Really enjoyed the hospitality of this family run hotel. We were the only English folk which wasn’t bad, but worth noting.
-Pretty much everything is included, bikes, children’s robes, good toiletries, slippers.
-Good quality food, eg large cuts of meat, variety of cheeses, great cakes daily and some a la carte nights to take away buffet fatigue.
-Lovely pool with lots of double loungers and chill out zones. Great flume with timer, a really fun idea.
-Great kids club with interesting activities scheduled including trips to their hay barn, ropes course and farm with pony rides which is well above standard kids club offerings. Judith, Petra and Oscar were excellent and had great English.
-Evening activity was good with a band, bread on a stick making with a fire, birdhouse making. Really wonderful.
-The family hike to the chalet was excellent. Delicious steak and bbq food and beer and a wonderful spirit.
-our 6 year old did Klixy klaxy climbing run by the town for free for 4 hrs. Again he was only English kid so think it was a bit hard, especially when it came to lunch but he toughed it out.
We borrowed bikes one day and hired electric bikes another and did great local rides.
-Owners were present each day working hard and thanking guests for their custom, quite impressive and humbling.
I did love this place which felt tranquil and homely and spacious, but being objective and hopefully helpful;
-The restaurant reminded me a little of the harvester style, but we soon got over that. We were tucked at the back with no views which was a shame.
-The hotel is on the road, not noisy but worth noting.
We then went to Garberhof 1 hour away but didn’t like it. It looks to be an excellent hotel with great food and staff were top notch but it was just in the town so didn’t have the feeling of space that we got used to. For example, The farm really wasn’t a farm, we saw one pony. We switched to family hotel Alpenhof right back by Huber.
That is similar price to Huber. Has fantastic views, food isn’t as good. Kids club has excellent English speaking staff But didn’t have the outdoors and craft activities of Huber. Pool is good there with a fun slide, rooms are spacious and bright. Both great hotels, we missed the Alpenhof family hike due to rain but it didn’t seem to be the party that Huber put on which we really appreciated. Alpenhof prob best for little babies and toddlers as it has a good baby set up.
Again at Alpenhof family hotel (not to be confused with dolomit family Alpenhof) we are only English.
Both are fab, highly recommend.
We had an amazing week at Hotel Huber. There isn’t a single thing that we could say that wasn’t perfect. The staff are all super friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. Food was amazing and connection to ski rental and slopes couldn’t be easier. The best was to come back after a day on the slopes, indulge in the cake buffet and finish the day with a visit to the pool and sauna.
All areas are kept exceptionally clean and in good working condition.
We stayed in Room Akelei which provided enough space for two adults and two children. The kids had their own little self contained area with window and bunk bed.
The place is ideal for smaller children but even our teenage son enjoyed the food, fun water slide and facilities and easy access to the slopes.
You can tell that the owners look after their property and are involved hands on in the day to day running of the hotel, keeping standards high. Staff seems to be happy working there which reflects on the service they provide to their guests. They make you feel like part of the family.
This was our third visit to Hotel Huber and we will definitely come back.
The best family holiday. The hotel is in an amazing location. Beautiful scenery which allows plenty of relaxation and things to do. The family and staff are very welcoming. Many things provided in room are very thoughtful and I would have never expected to find available (including hot water bottle, rubber duck for children to play with, toilet stool for children) food was amazing every day but especially during Italian evening. Suggestions for daily activities available in several languages for family, couples and also for rainy days. Much thought goes into all services available such that you are always comfortable and looking forward to the next activity. Kids club activities are wonderful and kids loved going as was the pool.
We spent one week in August 2017 with our family. In the south of Italy was more than 40 deg. But in Sud Tirol we had very nice weather with temp. around 23 deg. Perfect for walking on hundreds of paths with amazing views. Very good service, great food with local specialities, clean and nice rooms (we were in the renovated part of the hotel), nice pool with slide. We were happy, children even more. One small disadvantage of our room was the ringing of the bell which was on the church tower just 30 m from our window, from 6:00 AM...
We have been to few other family hotels in South Tirol but this one is really wonderful.
The kids are at the center of everything while the parents can relax with hikes, pools, spa, wine & dine, etc!
We picked the Kaiser Suite and the view over the valley left us speechless.
Moreover the food (breakfast, lunch and dinner...no to mention the myriad of cakes in the afternoon...) and the different evening themes spoilt us throughout.
Only 1 suggestion for improvement: wifi!
I would definitely recommend such a place for any family with young kids.
