The place deserves the good reviews. I booked for two nights and asked them if they had any availability for the night before as it was fully booked online. They offered the so called reserve room, at the back, next to the laundry room, which was ok. The bed was huge and very comfortable. The bathroom was outside and kind of small. But it was perfectly fine for one night, also with a nice veranda and somehow offering more privacy. The sea view room was great too, bigger, even had a safety box. Well, you don’t really see the sea, unless you get room 101. Free water refill, free snorkelling equipment, including life jacket and shoes. Some of the snorkels are not in good shape, you need to try and change them until you find a good one.
The place is perfect for snorkelling offshore. The best time, for me, was early in the morning, from 7, when the tide was still low and the water surface was like a mirror, until 9-9.30, and in the late afternoon. A current comes out after 8.30 am but it’s not always very strong. To the right, in front of the Quo Vadis resort, the corals are beautiful, it’s possible to reach even the sardines, swimming, though it’s a bit far and it’s too crowded. But to the left of Pescadores is far more beautiful. It’s stunning! Just be aware of the current on the way back. I did not see turtles. After 9 am the noise from the boat engines is deafening, even underwater. Unfortunately, the reef is getting damaged.
Breakfast is from 7 to 10 am and is included. They were so kind to pack it for me, if I could not make it in time. I had the Pilipino breakfast, it was ok - rice, fried eggs, meat - the pork was ok, but the tuna was canned. Regretfully, there was only instant coffee. They also sell local food until 12.00 that would be perfect for lunch. The restaurant is overpriced and offers bento which I did not find appealing. Only when you reach the end of the road in the so called “downtown” - some 10-15 minutes walk, and turn to the right you can find places that sell local food. All other restaurants are a touristy crap.
The staff was helpful and nice. But there are a lot of Korean tourists who are quite noisy and the guys are really bad mannered. The plus of this places is also that it’s remote enough from the massive rooster crowing that occurs in the morning near the Quo Vadis resort, which can be heard only vaguely. You anyway have to always bring ear plugs when traveling, especially in the Philippines, as the coolers they use are too noisy. To wrap it up, Pescadores is perfect for sleeping, having a rest and snorkelling, and I’d be happy to be back. Highly recommending it! The massages were also good. I did not enter the swimming pool but it was cleaned every morning and seemed fine. Sunset was lovely.
