We usually stay at the Divi because there are Plenty of sunbeds around the pool and On the beach. I don't recall seeing any sunbeds belonging to SP on the beach? Are there any?

This place is very nice and has a wonderful beach. The food is good and the entertainment was nice. Our room was small but adequate. Water sports are available. Adults only, no kids. Very nice pool. The place has a quiet charm to it.

My wife and I enjoyed our honeymoon last year at Southern Palms and decided to return again this year. Having taken an ocean view room for 10 days the last time we decided to come back for two weeks and book a suite.
The suite was very good with both a balcony and a huge sun terrace on the roof. We never used the sun terrace because it was absolutely filthy with dead moss and general yuck. It's obviously never cleaned. Having said that the balcony was fine on its own. The cooker was a bit temperamental so not too easy to use. Nevertheless, all in all we were glad we had paid the extra for the suite.
The hotel itself is supremely well placed on Dover Beach which is kept immaculate by the (huge) hotel staff. The bar and restaurant are overpriced for what they are and the bar closes ridiculously early for a hotel principally occupied by adults. That's a big gripe. We returned to the hotel at 10.30 after eating out often to be told the bar was about to close! Way too early!
If the Southern Palms were to spend a bit on reviving old fittings and fixtures and cleaning the fish pools occasionally it would indeed be hard to beat. However, it hasn't, so if you go prepare to be very, very slightly disappointed. It's probably still the best hotel in The Gap though. (When in the Gap visit Jonny Cool at Castaways - he's a character!)
If you don't need to be in the Gap (and remember Barbados is not a big place) the Hilton, newly opened in Bridgetown, in my view would be a better option for the extra few pounds it costs. Hope this helps!

Only visited to see the Barbados Steel Band which plays 12-3 every sunday.
They were brilliant and the best I have seen apart from the massive steel band at Shirley Heights in Antigua so not an equal comparison.
The gentlemen are all of a certain age so recommend going within the foreseeable future.
Nice bar/pool area

Best Hotel in Barbados 🇧🇧
On the beach and St Lawrence Gap. Situated on a beautiful stretch of beach ⛱️ no horrible sun brollys, only palm trees to lie under and watch the world go by. Ideal for weddings.
Rooms/communal areas kept very clean. Staff/reception very friendly. They can't do enough for you. Bar/restaurant delicious food/drinks/service
2 well maintained pools.
Afternoon Tea with home made cakes.
Happy Hour 6-7pm
Hairdressers on site, Tracey is lovely.
Steel band entertainment a couple of times a week.
We 100% recommend this beautiful bajan hotel with different buildings all in Barbie pink 💖🏨

My husband and I got married at the Southern Palms. We only had to make a few decisions and the hotel took care of all the details. It was a completely stress-free wedding and all the other guests at the hotel were so nice! The hotel room was clean and had everything we needed. The pool view room had a gorgeous view of the ocean from our balcony.

Hi… it would be a pleasure welcoming you at Southern Palms… there are plenty of loungers by both pools and on the beach, along our 1000 ft of beach frontage
Regards
Britta
Hi
We look forward to welcoming you at Southern Palms . We provide sun beds on the beach, not umbrellas… we have large palm trees that give shade on the beach
We have sun beds and umbrellas on the property … around the pool and on terraces

Hi
Looking forward to welcoming you at Southern Palms
The hotel accommodation is situated in 6 buildings Most ocean view rooms are in the crescent building by the small pool, but we have ocean view rooms in several buildings ... all rooms have balcony or patio

Britta
Hi
We do not have a children's pool... both pools are graded from steps across the width of pool to 8ft in the opposite end

Britta
It's a very flat site - but no lifts so a ground room will be essential for a wheelchair user. Yes, there are rooms with an ocean view - but, of course, the ground floor rooms are not the best for that. I'd not put the immediate area down as a great walking area - the beach is lovely but only about 400m and I don't think the St Lawrence Gap road itself would win any beauty contests.
