A beautiful romantic getaway for two in a perfect cottage.. with the best views in South Australia. Private, comfortable and has everything you need for a wonderful stay 😊
Fully equipped kitchen, BBQ and outdoor room, lovely bed, large bathroom , washing machine and so much more...
Just a few minutes outside Victor Harbour and surrounding points of interest, Kings Beach Retreat is just that - a peaceful retreat with stunning views from every room and yet each room has complete privacy. We were a group of 6 couples who meet every 2 years for a reunion and this was one of the best. While there are many things to do in this area, including Kangaroo and Hindmarsh Islands, the horse drawn tram to Granite Island, the Cockle train, museums and the HeysenTrail, it is also wonderful to sit at home at the retreat and read, gaze at the sea and watch stunning sunrises and sunsets.
Do note: This is not a hotel, but a self-catering resort. Supermarkets, wine shops etc are just 15 mins away by car at Victor Harbour. The kitchen is well equipped with all you could need. We picked up lovely meat and vegetables, chutneys and jams at the market at Penneshaw on Kangaroo Island.
We recently stayed in the Sand Retreat (there are 3 available next to each other one sleeps only 2, Sand which sleeps 5 and the Main which sleeps about 13)
It is noted that the Sand is 2bedroom...well that's quite misleading! There is really only 1 bedroom and a king bed out in the open of the kitchen and lounge and not a bedroom per say.
Our booking was for 5ppl however we only had 2 towels allocated.
Its noted down to be self catering accommodation, so believed this would have an oven available, NO, and no conventional microwave either. But a call to the owners who then allowed us to utilise the Main retreat's kitchen to use the oven for our meal we had bought with us which we then noticed is the retreat with the conventional microwave!
The views here are absolutely beautiful!
The Sand is also a bit smaller than it really looks in the photos but we managed to have just enough room for 5 adults. The outside paved area enclosed was also a bit smaller than expected. The little heater available out there wasn't too bad considering how cold it was at night it did well to keep that horrid ice chill away.
I would recommend this place to mainly couples and defiantly only for a few days as the fridge really isn't big enough to hold much food and drink. And only able to cater to cook very simple food as no traditional cook top just a small heating plate thing and the fan in the kitchen really needs to be fixed asap......looks like it has not been working for some time and the smoke alarm will go off if trying to cook even with a sliding door open.
Defiantly requires a bit of attention again and wording of their description be reviewed and looked at.
