinner at P 1750/person which we didn't join. They have this live band and fire dance. They also have fireworks at exactly 12 am. We just went down from our room at about 11:55 PM just to watch the fireworks.

Overall, Canyon Cove, although showing its age, is still a place to stay and enjoy the sea breeze.

Booked a group room under a promo for 4 pax. Requested for double beds and received email confirmation request was noted—but in actual not executed.

Upon arrival to room, only 1 king bed and a cushion/“day bed” about 5 feet (too short for an adult). Called front desk who advised apparently only subject to availability (not previously mentioned). Supposed to fit 4 pax in a king. Or have maybe 1 dangle legs out in a short bed. Front desk was not accommodating upon check in and we were too tired to argue at this point.

We had a group with us who had checked in but had not requested for a double and so it should have been possible to have a double bed room available if the hotel had arranged properly.

The day bed had a number of insects on it (only one pictured after we killed). Some were accidentally squeezed onto the bedding we were to sleep on.

We had to ask for additional pillows and blankets and hotel supplies like water and tooth brush for the 2 pax who were with us (booking was for 4 pax so we shouldn’t have had to ask, especially having taken the extra step to email them).

The room is basic, no WiFi, bad tv reception. If you just need a basic place to stay and don’t mind insects or are not particular about hospitality or arrangements, it should do. If after a more relaxing stay, you may want to consider other resorts in the area like pico de loro or Hamilo.

I have been visiting the Philippines for over 15 years and this is the worst I've ever seen. View Suite with no view, no towels in room (4 hours and 4 visits to the front desk to get 3 towels that looked like they were throw aways from another hotel). Dirty glasses and cups put back to use. Dirty underwear left by previous guest. 4 hours to get a remote for the TV. Suite has a kitchenette, but you are not allowed to bring in outside food and your bags will be searched by security. I could write a book about what is wrong with this place. Over priced everything and the staff have perfected the art of avoiding eye contact so they don't have to do anything, three people holding their hands up for 5 minutes to get attention of wait staff. php550 buffet dinner only includes water, pasta, no dessert (unless you think a slice of watermelon is dessert). php500 breakfast with one egg choice, no potato, no ham or bacon, and one coffee served in a styro cup. Charged for four people in second room, but only give two free breakfasts.
Pool and beach are nice, but not even close worth to what they charge for a room. I've stayed in php750 a night beachfront cabins that were cleaner and the staff at least acted like they were happy you were staying with them. Problems like this can only be fixed by starting at the top, a complete change of management that can motivate or replace the staff. If I was offered a free stay at this establishment I would not accept it, I will never stay anywhere associated with Canyon Cove hotel and spa and you couldn't pay me to recommend it to another living sole.

The pool area was just lovely and the pool itself was great. The inflatable water park was tough but well worth giving a go! The lifeguards are very pleasant and helpful out there. A few of the slides and things could be fixed but overall had a blast! The cleaning staff were so helpful and lovely, however that’s all I have nice to say. The resort is in the middle of nowhere and the service was terrible everything was done at snails pace and it seemed to be an inconvenience to most staff members to answer questions or take orders. We were an Irish family with a lot of young kids and the food was non existent the buffet lay out they had in the restaurant was a disgrace. Food was freezing even though was in a ban Marie the selection of food was terrible there was no international cuisine available. There was photos and posters of fries and pizzas everywhere and anytime we asked staff about them they said no problem but when we got to order there said they had no dough or potatoes. All myself and my boyfriend lived on was a bit of French toast and fruit (which was ok at best). The rooms are extremely outdated and in need of renovation and revamp there were mirrors hanging off walls , masking tape on the iron exposed wires on the hair dryer , our shower was freezing on day one and two. The hotel policy is to renew ur stay and register your room card everyday at 12 to allow you back into your room even though we were booked for 4 nights. There is no WiFi in the rooms and the only WiFi available would never connect in the lobby. The restaurants outside were disgusting with flies all over the place. The New Years gala which was not compulsory was 30€ per person we did not attend and went down town on a scooter but all the restaurants were closed early and on our way back we were only informed after asking for the manager that there was an extra buffet upstairs for separate guests however it was as though the food was leftover from lunch it was freezing and all exposed to any flies and bacteria and they were expecting us to pay 25€ per head for anyone over 7 years old.
The hotel also have a policy for no outside food and we asked one night could we order take in for the children as there was no food for them and they basically said no! The little tuc shop in the hotel was overpriced and they were charging over 4 times the price of a bottle of water in the shop. No entertainment at night time for kids and the fire show was nearly every night and we weren’t even allowed to watch from the pool deck. The bar was empty every night but they blasting the air conditioning so we always froze to death. I asked at reception about a spa option and I wanted to book but I was told to ring the spa and it was fully booked. I would certainly not recommend this resort.

