Visited this place recently with my father in order to escape the heatwave of Athens. The name country club sounds accurate. Its big lounge is cosy with a collection of nice sofas. Like being in an enormous living room. The bar is next to the lounge and carries on the same cosy, nice atmosphere theme.

Even though the village Mikro Horio is not that high (750-800m) in the evening it was beautifully cool and the quilt cover was needed. There were no mosquitoes either even though lower down in the village there is a valley with water stream.

Dense forests are all around (not that typical in Greece unfortunately with the forest fires), stunning mountain peak views and cosy furniture. Breakfast is plentiful and small number of staff are very helpful and discreet. They could offer less food during breakfast but perhaps add things that could make a difference such as fresh orange juice or wholemeal bread? In any case breakfast was very good.

I was at this place in 2008, during the night of the US elections and in the autumn is just as nice and I'd say the place felt even more in its element (autumn or winter).

The hotel is located on Mikro Horio village on top of the hill. It offers nice view of the mountains around. It has very nice exterior and interior, too. Its furniture is antique classical. Very nice lobby. The stuff is friendly. The breakfast was very rich for either salted or sweet option. During our stay the rooms was always warm and hot water always available. The only negative point was the poor wifi signal inside our room. Ground floor does not provide view. Parking is available just outside the hotel.

First and most: This average and well overpriced hotel is shown by various agents (ie Booking com) as a...4* hotel. It is a totally misleading information and one wonders how this is allowed and who is behind this. The official hotel papers as issued by the Greek Nat.Tourist Organisation for every hotel (to be found not in a prominent place as it should be but hiding inside the wardrobes) clearly show this hotel as classed 2* (TWO STAR). Please be aware. This is a 2* hotel and NOT 4* as many of us thought. The only 4* stars about this hotel are the prices. High and not good value for money. We were quite surprised to see most of the "comments" made by other residents to be..positive. Indeed very surprised as to what is behind all this. If you happen to go there during cold months...brrrr...you will freeze..The very rude manager (evening shift-the one with the earring) claims that the heating controls are managed by the hotel staff and not the resident. If you are cold wear your coat..Even inside your room. Fungus in the worn wooden toilet seats..Insufficient average breakfast. Dangerously smokey by the fireplace inside the communal areas. Itchy eyes etc.
Snacks and drinks are dearer than if you have them at the..Eiffel tower. Residents shop from outside.
In one word. Find something else in the area. A lovely area by all means but this hotel and the staff behaviour (except for the lady there) will not please you if you want a but of value for your money.

Was there few weeks ago with my friend. We did lot of trekking, horse riding and the hotel room was just perfect. Breakfast not that much as in other hotels I have stayed but ok.
Evritania is one of the most beautiful areas in Greece, worth visiting.

I almost died in this hotel from CO poisoning. We got an upgrade for a suite which has its own energy fireplace. The fire protection system was shut down and as I was sleeping the whole room got filled with smoke from the fireplace! Of course the fire alarm did not go off and I woke up after 3 hours with my room literally filled with smoke (I could not see the other end of the room).
Luckily I am a light sleeper but imagine if elder people or children were sleeping in the room.
And may I say, no instructions were provided on how to light the fireplace! On the contrary I was almost encouraged to light it myself!
What made it fatal is that in order to save electricity they shut down the ventilation pump of the fireplace WITHOUT NOTIFYING YOU FIRST which is what caused the whole smoke release incident. (Of course at the beginning no instructions were provided in order to notify us of the existence of such a ventilation pump or were the switch is - which is by the way hidden in a cupboard OUTSIDE the room).
AND SINCE THE FIRE ALARM WAS OFF IN THE ROOM THERE WAS NO WARNING SO I KEPT SLEEPING. And slept until I started dreaming that I was burning up (I think it was because I was smelling all that smoke), which is why I woke up.

Funny thing is that I read that the management was rude to some people. Well it was such a fatal error not to have a fire protection system (which may I just say, we had to investigate ourselves! Had we not checked the fire protection system after the smoke incident, we wouldn't have discovered that it was off). Obviously having been busted, the manager admitted that the fire protection system was off and he was very polite and apologetic. I don't care really.
I am of course filling an official complaint since the most fatal error is that they don't have a fire protection system which is illegal and dangerous. I decided to write it to this website too in order to prevent families with small children from visiting this hotel.
Luckily I just got away with headaches, red eyes and a sore throat. Minimal considering what could have happened.
Other than that the hotel is fine - a bit to expensive if you ask me for what it has to offer. But what made me give a Terrible review is that I almost died and no pretentious luxury is worth your life.
