We were a group of 11 family members who stayed here for Christmas and to greet the new year. The owners are expats from the US who have been here for 1.5 years. I didn't have any interaction with Ryan, half of the couple, but had plenty with Jessica, the other half. She is very customer-oriented, so she made a point of mixing with the guests to answer questions, provide suggestions of where to go for shopping, ice cream (!), great tours for special interests, etc. The resort offers use of its bicycles, paddle boards and kayaks. Golf carts are available for rent, as is snorkeling equipment.
The restaurant is wonderful. It is an open-air structure with a roof. The views from the restaurant are of the gorgeous ocean, the dock and beach. Service is excellent, as is the food. Our regular waitstaff included Armando, Cesar, Miss P, and Birdman. Our favorite was Armando, with his quiet sense of humor and eagerness to ensure that we had what we needed. A breakfast buffet is available in addition to an a la carte menu. The buffet includes a main dish, breads, a variety of juices, coffee, tea and a magnificent assortment of ripe fresh fruits. Lunch options include sandwiches, salads and burgers. The restaurant has the best french fries I've had in a very long time. They are thin, crisp and salted perfectly. The dinner menu has something for just about everyone. Each evening offers a tropical drink of the day. There is a daily fish or seafood, a grilled meat and pasta special. Given sufficient notice, the kitchen is able to accommodate special diets such as gluten-free. This was particularly important for our group because one of our members requires gluten-free options. She often got the pasta special because the kitchen was able to offer rice pasta.
One of the tours which departed from the hotel was the half-day snorkeling adventure. The cost of the tour includes beach towels, snorkel equipment and some fresh fruit as snacks. The tour leader, Steve, was terrific because he was so friendly and knowledgeable. He led the group to various areas where we could see lots of fish, areas which were sandy vs. having lots of sea grass, and pointed out fish and other sea life.
Accommodations are varied. There are hotel-style rooms in the main building, cottages with 2 separate 1-bedroom units, and a treehouse. A small pool is available on the back patio, where you can also enjoy the view of the ocean. A volleyball net is set up at the back of the beach, only about 20 yards from the water, and ready for guests and locals to enjoy lively games.
Since our stay was 12 days long, we were able to get to know the staff and take advantage of the various services and equipment offered, including hammocks and beach chairs.
We got home 12 hours ago and I miss this place so much! It was the perfect getaway!
All of the the staff are so kind, welcoming, sweet, and accommodating. Ruger the dog too - such a sweet boy!
The rooms are great! Light, airy, beautiful with AC. I absolutely loved opening the slider and seeing the pool, beach, and ocean.
Excursions are fantastic! We did zip lining, ATM cave, and snorkeling. Zip lining with Roberto and (can’t remember his name). I’m very petite and they told me exactly what I needed to do to get across the zip line. Very knowledgeable and nice! ATM is a must do if you are into history, hiking, and swimming. Ended with great food and rum punch yes please! Snorkeling with Steven, Jeremy, and Alvin was great! Very good at boating and teaching you to snorkel. I have been in boats my entire life and they definitely know what they are doing. I have snorkeled before, but not with any instructions - just own my own growing up. They are so knowledgeable about it all. Extremely happy with all. They are so fun and again everyone was so kind and helpful.
The Barracuda has the best food! Can you deliver to the states please? Albert’s cooking is excellent and you can’t find a bartender like Birdman anywhere.
I can’t wait to go back! It truly felt like home. Waking up to the beautiful palm trees, ocean waves, and the squawky birds is a treat! Quiet, relaxing and still had great adventures! Love love love!
We chose Beaches and Dreams for my husband’s “big” birthday, and selected their “Best of Belize” package. Everything about this vacation was fabulous: the room was spacious and comfortable, the on-site restaurant was great, the service was excellent, the excursions were interesting and exciting, and the pool and beach provided a relaxing return from each excursion. It was quiet at night, so we also slept well every night. Couples and families seemed equally accommodated and happy, and the intimate setting allowed us to become friendly with other guests, and also enjoy our privacy. We will definitely go back!
My boyfriend and I booked threw beaches and dreams for a 7 night vacation. Which is where the first of several issues began. When we received our itinerary it was only for 6 night and 7 days, the 7th day in which we had to check out at 9:30 am. When we arrived we were supposed to be in a beachside cabana with a king size bed. Instead we ended up in the hotel with two full/queen sized beds and a shower that sounded as if the toilet were overflowing everytime the neighboring hotel room would shower. The Enmities included broken paddleboards, snapped paddles, moldy life jackets, kayaks with seaweed filled "dry storage" areas and a pool that was much smaller than it looked.. (that hot tub looking thing) not a hot tub at all just a small pool. The owners are non sympathizing and do very little to compensate you for thier incompetence. The food however was amazing and the staff was incredible. I highly suggest checking ur itinerary to make sure dates are correct and they did not short u, as they cut another couples vacation in half.
My husband, 11-year old son and I just returned from a great stay at Beaches & Dreams. This is not the fanciest resort, but is extremely well-kept and has everything that you could want/need in a beach vacation: a beautiful location, spacious rooms, a great restaurant, plenty of tropical drinks and, most importantly, a genuinely friendly and helpful staff (including the resort dog, Ruger). We loved taking the resort's tours, but also just enjoyed spending afternoons relaxing by the pool or fishing off the dock. Already planning a return visit!