This resort is a very scenic and quite resort. I have takeny family here twice and it amazes me every time. The location is very private and away from friendly locals. It is gated with quards at the entrance. The lobby is clean and the staff is friendly. Upon my arrival we were told that my reserved unit will not be available and I would like they will give me another room. We'll that's where it all ended. Not only they gave us a different room...they provided an executive suite fit for min 6 to 12 persons. It was huge! It has kitchen a spacious living room with an ocean view and bedroom with 1 king bed. It has total of 4 full size sofas and a dining table that seats 8 people. Wifi is only available in the lobby and the free breakfast is fantastic. It boasts a "xhaporado with tuyo fish" a ftypical filipino dish. There are plenty of choices from local cuisine to continental breakfast. There is a good size kiddie pool and a separate adult pool. You may also venture into the knee deep ocean. There are also other watersport activities such as jetskies and banana boat rides. Overall this place is worth it and the price at agoda.com is very reasonable. I would like to come back to Canyon Cove because it has all the resort amenities with friendly staff good food at a reasonable price unlike the other resorts down the road such as Pico de Loro where the poo and the beach is separate from the reservation price..caveat emptor! 🤣

Where to start, 1st the positives I guess. Pool area was excellent, well maintained and very pretty area.. beach was very nice, water park activities excellent, The room cleaning staff were very nice and friendly, and helpful too..
Cons:
I’d give the food 0/5, just awful, breakfast and dinner were buffet, but the food was freezing and left in the open for hours.. struggled to eat anything except bread and fruit for 4days, which was not helped by the fact that the hotel would not allow any outside food Or drink to be brought in..this was extremely problematic for our group as we had children with us.. there was pizza and fries advertised in the restaurant but every time we asked we were told they weren’t available.. there were bar snacks advertised but when we asked to order the staff made up different excuses to not allow us to order.. also water in the shop was extremely overpriced, almost 4 times the price of the nearest supermarket..

Rooms were outdated, shower was cold 1st 2 nights, iron was held together with masking tape, wires exposed on hairdryer, empty bottle of brandy found under bed, and a pair of sandals in the wardrobe..

Location is awful, almost a 3 hour drive from Manila, 10min drive on a taxi scooter to local town, which has nothing but a couple of fast food chains and a supermarket..

Also the price was extremely expensive, we managed to stay 8 nights in Bali for less than the 4 nights we stayed in canyon cove..

can safely say I would never go back, Really spoiled the 1st week of our holiday. Left us with a really bad experience of the Philippines and cost us a lot of money.

If I can give a zero rating, I will! The hotel was so dirty. The glasses on top of the bathroom sink counter were so dirty. The mirror in the bathroom had many marks from water splashed. The shower head was so dirty. The toilet drain was not covered. I was so afraid sit on the toilet. The bed sheets had several holes. The person who came to clean the toilet used her bare hands to clean the bathroom mirror to remove the water marks. She used the same rug in cleaning the bathroom, toilet seat, etc. I will never stay in this hotel again.

We stayed in one of the apartments of Canyon Cove. The view, as a whole, is spectacular no question about it. There are just several things I’d like to point out: Pool and beach cannot be used after 6pm, no food allowed in the beach area (we were actually approached for the chips we brought). I’ve been to several beach resorts here and abroad, nothing like this- bizarre! This cove/hill was chopped to accomodate so much buildings (several unfinished ). There’s not even a decent walking trail, all cemented or parking spots- what a shame! The apartment we stayed is run- down (unit 207). Kitchen supplies, towels and linens were old and mismatched, A/C units dripping and microwave not functional. I mean for the price we paid for 2BR of P15K/day, I think they should either lower the rent or upgrade their supplies.

I don't even know where to start with this place, I don't know how they got their 4 star hotel rating. For the price they are charging, one would expect a decent if not one of the nicest hotel. It is overrated and overpriced. Check in is at 2PM, we got there at 1.50 and waited over an hour to get our rooms. Wifi is only available in the reception area but the signal is laughable for a 4 star hotel. We went to catch the lift to our room and the lifts stinks of musty smell, like moulds. We got to our floor and got welcomed by so many wet floor signs all over the place that we had to dodge the whole time we stayed there, if only they put the effort in actually cleaning the floor than just leaving the water pooling on the floor for the guests to avoid, it's an accident waiting to happen.

We got to our rooms, it's complete opposite of what I was expecting. Paints peeling, light globes flickering; weak, leaky and noisy aircon. Then we found out water is pooling on half the bathroom floor, they can't do anything, no other rooms available so we had to step on wet bath mats everytime we have to use the bathroom. TV reception is very poor, cups and glasses were not washed properly.

Their swimming pool is massive, but not maintained properly, you can't even see the steps through the water as it is so murky, and if you look closely on the edge of pool, there is algae patches everywhere. Missing and broken tiles are not fixed, my son cut his toe on one of the broken tiles. There are plenty of rubbish on the beach and on the water, I understand most of these is from the ocean coming in but you'd think they have a staff to deal with these to make the guest's experience more enjoyable.

As someone has mentioned, outside food and alcohol are not permitted to he brought in but wow, they charge like a wounded bull. I paid P185 for a can of San Mig Light +10% service charge, just not worth it.

All in all, I was displeased with our stay here. I will never return and will never recommend this place. I have stayed in nicer hotels with better facilities that are way cheaper than Canyon Cove. I'll be embarrassed if I was a part of management of this hotel. Maybe it was nice when new but now it's definitely run down and need a lot of upgrade to attract more guests. Words of wisdom: STAY AWAY!

Don’t expect anything super fabulous at this hotel To say we were disappointed is an understatement. If you are a westerner you will be disappointed the hotel caters for Filipino customers with no thought whatsoever for the foreign customers. Example at the time of our stay no variety of food served during the day not even coffee. No is allowed to be brought into the hotel. The outside pool bar shut down with lights out around 8pm no bars open inside. I can’t recommend the hotel.
