Loved our stay at LaCantara Resort for our recent 'minimoon'. The service was top notch, staff was friendly. Gym is well appointed and loved the breakfast tacos just outside after our workout was a nice touch. Grounds are beautiful and well kept. It felt secluded while being close to restaurants and shopping. Enjoyed the adults only pool, perfect place for a couples getaway.

I searched somewhere different in San Antonio to stay and decided to give the La Cantera Resort & Spa a try. Had trouble with the online reservation system where it did not get a few things right like adding early check-in and pool cabana rental. I called the hotel directly to correct everything. I had select the San Antonio Spurs Give Back room rate even though the season was suspended but did include a Spurs goodie bag full of fun items for kids to enjoy.

If you have COVID-19 paranoia then you need to know they are still providing parking valet, rooms not vacant for 48 hours before check-in, and pool cabanas double reserved for the day (11 AM - 4 PM, 4 PM - 10 PM). But they taking other precautions like mask wearing, extra cleaning, and online/disposable menus. We felt safe staying here and so far after a week doing fine. We also decided to reserve the pool cabana for the whole day and self parked our vehicle. This property is secured with a guard at the entrance off the main road.

This is a luxurious hotel and seemed to have a higher standard over Hyatt and JW Marriott resorts in San Antonio. Ask the concierge for a resort map where it list all the activities available for the guests. If you want to enjoy s’mores in the evening then you will need to make reservations.

The hotel can be a maze to explore but eventually will find several restaurants and bars, four pools, pool slide, arcade, green lawn, ice cream/coffee shop, gym, and boutique store. Signature Restaurant was closed due to COVID-19, but all other restaurants were open and Primero Cantina only allowed outdoor seating. The food here is remarkably good and if your preferred item not on menu then the chef will try to make it for you. We needed a special dietary order and one of the chefs made us something special. Very grateful.

Our room was as expected with a modern appearance like the bath, flat screen, comfortable king bed, mini fridge, and a small balcony facing a courtyard. A (low flow) rain shower head was present but did come with a handle held sprayer. The bath essentials are high end and towels huge and heavy. One issue we incurred was the hot water temperature coming out of the faucet was scolding hot, so be careful with your kids in the tub by slowly turning the valve from cold to hot.

The swimming pools are huge and felt like salt water versus chlorine which felt and smelled much better. The adult area is separated from the main pool, and was quite and relaxing. Our pool cabana was nicely setup with complementary champagne, various waters, and fruit tray. Definitely worth reserving to make sure you have a spot by the pool and shade. The staff were diligent and professional serving all of our needs. The view from the cabana and edge pool was amazing feeling your were not San Antonio but in the Texas Hill Country.

We did not get a chance to play golf but the course looked nice from the resort. Keep an eye out where you may see deer and stars at night. We enjoyed this resort very much.

Very nice resort that offers a lot of amenities for their guests. The team members were very nice. The rooms seemed to need some attention as they where a tad worn. Like having the gym available 24 hours so it was very convenient to utilize after the conference meetings.

The property is gorgeous and well maintained with lots of features. Spa, Golf, and lots of food outlets. You don't really need to leave the hotel.

I enjoyed the lobby bar atmosphere and found the charcuterie station to be a very cool and creative offering for friends to enjoy. The gym and the juice bar are also a big favorite of mine and I wish I'd had more time to enjoy the property amenities.

If traveling without kids, Level 7 is highly recommended! It's the adult only floor which gets you access to a private check-in/out (with a welcome glass of champagne), daily happy hour from 5-7pm, snacks and beverages in the lounge and it also gets you access to the spa amenities, including a separate work-out spot/gym and pool not shared with the rest of the hotel (unless someone booked a spa treatment). Also, if you need help with any arrangements, definitely ask for Joan at the concierge desk. She is fabulous--super friendly and very helpful!

Since they are, supposedly more upscale then the rooms in the hotel, I would think so. The nicest thing that I think going for the villas are the “home. Away from home”ambiance and privacy that they provide.
