The location of this hotel is superb - it is a short walk into town but the shuttle is recommended as you are always dodging traffic. We ate there the first night after a day of travel - we were advised after we sat down that it was a set menu that night due to a large group dining there - a dozen people at the most. They tried to make our meal great and gave us a few extras but the main course of gnocchi was not that good and definitely not home made. A disappointing meal. The hotel did accommodate out last minute reservation (two weeks Prior) if we stayed one night in one of the more expensive junior suites - no problem for us but after leaving the suite the next day for 5 hours, they did not have our room ready for us and seemed to prefer the new guests over us. They’re were both nice rooms but as a previous traveller mentioned, there was a serious sewer smell in the junior suite the first morning - pretty gross.
It is a nice hotel but needs a little extra love for what they charge.
The location is great, and the staff are friendly and helpful, however, the constant smell of sewage in our room was awful. The facilities for guests are poor, no tea and coffee in the rooms, and the fake grass over the weeds in the common areas needs to be rethought. The pool area definitely needs an upgrade. Nevertheless we had a nice week.
So sad to have left this lovely hotel and this beautiful area. The staff here are amazing and will help you every way they can and will make every effort to meet your requests and answer your questions, at no point were they rude and unhelpful, seems baffling to read some of the reviews which say otherwise. The hotel is in a great spot to explore the amalfi coast and reception will give advice on buses or help arrange car hire or taxi if needed. Taxis are expensive so where possible the use of buses or the train from Vietri are a must. The hotel will beckon the mini bus to shuttle to and from Vietri or the Riato Hotel. Relais has a lovely little pool and sunbeds overlooking the coast. Food and drink can be brought to you and the rooms are cleaned daily. We caught the ferry from Salerno to various locations along the coastline and we used the train to get to Salerno. I can’t really fault this hotel, certain areas maybe need a refresh to get to standard and the synthetic grass plonked on top of the real grass is a seriously bad job which I hope they will rectify but in the main it is very pretty and clean. From a female perspective the lack of a mirror in the main bedroom was a nuisance when wanting to do your hair and makeup, nowhere in the hotel is a full length mirror. We had a lovely room opening out onto the pool terrace, no sea view but a lovely convenient room. It felt very safe and secure and we didn’t lock the patio door when we were at poolside. The most amazing holiday overall, great location, food, friendly staff and guests.
What bothered us the most was the lack of customer service and how unpleasant the staff was, as if the guests were an inconvenience. For the amount of stay we did here, it was disappointing.
And now to the horror of room 219!!!
Pros: best room view in the hotel in my opinion, right next to pool, awesome scenic view, big patio space.
Cons: A/C was not cooling the first night so we were relocated to a room with a wall view until maintenance replaced the motor the following day, long story short the room finally cooled down by day 3. The room smells like sewage, everyday and night it’s nauseating. The first night we slept in a different room (because of the broken AC) it did not smell like sewage and the room was freezing cold. So I do believe it is an isolated issue.
Additional FYI’s: coffee is served at room temp (must ask to have hot), towels are not replaced when the room is turned over, parking is awesome, just park upfront and they will take care of the rest, walking distance to beach (a million steps but worth it) and restaurants.
Upon arrival, we were welcomed with a refreshing glass of lemonade and some fresh fruit. We had a pleasant room overlooking the bay. Breakfast was very nicely presented and the coffee in particular was also very good. The hotel is situated at the end of the Amalfi Coast Road but luckily not directly on that road (which is very busy with a constant flow of traffic). It is not easy to get anywhere on foot from the hotel but there is a local bus service which stops directly outside the door. We found the staff very pleasant - especially the friendly and attentive waiter at dinner every evening.
