Just home from our second holiday at Yiorgos Studios. Like the first trip, we had a fantastic time. Our room was lovely - the huge balcony had an amazing sea view. It was so peaceful - we sat watched the stars feeling like we were the last people on the edge of the world. Well, the edge of Europe...
The room was kept clean and the small kitchen area was well stocked - although we ended up eating down at the Water’s Edge Cafe more often than not. It was great to have a fridge with an ice box in the room for the baby’s things. The travel cot was set up for our arrival and it looked brand new - absolutely immaculate.
On the top floor, we had access to a beautiful hidden sun trap - so I could still sunbathe when the baby was napping. Thank goodness for the lift - we didn’t have to lug the pram up two flights of stairs or carry the baby down/up. And the pool was great - lovely to have the option of swimming down there in hot/windy days when I couldn’t make it down to the small beach at Methexis.
We made good use of the laundry too - the machines were really easy to use and dealt with the 15 month old’s love of watermelon brilliantly.
Flora was amazing too - when we had to adjust our dates, she was able to accommodate us and she even dug out some toys for the baby!
Stayed 6 nights in September in Giorgos studios. This is in a quiet location on the east side of the peninsula which is the town. Not on the shore but sea is visible.
Booked through booking.com and could only get the family room for 2 of us. The building is new and the rooms are very spacious and well appointed. Very smart and comfortable in all respects. Kitchen very well equipped and good air con. The bathroom was a minus- leaky shower and very small considering the rest of the property. Not a problem for us but would have been a pain for a family of 5.
The problem with our flat, no.12, was that it was downstairs with no views at all. 2 outside spaces, one a decent balcony where you could sit and eat, overlooking a small garden, but not very private either.
The sea views from all the other rooms are the draw here but I imagine only the top floor are really good and there is a near derelict building in front, an unfinished one to the left and the usual building rubble, cars and roofs in between! The sea and rocky shore are yards away and the walking in Paleochora is beautiful so we didn't mind.
The pool is tiny. I used it in the mornings but saw anyone there the whole stay. Good for little kids.
The personnel kept a discreet distance which suited us but may be a negative for some.
Loved the resort. Still busy in September but easy to find quiet spots, beaches and restaurants.
Yiorgos Studios is the newer building behind the Haris Studios run by Haris and Flora. We stayed in the off season so had a pretty good rate, 30 Euros a night. Our studio apartment was on the top floor facing the sea and the view of the coastal mountains and sea below was pretty dramatic. There was a day long power outage when we were there and we were given complementary coffee at the Haris cafe below thanks to their propane cooker. Laundry room services are in the basement however wifi only worked in the main floor reception area. Flora said that they were planning to upgrade so wifi will be available in each of the rooms. Breakfasts, lunches, pastries and hot snacks are available in the cafe until 6 PM. Both Flora and Haris were friendly and accommodating.
