The hotel is on the edges of Strobl
As we were cycling it was an easy ride into the town. The hotel itself has good facilities with a spa, lovely gardens and pleasant areas for sitting.
The family has run it for some time and has not forgotten how to please their guests. We had a warm welcome. The bedrooms were spacious. We had a sitting area and balcony. Decorative taste is a subjective matter. The star of the hotel is undoubtedly the food. Breakfast is a great display catering for most tastes. The evening meal delicious. Much care and imagination goes into it. We would return just on this alone.
Stayed one week on half board as part of a UK tour operator walking and cycling holiday ‘package’.
What a charming place to stay; very well located (just off main Salzburg-Bad Ischl road) 15 min walk from centre of Strobl town on shores of beautiful Lake Wolfgang.
Three generations of the family work here and look after guests incredibly well.
There are attractive gardens, a terrace, a small but comfortable spa and indoor pool.
But the star is the food and service in the dining room: buffet breakfast is full and excellent and then a 5-course menu is served each night - and is out-of-this-world good, created by father Paul and very talented son, assisted by daughter Victoria. Reception, bar and finance managed by Mum, Bettina, and all are assisted by grandmother (who built the hotel with her husband 37 years ago!).
Loads more to say about this hotel so if anyone needs to ask a question I shall be happy to answer but I would definitely return one day, if I can.
We have just got back from a really enjoyable Headwater holiday called the 'Austrian Lakes'. We stayed for a week at the Hotel Bergrose in Strobl. The hotel was excellent. A family run business where we made to very welcome. The room was really nice with a great view. The restaurant at the hotel was top class. The food served up by Chef Paul was both varied and of an extremely high standard. Can't recommend this place highly enough. Great area for walking and cycling.
My Son and I (aged 17) stayed at the Bergrose for a week in August on Half Board as part of an activities holiday and a break away from our normal beach holiday. As many other reviewers have said, the hotel is picture postcard perfect, but the real joy is the three generations of family who own and manage the hotel. Our room was a suite, with lots of space for myself and a tall teenager - and beautiful views from the balcony. The food is delicious and of an extremely high quality. Lots of locals regularly ate in the Restaurant - which is always a good sign!! (The Chefs are also family - so enormous pride in their food). The food is all locally sourced, and lots home grown by the family. Fresh fish from the lakes was a regular on the menu. Freshly baked different variety of breads every single day. (Showing recipes next to various dishes). We had a five course meal every evening which was amazing. The hotel is a perfect base for walking and cycling as well as visits to beautiful picturesque towns and villages - and of course the odd mountain. We used our bikes to ride everywhere, stopping off for swims in the lakes and rivers. The buses are every half hour - just at the end of the Road, so you don't have to be a fitness fanatic to get around. There is a lovely SPA and swimming pool which is wonderful at the end of the day for some R&R. We would thoroughly recommend the Bergrose Hotel.
A perfect base to explore Lake Wolfgang and the surrounding area. Just a 15 minute walk to Strobl which has all you need from bike hire to water skiing and a ferry service to all the other towns around the lake. This family hotel run by 3 generations offers a warm welcome, great comfort and high standards of service. Third generation Viktoria yearns to come to London, well i'd swap any day! Though I doubt i'd be as good in the dining room where the food is of a standard rarely experienced in any hotel. Add in a first class pool, spa and a riverside garden and you have the whole package. A real gem.
