Right by the lifts or a short ski to all the rest in the resort.
Ski back to the door at the end of the day.
Easy walk to all the main eateries and shops - just perfect.
BUT - remember you must check the room and all items are undamaged and there at the start of the holiday (8 of everything if you have an apartment that sleeps 8) - the reception are happy that you pick up on everything (and it saves any hassles when you leave.
What they don’t tell you is that there is a 500 euro deposit on the apartment (which they do actually take ) and is refunded a couple of days after the holiday ends - this seemed a bit excessive.
Unlike a few reviews have stated, a kettle is provided but remember to pack a handful of dishwasher tablets and a tea towel- these are not provided.
The fridge is huge - plenty of space to store your goodies (note Sherpa has a far better range of food at better prices than the Spar - worth the extra walk and ride on the elevator)
The public areas are clean, the pool is not as small as reported, fairly warm and the spa can be used free of charge if you want to sneak in.
The ski lockers are fine for small groups but not big enough if there are more than 4 of you - just take your boots to your room - they’ll dry out better there, anyway.
Views from all rooms look onto the snow, some catch the morning sun, the rest catch the evening rays, and there are a couple of chairs and a table on the balconies if you’re hardy enough.
The 2 internal lifts more are more than adequate for the morning rush to the slopes.
The bus stop is right outside if you want to explore farther afield (and it’s free!)
Secure car parking is underneath if you want to drive yourself.
No real control of the heating but we were never cold - in fact we opened the outside door at times as it was so sunny!
We booked an apartment in Le Panoramic for a last minute holiday during the first week of January and although we are only two people we had no choice other than to book an apartment suitable for eight.
Criteria for us was ski in / ski out and indoor parking ...... and Le Panoramic was spot on for both.
We enjoyed our stay very much ...... access to the residence is straightforward, garage parking spaces are quite generous. The reception on arrival was very good, the apartment became ready before we thought it may have been ...... the first day hassle of getting luggage from the car to the second floor was no worse than anywhere else we have stayed. I can see how some reviewers complain of lack of storage space ...... so glad there weren't eight of us in our apartment. The apartment was warm and as comfortable as expected, reasonably well furnished and in reasonable condition. TV programmes were all French (no problem) and wi-fi was a bit unreliable (again no problem).
The ski locker room was not massive but offered ample locker space. No boot heaters but this isn't unusual for residence buildings unless they have a ski shop on site.
We paid less than £1k for the week and thought we had great value for money ...... we would definitely return to Le Panoramic for a ski holiday.
Heating was remotely turned off during the day and night until we complained so apartment was often cold for non skiiers
Heater right by top of bed meant heat in the face in one bedroom and blocked by furnishings in several rooms. Child bunk bed heater in corridor didn’t work at all so always cold there.
Very poor soft pillows
curtains don’t fit so let light in at sunrise And wake you up
Microwave is not a grill and doesn’t really work as such, no instructions for use so had to look up on internet as not obvious
View 30% not panoramic at all for corner flats!
Swimming pool cold
Charging extra for sauna very cheeky and unacceptable for an expensive apartment.
Check in out times ridiculous unnecessarily early and late.
Lights either very bright or so low you could hardly see with a mixture of bulbs replaced.
Cleaning packages doesn’t include most of the flat so pretty useless and very expensive for minimal cleaning.
Apartment was Dirty on arrival
Sofa unusable as cushions slip off if you sit on it
Ski locker missing boot shelf and too small for the amount of people
Ski locker room size too small for the number of apartments
Wifi doesn’t work
Bath unusable as plug doesn’t work, so can’t fill with water, clearly deliberately as reception knew about this and offered a different one. baby bath missing from child pack and still charged full price.
Expensive pricing for very budget experience, most other guests had similar issues and thoughts on the accommodation, only still in business because of the location which was great. Car park also good.
Basically minimum everything for maximum money they can get away with, do not stay here if you want any form of service and expect anything there to be at best average.
Would not go back even at half the money. Slopes also very busy now as lots of new apartment blocks and no new infrastructure but that’s not their problem.
Could not fault this place!
Light, airy spacious apartment (2 of us)
We were lucky to have the wonderful view of the slopes.
Staff were great and so friendly.
I'm a beginner and loved that I could just pop my skis on and head over to the magic carpet. My partner has skiied for years and loved the Grand Van lift literally outside the ski room.
Lovely atmosphere in Flaine, I found it to be generally a friendly, relaxed resort with a good mix of people young and older.
We cleaned the apartment ourselves which was no problem at all. They gave us the ok at the end (after booking an inspection) and we were on our way home.
Will definitely come back and highly recommend :)
Best to telephone hotel to obtain carparking code/access to building if arriving outside reception hours. On arrival we collected a ticket from the main carpark, went into the hotel underground carpark (charge applies) then up to reception, they provide you with a ticket to get in and out of the main carpark for free. We booked through SunWeb (very efficient) and stayed in a 3 bedroom apartment. All self catering utensils provided for, including hob, microwave/oven, dishwasher, kettle, coffee machine, toaster and hairdryer in bathroom. We were given an itinerary checklist on arrival and it lists everything. Do check the list and write down anything missing as soon as you arrive before unpacking, this is a little time consuming but essential as you may get charged for anything not noted on the list that's missing (hence 500 euro deposit taken at start of stay). Just a note, on the itinerary it mentions `stoves', we found out this is in fact `frying pans'. Take photos before unpacking and at point of leaving. The apartment (106) sleeps 6/8 and was lovely and clean. 8 may be cosy but easily sleeps 4 adults and 2 children (1 room bunkbed, 1 twin, 1 double ensuite (toilet and shower), sofa bed in lounge area. There was also a separate toilet and bathroom. The TV showed French channels but we did find that if there were English speaking programmes/films dubbed then often you could change the language to original on the control (top right button). There is a laundrette 5 euros for a wash and 3 euros for drying, a ski locker room and indoor swimming pool (free to use). Towels and bedding are supplied but there are no toiletries or kitchen cleaning, supplied (can be purchased at local spar few minutes walk or bring them with you), bring a cloth and tea towel. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful and spoke excellent English. Day before departure, you need advise reception so they can carry out an inspection. As we were leaving very early we decided to pay for them to clean it (85 euros) however, it is still your responsibility to clean the Kitchen, we hoped by doing this, it would prevent any of our deposit being deducted (which it did). The hotel and staff are lovely, right next to ski chairs and very central. Would definitely stay again.
