The hotel is very close to the exit for Velez-Blanco from the A317 but it isn't much of a walk to reach the centre of town. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming; coped really well with my limited Spanish.
The view from our room at the front of the hotel was amazing. There was a decent amount of storage space for our large luggage (this stay was part of a larger tour so we had a lot with us) but only a few hangers. The towels were very good quality and the shower gel smelled delicious, I wanted to pinch it all.
We were told at check-in that the air-con isn't very good so they gave us two fans to supplement it because it was very hot. Frustratingly there weren't many electrical sockets and using both fans meant we were limited to use the TV or phone charger etc
There was a delicious smell of cooking as we arrived and we were told it was pintxo night, and it was that, that I could smell.
The food in the restaurant was very good and not expensive; we ate there both evenings. It is popular with locals too, Thursday was especially lively being pintxo night because they are included in the price of a beer.
We only had two nights here and could have stayed longer. A guide booklet we picked up in the hotel described Velez-Blanco as being "in the shelter of Monte Maimon on the side of a hill crowned by a magnificent castle" the whole area is full of history from Iberians, Romans, Visigoths & Moors. It's a good area for enjoying history, nature, walking and bird watching.
The hotel is close to the castle and it was easy to find some of the fountains from the Moorish period, and if you wish to visit a cave with wall paintings they will arrange for the opening with the curators
I'm certain we will return

We spent one night here - the staff are very friendly and the room was comfortable, clean and had a great view.

Due to the alte arrival, we ate in the hot6el restaurant. The hamburger was passable, and my girlfriends food was good, but cold. Don't eat the hamburger!

This is a wonderfully Spanish hotel with the most amazing view from the front. We booked a suite so the room was very roomy. The hotel was clean and the staff were very helpful. Although none spoke English we managed with a little French and lots of gestures and smiles. Breakfast was really nice with great coffee and lots of refills. The village has the most wonderful castle which was free to get in. Just a ruin but very interesting. There was nothing much open to eat in the evening so best to check if going in winter.

We stayed at the hotel for two nights at the beginning of November and had some fairly exacting needs - not least a room that was easy to access and parking close to the entrance. We arrived to be greeted with a smile and everything we requested ready for us, including a room immediately next to the lift, just above the lobby - and parking outside the door. The views are quite spectacular - from every window - even from the road outside! The hotel is a short walk from the centre of the town, where there are several bars and restaurants and a brisk walk from the castle. Next time we explore the ancient cave paintings. The beds are firm, the rooms clean - but above all else - all the staff of this family run hotel were a pleasure to meet and deal with.

A really lovely hotel with stunning views from the bedrooms. The staff were extremely accommodating and the rooms were nicely decorated in rustic style and lovely and clean. Great place, I'd love to stay again, can't wait for our next visit.
