Unimaginable service at this day and age. We had to leave 1US dollar on the bed before leaving our room, otherwise our room won’t we cleaned. Also it took us 4 day’s just to get an extra blanket. We bought nice whisky bottle before arrival, when decided to open it bottle was stolen. When we asked at reception how that was possible only answer we got was that housekeeping staff didn’t take it and not even an apology!
This hotel is very good for its price. Beach is beautiful. I woke up every morning and went swim, it's amazing. Food is great, lots of vegetables and meat. Something for anyone. Motivation team is very good, it's not boring with them. Rooms are good, not special, but you don't go to holiday to be at room, right? ;)
It's my fifth time going on holiday in Turkey and from far it's the most horrible experience had!
In just a few words:
Rooms: dirty, AC only between 13.30-17.00 and 22.00-01.00. If you are in the room at other hours, you have no air - it's simply hot! The bathroom is full of rust, all is very old (both in rooms and batroom).
Restaurant: a lot of not eating food, some local fish and barbeque of chicken being the only food relative okay. Not a day with sea food, beef or lamb (at other hotels in Turkey they were a lot)...
Drinks: only local drinks, very weak and with bad taste! Not any international drinks, even if I paid for it when I booked the holiday...
Pool: pretty small, comparing with the number of turists. Atention: no umbrellas anywhere!
Beach: no umbrellas, a lot of stone (no sand at all, not even on the volleyball court!), no bar on the beach....
The only plus of this hotel are the animators, young people who tried to make us feel ok...
My advise before you book this hotel: check for another as fast as you can!
This is an hotel of 2 stars most!
Though it was my first time at an all-inclusive resort, I can tell you that it is most definitely not a 5 star hotel.
Our room was on the ground floor, clean and tidy. Unfortunately the bathroom was not as ok, but we've seen the bathrooms of other rooms that our friends stayed in and they were ok, so I guess it's just luck.
You get wi-fi only in the lobby and it can get pretty crowded at times.
The food was really good, lots of choices at breakfast, lunch and dinner, and the desserts were delicious, but the drinks were a little "watery", alcholic and non-alcholic too. We had trouble making a reservation for the a-la-carte restaurant, but that is a whole other story.
Which brings me to the staff... Very few members of the hotel staff know English and by few I mean one person at Reception and maybe one at the Bar, which is unacceptable in a "5 star hotel". If it's not their shift, though luck, sign language all the way. They all know Russian, though. Forget Turkish, it seemed like Russian is the default language at La Mer, so you might wanna look into a few lessons if you plan on stayin here. :))
Also, politeness is not their strong suit, especially some of the bartenders were rude. If you dare to ask for a cocktail, be prepared to be looked at like they are making you a huge favor (and not their job). But again, we encountered a few nice ones too, so they are not all rotten eggs.
The location is simply amazing! Kemer is really beautiful and the view is breathtaking. The garden, beach and pool area are nice and well-maintained. The only downside is that you are not allowed to swim in the pool after 8.00 p.m. and also the spa and inside pool is closed after 7 p.m. There is not much to do after that but hang around or go to daily show in the "amfiteatr".
The animation team is alright, they were really into it, nice and cheery and had a varied schedule of activities throughout the day. Don't plan on sleeping before 2 a.m. because the music will be blasting from the "the disco".
All in all, it was a great trip, but there is room for improvement as far as the hotel is involved, that is for sure. The location is fantastic!
Just returned from La Mer last night. I do agree with all the comments of the people who stayed here before.
90% of the people staying in the hotel are Russian, thus all staff at reception speaks Russian. Tattoo free hotel:))) Russians don't cover their bodies in tattoos:)) Family type resort - no pissed loud tourists. Kids well behaved - Russians have traditional ideas of bringing them up.
Anyway. Initially I have got the room overlooking amphitheatre - in fact, some 10 meters from amphitheatre. Music was very very loud and it was not possible to stay in the room until 11pm! My safe also did not work, so I was happy to use one at reception - I knew I can open and close it:) and and all my staff is safe:)
After second spoilt by really loud music night have asked to be moved to another room. No problem at all. Pretty blond girl gave me a key from a quiet room in new block (C) with stunning view. Very happy!!! Reception staff, especially the girls, especially Alfia - really lovely, helpful, friendly, understanding and efficient.
The food was average, if not below average. Every night (sometimes during the day) had to run to the bathroom. But, watermelon and tomato soup were excellent.
The garden around the hotel is fantastic. Palm trees, southern pines, oleanders, flowers, swallows flying, birds singing, and majestic chain of Taurus mountains as a back view - if there was paradise on Earth, it must have been in Turkey.
There are 4 or 5 hammocks attached to the pine trees - I took my chance and spent at least an hour relaxing, often having my catnap right in the hammock:)
The beach is cleaned regularly, I had no problems. The water is pristine, crystal clear, and you can see small fishes just around your feet:) I only found animation far too loud, you could their music and screams everywhere:(((((( That in my opinion is a big minus to the hotel.
No wifi in the rooms - you have to go down to the lobby to play with your phone or tablet.
Anyway, guys, the hotel is closing down for refurbishment end October, reopening again in April.
There are also plenty of shops just across the street - leather, furs, home textile (highly recommended!!!), Turkish delights, swimwear, souvenirs, T-shirts and jeans (Turkish D&G).
There are also 2 travel agencies across the road, literally 5 mins walk from the hotel - they offer fantastic excursions and activities, starting with sights (and there is a lot to see there, trust me) till Fire of Anatolia show. I booked my hammam with one of them - amazing experience, I paid 15 USD instead of 45 in the hotel.
Overall, my holiday was one of the most restful and wonderful I ever had.
I will definitely be back!
Thank you very much girls and boys at reception!
