Me and my partner stayed at the southern palms from 28th August for 10 nights and found the hotel to be just simply amazing!

On arrival check in was quick and smooth and we had a polite gentleman take the cases to our room. We had paid for a garden view room but as can be seen from the pictures attached our view was just simply amazing and was unreal to go out every morning and just sit and look out to sea!

The rooms are of a good size and the balcony is more than big enough, the air con is a life saver and nice to walk in to a cool room after been in the heat. The rooms are nice and very clean, the beds are huge and comfy the bathrooms are a tad dated but still nice and knew this before we travelled. The WiFi worked perfectly from our room (315) and had no problems staying connected all holiday.

The facilities at the hotel are good the pool is nice and clean and you have the paradise that is Dover beach steps away! It's worth walking round the hotel just to have a look around as the grounds are beautiful.

The food from the hotel is reasonably priced for Barbados and is actually really nice we had a few meals at the hotel and was impressed every time. It is worth going out to eat though as the gap has some good place to eat. We found that some of the bar staff were a bit stand off-ish and seemed disinterested most of the time but the most were pleasant and polite.

A special mention to Jan and Jenni I had emailed before about proposing to my girlfriend on the beach whilst we were there and they were so accommodating and helpful! They set a table on the beach and the setting was beyond anything that either of us could have dreamed of! So once again just a massive thank you for everything you did it made memories we will never forget!!

If anybody reading this is thinking about staying at the Southern Palms then please go because you will not regret it and you will have the holiday of a life time!

Our experience at the Southern Palms Resort was excellent. The complex was situated directly on the beach, and the attached restaurants and pools all had stunning views of the azure waves. Being just a few minutes from the St. Lawrence Gap, there were approximately 15 restaurants within easy walking distance, and the nightlife was relatively lively. The mini-golf course was also very enjoyable. The landscaping included pools full of fish and turtles which were enjoyable to watch. Free wi-fi internet access really was the cherry on top of the facilities offered.

The hotel management consistently made us feel at home, with an excellent rum punch party. The cleaners were always prompt in getting the room tidied and the waiters were quite professional. What really blew me away was that when I ordered room service breakfast for my wife's birthday, the management overheard and arrange for a bottle of champagne to be sent up at the same time.

Indeed the only part of the experience that left me considering putting in a 4 dot review instead of a 5 was the quality of the room. Although our room had a spacious patio, the room itself was quite small and the T.V. only received 4 or 5 channels.

Just returned from a great vacation to Barbados. This was my fourth trip to Barbados, and my first stay at the Southern Palms. My boyfriend and I upgraded to an oceanfront room which was well worth it. Our room was steps away from the sandy white beach and we heard the waves crashing onshore as we fell asleep. The hotel is perfect for the person(s) looking for a convenient location to the beach, shops, and nightlife. Only a 10-15 minute taxi from the airport, a short walk to the Gap (nightlife and restaurants) and plenty of rumshacks and supermarkets nearby. The beach is very large for most hotels in Barbados. I have previously stayed at the Bougainvillea which is also nice by the way! Our room had a small refrigerator which was perfect to store juice, water, Banks Beer etc. It also had a hot water pot which was perfect for tea drinkers. I should mention most people at the hotel were either British or Canadian, which is very popular throughout the island. The bajans are very friendly, outgoing, and hospitable. Sandy who works the water sports at the hotel is a very nice man who is a big help with questions about the hotel/nightlife etc. Windsurfing lessons are free at the hotel and u should def. make use of them, because the sport is really great fun! Wanted to also mention that u should be prepared for a few locals on the beach who try to sell you anything they can. Mostly aloe, necklaces etc. it's very annoying but if u just politely let them know u are not interested they will leave u alone. This happens at most beaches as all beaches in Barbados are public. The hotel itself is in need of an uplift, but if you are not too picky or looking for an ultra modern place to stay, I would highly recommend it, especially for the price! If you go out to eat in the Gap, Def. try Pisces and Sweet Potatoes(bajan cuisine). Josef's has amazing views, good service but the food was a huge disappointment and $$$. A 5 minute taxi ride will bring you to Champers, a superb restaurant, pricey but worth it. Make reservations and ask for an ocean view table. Hope this helps you! Stay Irie :)

We booked at Infinity on the Beach, but they overbooked and moved us to southern palms. While at first I was a bit upset it all turned out fine. Room 242 is quite large and very quiet. The angles balcony gave a nice view of the beach and grounds. We had booked a king, but got 2 doubles which was fine for 2 nights. We had a la carte breakfast each morning for around $25 US. Plenty of beach chairs but I don't think they were booked full. If you want shade, get to the beach early to claim a palm tree. The hotel was quiet but still an easy walk to the "party zone".

We stayed here from 5th May until 12 May for our wedding at the hotel on 9th May. Many thanks to Jenni who was fab arranging it for us. We met some fantastic people too. The hotel is on an amazing beach and it's location is excellent, as within walking distance to the Gap where there are lovely restaurants and bars. We especially enjoyed Happy Days across the road for breakfast (English sausages).
The rooms are a litte dated and tired but served a purpose as we weren't in the room a lot at all. We didn't eat at the restaurant in the hotel. We had a couple of drinks from the bar, and this was the only area where we believe there could be room for improvement in customer service and the prices are really expensive compared to local bars and supermarkets.
We will definitely return to this hotel when we return.
