Mr Himanshu Gaur ( owner of Deer view, Ramnagar ) , I hope you are reading this. I will narrate my experience here to all the travellers and would ask them to do some research before choosing this so called resort.
After reading some good reviews in Tripadvisor, I decided to book this hotel for our visit to Corbett national park ( Couldn't get accommodation in Dhikala FRH) for 24th and 25th December 2016. I booked 3 rooms, two standard and one cottage through stayzilla. Once the booking was done I received an email from stayzilla saying either Mr Himanshu will confirm my booking or I shall call him personally to know if my booking is confirmed. On calling him and informing that I have made my full payment in advance for the booking, he confirmed my booking. He also informed me that we have to pay rs 1000 extra per person for a gala dinner on Christmas eve which I agreed to ( though the amount seemed a bit on the higher side). Till here everything was perfect.
We then reached Deer view, Ramnagar on 24th afternoon 1pm. And there were three standard rooms waiting for us. The cottage was given to someone else though we had paid almost 1000 extra for the cottage when we made our booking. And the room which was given to us instead of the cottage was in the basement, extremely damp and had absolutely zero ventilation (no windows). We called Mr Himanshu and asked for an explanation. He said he generally does not accept bookings from stayzilla.Just because I had paid the whole amount in advance ,he accepted my booking without being able to give me a proper explanation (at least I did not understand his baseless explanation). When I said I had paid extra for that cottage, he said he couldn't help and asked me to contact stayzilla for refund. ( I eventually discovered stayzilla customer care is just horrible). I asked him why did he accept my booking at the first place when I had called him almost 40 days back! But again there was no proper answer and he said we have to manage in whichever rooms we were allotted. I was livid and told him that I will narrate this whole experience in various travel forums online. He arrogantly said he doesn't care and I can do whatever I want. As it was Christmas time,we had to adjust in the rooms allotted.
On Christmas eve, we were asked to pay 6000 extra for 6 people. We said we had paid extra for the cottage when we were not allotted one. Hence they should adjust that amount with the Christmas eve charges. They then refused to serve us dinner as per order of Mr Himanshu. I must say 'Wonderful' exhibition of hospitality.
I must stay these kind of a people are a shame to the hospitality business and they should be taught a lesson. I hope this elaborate description of my harassment at Deer view resort forces some of you to think twice before booking a room here.
But otherwise , the food was awesome.The support staff understood our plight and helped us in every way possible. I on behalf of our whole group thank them from the bottom of our heart for their courteous behaviour.
