We we're lucky to spend 2 nights at Montebrisa. The location is amazing, just a few walkable blocks to the Cathedral and Town center, while near the foothills close to hiking. The gardens are gorgeous, the room lovely, the bed sumptuous, the food delicious. You feel as welcome guests in a sparkling historical home. Private and cosy. We leave reluctantly and will certainly return. Soon!

We arrived in the evening at Montebrisa with no reservations and lucked out with a beautiful, immaculate room with a small balcony. Rita brought us freshly squeezed juice, provided a great dinner suggestion just a short walk away and awesome tips for activities the next day. My boyfriend needed some laundry done and this was also taken care of quickly (although I’m not even sure that’s a service they offer). Breakfast (included) was one of the best we enjoyed in Nicaragua served on a serene patio at exactly the time we requested. The coffee (served 24 hrs a day) is made from beans grown in the beautiful gardens around the hotel. Be sure to ask for a tour of the garden! A gorgeous, secure and convenient location with deluxe rooms and excellent service. Highly recommend.

My wife and I visited Montebrisa in January of 2018. We were picked up at the Managua airport around 10:00pm for an hour and a half ride to Matagalpa. Our flight was delayed and yet the owner waited for us!

Our stay was amazing, fresh breakfast every morning, fresh juice from a grapefruit tree, "right over there", when I asked where they got their fruit. The coffee is grown processed and roasted on site. The gardens are amazing, every day we would walk around just looking at all of the flowers and different varieties of plants.

The architecture is perfect Art Deco with a touch of Mid-Century Modern. Apparently in Nicaragua most of the homes are very open air, with windows and doors left open most of the time. The common area for breakfast and lounging was very comfortable and felt like home. We spent time just rotating from one seating area to another to take in the different views.

Our room was nice, plenty of space with a quaint balcony that looked into a "jungle", even though it's in the middle of the city.

The staff didn't speak English (the owner speaks excellent English), but were very accommodating and with the use of a translator app would do anything for you, including bring in local specialty foods for you to try.

The B&B itself is very secure, is entirely fenced with 24 hour security.

We had a great time and definitely enjoyed our stay!

Comfortable bed, birds singing, delicious breakfast, great find. Tv in room, bottled water in bathroom, about 3 hour drive from Managua. When you arrive there is an internal visit of property. Lovely tropical plants.

We recently stayed at the Montebrisa and did not want to leave. If you need to stay in Matagalpa look no further. It is an oasis in the middle of the city, the gardens are amazing, the rooms all of the beautiful and have everything you might need while staying there. The staff were a delight and helped in any way they could regardless what time of day or night it was. We had an amazing breakfast which was included in the cost of the room, and no matter the time we could have tea or coffee made for us. The owner called to welcome us and when we left to say goodbye, a truly nice touch. When we return to Matagalpa we will certainly be booking into the Montebrisa.
