This place offered quite the provincial vibe which I enjoyed a lot. Considering that it wasn't that far from the metro as compared to your typical beach destination, it provided the same effect of escaping the pollution of Manila.
The beach, though only a small area, was clean and the water was clear. We had kids with us and they enjoyed the beach very much. The pool was also okay though it may have a tendency to get a bit crowded (especially if there are many guests checked in).
It was an overall good experience and I would recommend this resort for short family vacations that do not require extra long trips.
We stayed for 3 days & 2 nights, here's my take on the good & the bad.
Pros:
1) Clean Beach & Clear water
2) Kid Friendly (Environment & Pool)
3) Strong mobile 4G signal - SMART
4) Clean area, surrounded by trees, close to nature
Cons:
1) Small Room (may vary, we availed Narra room due to availability)
2) Narra Room: Defective doors / screen, Defective cable box, Defective toilet flush, Cramped
3) "WiFi is down" during our stay
4) Fluctuating electricity
5) Average food / taste & variety, nothing special
6) Front Desk not accommodating enough
I felt like it's not worth my spending overall.
You'll feel the difference especially at the beach front, it's a little boring compared to other resorts beside it. No plans of coming back :(
We had our holy week vacation recently in Laiya. Amongst handful of resorts in laiya we ended up staying in Sabangan due to non-availability and peak season. Good thing we started our trip on wednesday traffic is still manageable but when we came home we passed by pile of vehicles standstill along san juan road enduring the holy week traffic jam. Back to sabangan, during my reservation inquiries everything was fine until we saw how outdated is the remaining bamboo cottage in the resort. Checkin is fast though but very hot in the reception area as there aint a single fan visible and alas wind is no-show. Ample parking and shaded by trees. The bamboo cottage in my opinion is an eyesore in the resort as its in the middle of loft style villas. Its not getting any maintenance, the walls are cracked and the bamboos are somewhat gray in color. My niece left a bread on the bambootable and ants swarmed in no time. Do not choose the bamboo cottage or you will regret your stay! No toiletries in the bathroom but it came when ive asked for it. The bathroom has strong sewery smell( yes like someone is always pooping) with dirty and old fixtures check the photo attached. I gag when I saw it :(( I paid 6k for a stinky accomodation btw. Full-board meals are fine,all filipino cuisine nothing special, no juice,no cocktails, no snacks. Beach is pebbly with lots of seaweeds. We enjoyed it only for picture taking. Two pools adult only 4ft and kiddie pool both small. There was a guest who brought small boat-like floater in the pool it kept on bouncing on other guests, absurd and selfish idea. I love the trees and the surroundings though. Make a lot of difference if they can set-up fans as its too hot during summer. I like the hanging stand in every cottage for the wet swimwears, very helpful. Overall our vacation is fun because its about family bonding, hence, we didnt stay all the time in the cottage. When we come back I hope they already renovated or demolished the bamboo cottage.
We have been to Sabangan three times already over the past 2 years. It is a small resort with lots of personal touches. The room are very nice, the food (which comes with the fee) is always so good. The beach is clean, and there are activities available. The pool is nice too. We just love it there.
Sabangan Beach Resort is roughly 180 KMs away from Manila. The resort is situated in the province of Batangas.
Pros:
* Beachfront accommodation
* Nice pool both for kids and adults
* Full board meals - lunch, dinner and breakfast
* Secured parking space
* Most of the rooms are villa type accommodation
* Nice and pleasant crew
Cons:
* A bit pricey
* Rooms are a bit small
* Their buffet a has limited choices of food
