The Hotel is a gothic styled mansion and is situated in a fantastic location perched above the sea. Our room, 140, had large french windows overlooking the sea, we could hear the waves breaking on the rocks. The bed was large and comfortable and everything was spotlessly clean.
The hotel is somewhat eccentric. The reception area is rather dark and a little shabby and was manned (seemingly 24 hours a day) by two casually dressed staff. Admittedly we were travelling out of season but the lovely residents lounge was kept locked (!) and we felt 'banished' to our room. The dining room is magnificent but we found the Table d'hote (beautifully served and presented) too rich to eat there every night. The swimming pool was being completely renovated and will be beautiful when completed.

Having read some of the previous comments were were a little concerned about staying here, but there was no need to worry. Without being asked the receptionist, Renauld, picked up my wife's case and carried it into the hotel. He was pleasant, welcoming and friendly and, when my fractured French was exhausted, he cheerfully switched to English. He showed us to our room, explained about the powered shutters, the expresso coffee machine, the big fluffy towels for the indoor pool and the restaurant. Our room had a superb view from our large balcony over the ocean to the lighthouse and was very clean; we went to sleep to the sound of the waves on the beach. Ok, the decorations are a little old fashioned, but all was in good order. Dinner in the hotel restaurant was very good, if a little expensive, with a superb view of the sunset. The indoor pool is very good but it is slightly annoying having to go up in the lift, walk through reception and a sitting room, to reach the sun terrace after a swim. Outside the hotel gate the coastal path leads to the town which is about 45/50 minutes away. The direct route takes about 25 minutes. We would be very happy to return here, thanks Renauld!

No welcome dispite staff at the desk. Charged for three bed room dispite having email to confirm free childs bed. The male on duty became irritated when I attempted to show him my email I had to confirm this. Rooms and hotel very dated and stuck in the 70s along with the facilities. Could hear people in next room dispite the hotel claims, sound proofed walls. Only lift access to 2nd floor, no escape root. Plug sockets hanging off wall in my sons room who had a 15 month old child with them. Balcony not safe for toddlers, child could fit through gaps.. pool freezing dispite claims it was heated. No markers as to depth. No shallow end. Not safe for children and not swimers. Tiles around the pool not safe when wet, clearly not pool tiles. Why has this hotel evaded any heath and safety checks ? Ordered 4 breakfast dispite expense as it claims full buffet, bacon and sausage included, NOT, waited 45mins, asked staff 3 times, eventually gave up. Waiter very rude and anything we asked for seemed too much, he huffed and puffed the whole time. Told the restaurant closed the days we were there. Monday Tuesday dispite what was advertised. On leaving after 3 nights, I disputed the final bill with the reception person who promptly began to demand payment as the bill was correct while nursing a 2 month old child. She became loud and hysterical at me while attracting the attention of all the morning dinners until she acknowledged she had charged me 278 euros too much as this was taken the 1st night by the hotel. I asked to speak to the manager to which she replyed, to my shock, I am the manager. She was the most rude hysterical inexperienced person with no management or people skills I have ever met. She threatend to take the didisputed amount from my card wether I piad or not. I promptly told her, that was illegal an I got no apology when she realised her error. Never recommend this place to anyone .dispite the incredible view, it was not worth the price and hassle.

We only stayed one night at this hotel and could not wait to check out. The rooms are very tired and dated and had a smell of an old peoples home which was extremely unpleasant. It was very expensive - I cannot understand why ? A single coffee was 6.50 euros. The apparently heated pool was very cold and totally unsuitable for children as it was deeper than my 6ft 3" husband all the way around. The rooms are in need of a total refurb and we could hear the next door room having a bath at 6.30 am which woke us all up. Is a good location however that is not a reason to stay ! Truly disappointing, very unpleasant experience.
