A hotel well below expectations. The location is fine, not far from the center of Shiathos, close to the supermarket and bus station, so you can arrive easy to all the beaches, friendly staff, large and clean pool. But the rooms for our group, located on the ground floor, were very bad, with problems in the bathroom and with ants. Breakfast was also very poor and same for 7 days. We received it directly on the plate, like the canteen of the poor. You didn't even have hot water for tea! You had to ask for it.
We stayed at the Stellina Hotel for 10 nights in July.
This is a very dated hotel, with old fashioned decor & furniture. The pool area & sunbeds are dirty with no atmosphere at all. As we arrived there was an huge storm, none of the sunbed cushions were taken in, as a result it took a couple of days for them to dry out.
The breakfast is adequate..... Bread, biscuits/crackers, cheese, ham, natural yoghurt and cereals with tea/coffee.
The one thing I would say about this hotel, the lady who cleaned our room did a fantastic job everyday...... we could not fault her.
It was at least a 10 minute walk into Skiathos Town, not the easiest walk as some of the pavements were missing.
We were only a few minutes from bus stop one, which was a bonus.
I’ll keep this short as possible. We stayed here as a transit night to get to Skopelos (the better of the two islands)
First night was a “garden view” room. Beds were filthy, pillows had mascara and muck on them. The couch had massive stains. You have to make your own bed, the aircon didn’t work, place stunk like smoke and mould.
We complained and wanted to cancel our second night back through being told the manager would contact us. He never did. Though, we did receive an upgrade to the pool view room to which we were very thankful.. Then more problems. Aircon didn’t work but the kind receptionist grabbed a new remote. Then we had no toilet paper (I think this is standard practice as we saw the same nice receptionist take one roll to another room with its occupant). The pool view room also stunk of mould and a very thick smell of weed was present in the hallway (not family friendly). When you shower it sprays everything as there is no curtain only a small edge around the bottom which as you can see is useless (see pictures of water leaking everywhere and under the door). Then finally, the icing on the cake. We were told our breakfast was 8-11 so as any young couple do we wondered down at 10:20 to grab breakfast and noticed that it was all packed up. A female worker named Maria then walked up to my partners face and in a rude condescending yell said 8 till 10, and then laughed... I’m usually easy going, but rudeness is unacceptable! We asked her name and went to see the manager. In very few words he slammed the doors open and told us “sit” as if we were about to be interrogated. The kind receptionist translated for us to which the manager then apologised for everything concerning us and on behalf of Maria. We have stayed in some pretty bad places around the world, but this has to be the worst! DO NOT STAY! Walk 10 -15 minutes from the airport into town and there are much nice and happier hotels to stay at. Positives - The receptionist guys were very helpful and nice. Close to the airport. Late checkout.

I'm baffled by some of the reviews about this hotel and staff, as for the 2 weeks we were there we were blessed with incredibly friendly staff, wonderful location, incredible food and total relaxation.
The staff were, without doubt, fantastic. Fay on reception was just fabulous, with a friendly smile and conversation. Nothing was too much trouble. Our cleaner was the most amazing and lovely lady. Panos (waiter / bar) was brilliant and very funny. The young girls waitressing each day were so helpful and friendly. Tassos the chef when we arrived was incredibly, and so accommodating to the fact I was coeliac and needed a gluten free diet. In fact, he was happy for us to request anything and he would make it for us. I think we had the best rabbit stifado possible! Even when there were a couple of kitchen issues beyond the hotel's control, they were so helpful and professional, sending us out to eat instead. Breakfast was serviceable, with breads, croissants, yoghurts, conserves and fruit, with a few days with cheese and ham, and even GF bread bought in for me.
It was our anniversary while we were there, and so as well as arranging a beautiful lunch for us, they also brought us a bottle of wine as a surprise. That was so touching, and showed how thoughtful and lovely they were.
The pool is very clean and towels are even provided for the guests to use by the pool. It's fairly quiet around the pool too, so sunbed war doesn't exist at the Stellina!
It's about 10-15 minutes from the town. There is a footpath all the way, some a little cracked, but safe enough unless you intend to jump in the road. There's also a back way we found that if you were concerned about children, this could be used instead.
We arranged transport but it's just minutes from the airport so personally I wouldn't bother with it next time and just get a taxi instead. Despite the fact it's only minutes from the runway, noise is minimal and actually standing in the carpark at the end of the runway watching planes coming in and out, so close to you, is a sight to behold! Take-offs are fab, as there are warning everywhere describing the danger of the blast, but then you see people standing on the wall, just metres behind the back of the plane, waiting to be blown off their feet!! Great for photos!
Lalaria is a great place to go (beach accessible only by boat) but check the wind conditions yourself as the boat owners will try to convince you it's safe when in fact even the smallest breeze can create some shocking conditions. We liked Tsougrias island better, with a stunning protected beach and the clearest water ever, Make sure you take your own snacks and water though. There are lots of boats offering trips to Skopelos and Alonnissos which is well worth it .
This was our first time to Skiathos and we couldn't have had a better time in this hotel. Superb! Thank you so much.
