Lovely room with lots of personal touches. Very warm and friendly hosts Marilyn and Keith. Superb breakfast with everything you could want and more.
Exellent value for money. Would most definitely go back next time in lanark.
Would have given 5 star but no bath in our room.

After looking unsuccessfully for a late booking in the centre of Glasgow, Hotels.com suggested Oakwood. This was a little further out than I intended to be but when I arrived it seemed I had got lucky.

The property is set in a very scenic and tranquil little valley. There is ample parking and easy access down a small country lane about a mile from the centre of Lanark. Immediately after booking online I received a phone call from owner Keith, to confirm my booking, arrival time and make sure I was able to find the property without difficulty.

When I arrived at the property Keith was there to greet me with an umbrella in the car park (to save me from the good Scottish weather!), and kindly helped carry some of my luggage in.

The building itself is gorgeous inside; open plan, spacious, modern and peaceful; a bit like the places you see on Grand Designs! As an added bonus; there is a large games room containing a full size snooker table, and other pastimes such as chess sets available.

Keith then proceeded to book me in, and showed me the room which was beautiful. Spacious, comfortable, well appointed and lots of little touches like bathrobes, home made cakes, water and ice cubes in a nice insulated bucket make this a luxurious place to stay. The room had a gorgeous balcony looking out to the valley and trees beyond; sadly the good Scottish weather kept me from sampling it. Ensuite bathroom facilities are similarly excellent, with the most powerful invigorating shower I have experienced, and a bright spacious and well appointed layout.

Keith also very helpfully provided a recommendation and contact number for dinner at the Inn on the Loch, a nice Bistro / restaurant in Lanark. The food there was tasty and well priced, and the place was busy (always a good sign).

After setting such high standards everywhere else; the included breakfast carried on the experience, and Keith served up a fantastic array of breakfast choices, both continental and cooked, all of which were available inclusive of the room rate. The Scottish cooked breakfast was individually done to order and was excellent. Indeed, after breakfast I didn't need to eat until evening!

As I was gathering my things to leave for meetings; I was thinking that I didn't want to leave. It certainly would have been a fantastic place to spend a day roaming around the local area, then coming back to have a relaxing afternoon reading a book.

If I have the opportunity to stay nearby again; I will certainly be back to stay at Oakwood, and can't recommend enough the quality of accommodation and the friendliness of the proprietors Keith and Marilyn.

What a great find. This is a B&B that's is very nicely laid out. I was arriving late which was not a problem for the owners. It's worth pulling a map off as it is tucked at the bottom of the road and is not sign posted but using postcode and map apps was able to find and welcomed by the owner. The hotel overlooks the valley and it was a lovely site in the morning with the sun coming up.
Getting in was no problem plenty of secure parking and without any hassle was given a tour of the room and asked for a breakfast time of choice.
Room was spacious and very clean with some snacks, tea and coffee and as a lonely touch some bottled water with an ice bucket.
Facilities are great and I'm sure if you had time would put them to use, it had a lounge area and a lovely snooker room.
Breakfast catered for for a full range of hot or cold foods and is a lovely light airy room with great views.
Would certainly recommend it to anyone and will be using it when visiting the area for business going forward.

We stayed here for a function in Lanark and I have to say we were delighted we did as there were no rooms at the hotel venue of the function, however on the day one did become free, but my gut-instinct was to stuck with our booking at Oakwood and how glad we did!

Keith and his wife welcomed us so warmly and showed us to our amazing room where the attention to detail was amazing, lovely personal little touches like afternoon -tea delivered to your room upon arrival and a bottle of Scottish Water. The views off our balcony were to die-for and the areas so peaceful. The bed was super comfy with crisp linen and the bathroom clean and modern with an amazing shower, I have shower envy as am currently in the middle of a building renovation in my own home.

Breaksfast was lovely with thoughtful touches like little tea lights burning everywhere and the choice was overwhelming for somebody who normally is a an avid juicer but I managed to eat most of the child's portion of cooked breakfast I requested.

I really wish there were more places like this in the UK where the host's were chatty and friendly and had a genuine interest in people, it reminded me of my travels in Australia where we stayed in guesthouses as opposed to faceless hotels.

I wish Keith and his wife every success with their new venture and hopefully we will be back if they are not fully booked!
